NEMESIS: SUB-TERRA [Alton 2012]

Re: New Indoor Ride for Alton in 2012

Not really, Nemesis is just generally alien invasion themed, rather than actual intense war with aliens.

The army are clearly involved with Nemesis, due to the army/goverment camp site and vehicles.

Nemeis, Raptor Swarm and... this, for obvious reasons, are all very similar.

Sorry, I'm talking about Nemesis itself rather than What Lies Beneath. Nemesis itself isn't themed around war.

Thats exactly what its themed around.

Re: New Indoor Ride for Alton in 2012

Wait, they're building a dark ride based on a terrible Harrison Ford movie?

I was talking about Nemesis too. Have you never noticed the army related vehicles, campisite, etc, around Nemesis?

What about this that we've seen so far suggests war anyway? Certainly suggests goverment involvement, but war? Not... really.

Seems to be pretty similar to when they were building Nemesis - army vehicles, "keep out" stripes, flashing lights, and "Danger" signs all present and correct. Which is fair enough!

Re: New Indoor Ride for Alton in 2012

Serious? Army camp in Forbidden Valley? Well, Nemmie was built four years before I was born. Where exactly is this army camp? I've done some mean Street Viewing with no success. :(

I can't see what else an army tank would have to do with aliens apart from war, but I suppose we could be surprised. What I initially meant was that both THE SWARM and What Lies Beneath? both seemed very similar theme-wise and that they were both being constructed and promoted at the same time, which seemed a bit like Merlin weren't varying their themes as much as they could be.

Re: New Indoor Ride for Alton in 2012

^Well there is a lot of military style theming in the Forbidden Valley:

Military can be involved with situations that aren't war.

Here's some more Forbidden Valley military/goverment/army pre-existing theming...

Re: New Indoor Ride for Alton in 2012

Not forgetting the big gun pointing at the alien and now opposite what lies beneath:

Can't wait to see how what lies beneath is themed.

Re: New Indoor Ride for Alton in 2012

I see exactly what you mean now - though it's not really the same full-on war as THE SWARM, there does seem to be a bit of 'army presence'.

But yeah, Merlin do seem to be repeating ideas. The church station of Thirteen also seems very similar to THE SWARM's new station.

I've never understood that "I know something you don't" mentality of posting. The only thing it ever does is make the person doing it look like a massive douche.
Hmmmm, people that say they heard of something way before everyone else.....CF is being invaded by hipsters!

Re: New Indoor Ride for Alton in 2012

Please excuse my ignorance, but I cba to sift through 19 pages. Do we actually know what this will be yet? Reading between the lines, I've come to the conclusion that this will be like a really crap version of Mystery Castle? No? By the way, if it includes any kind of scare maze element, I'll be mighty pissed off.

Re: New Indoor Ride for Alton in 2012

In reality, we dont know, however there are a few "we know and you dont, haha" posts.

Re: New Indoor Ride for Alton in 2012

It's that four-armed rotating drop tower thing that was posted in this thread.

Basically a ghetto Pandora's Box.

Yeah, that's what I've been told too. It's a static Pandora's Box, in effect...

A 4 sided (may possibly be less), rotating on several axis', drop tower. It could be good..
