Submission and Enterprise to close?

I don't interpret this as them leaving, although, I have not heard the 'rumours'. Their removal from the Fastrack system is long overdue.

I'm pretty certain they won't have to remove them to build SW7, you can see on the aerial elevation plans that SW7 only goes up to the right side of Oblivions tunnel exit. Unless they need the floorspace to store the track near to construction (not sure how AT have gone about this in the past)

If they are going to be removed I hope they'll be replaced with something, even if it's not a ride I wanna go on it still serves to reduce queues on the main attractions. Maybe if they took both out they could actually fit a large Frisbee, that would be awesome.

I can't see them being replaced until at least 2014 if they just removed them this season since the plans for the next couple of years have been leaked/assumed.

Officially confirmed by Alton Towers on their Farcebook stream after being asked by TTF.

So two flats down for 2012, but two new attractions to put spin on to cover it up :)

"Whilst the footprint of the proposed new ride for 2013 does not incorporate the existing attractions – Enterprise and Submission – the building and development process will be substantially simplified by closing these two rides during the 2012 season to allow ground works to commence out of the public area. Oblivion and the rest of X Sector, including the brand new Fried Chicken Company restaurant, will remain open as usual. We apologise if this is dissapointing [sic] to you but we hope you understand and are looking forward to the new attractions!"

IT'S OK! WE HAVE CHICKEN!

Poorly done fried chicken won't mask 2 rides being shut, or maybe I'm giving too much credit to the northerners :p

Yep, continuous move to only in-house profits... I mean "high quality food outlets" ;)

^Lol, EVERY time somebody writes that it makes me think of gavin and how much he LOATHES the place, hehehe <3

If it is true...

I can understand about Submission as it's totally unreliable. It's a shame though as when it's working, I actually quite like it - but then I'm a girl!

They must have a good reason to get rid of Enterprise though, it's a crowd pleaser, especially when Oblivion goes down, so you can hoover in that area without walking miles to another part of the park.

To what Jordan said, I think people do still get excited about 'going on the upsidedowny rides', I know my friends do, they think it makes them look hard!

and...
As someone who doesn't eat Pizza or Pasta I hate that f***ing place too!

****!! KFC was my staple highlight of the towers :( Like, MAJOR highlight. Merlin food is **** and takes way too long. I don't want to sit down in a **** resturant in a theme park... I want, fast, quick eating food so I can quicky run along and get on the next ride. So I guess I'm going to go hungry :(

^^ Really, I think they have some good stuff compared to other parks. Pastys + Pies etc. But surely this is for another topic.

It's not. It'll be a knock-off KFC like the one between Tomb Blaster and Rameses.

Anyway, it makes perfect sense to have these SBNO while the new cred is built. It allows them to close off that whole end of X-Sector. That means they can drive works vehicles in/out from that end whilst the park is still open, and use the space between them to locate site offices etc. Means that guests are kept well away from all of the construction.

Apart from the much needed throughput (although, how long do the queues get for those anyway?) I really wouldn't care if these went permenantly. I think they'll be back in 2013 though

I do hope that when they reopen Submission which will also be when the new coaster opens so it will be busier in that area, they reopen it with both sides running together. Yeah it rides like sitting in a tumbledryer and rolling down a hill but when both sides run it looks brilliant.

I can't see the £20,000,000 for the coaster including new flats, but you need flats to help even out the crowds in an area.

So I think both will return and with a higher footfall in the area be more popular than ever before (i.e. they'll need to run both sides of Submission again).

I call **** on the "having to close it due to works" if they're not closing off Oblivion too. Any footfall in that area will still be there because Oblivion is open, and Oblivion extends further away from the site than either of those two rides. That's cost-cutting that they're trying to pass off on a weak excuse. Bet they don't come back next year either.

Also, no KFC can literally go die. If the Merlin options weren't so ****, it'd be fine, but, they're actually AWFUL. I can't think of any of them which don't just make me want to cough up my own intestinal tract instead.

Not northern enough to want pies <//3
