Heard Uprising from Muse, not bad, like it because it is about how <img> labour are and we should kick them out. Can't go wrong with that kind of story.

It's not about Labour at all.

Anyways, I've become obsessed with 'Ghosts N Stuff' by deadmau5 & Rob Swire, it's a good song, very catchy!

New Muse album is pretty epic imo. Some really different stuff in there than normal Muse, but that's not a bad thing.

The new Biffy Clyro cd is out 9th November, really looking forward to that, anyone not heard them before check them out (especially before Puzzle).

Also, Them Crooked Vultures. Supergroup with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) and even John Paul Jones (Led Zep). There's no full recordings out yet but there are previews on youtube and a fair few live recordings. Can not wait for their album, it's a shame I couldn't get tickets to a show :(

I'm struggling to like the new Muse album, which is a shock for me as I'm a complete fanboy - Resistance is the only song on there that I love :?.

Uprising (which isn't aimed specifically at NuLabour, try Take A Bow or Keane's Is It Any Wonder? for that) is alright but not "glam" enough, US of Eurasia's great apart from the turgid egyptianesque section, Guiding Light would be a great song except the in-your-face Vienna reference spoils it etc. The pattern for me is wrong production choices - the band did it all themselves this time and shot wide (bring back Rick Costley next time!).

I'm also a total Pearl Jam fanboy, so naturally I had to get their new one Backspacer yesterday! :)

The reviews have been glowing which made me nervous, but for once they're right - it's bloody excellent! Very relaxed for PJ but still with plenty of bounce, highly approachable, pure and strong songwriting delivered with aplomb - it's a bit early to reach a conclusion but it really could be one of their best. In particular Just Breathe is an awesome song. If Muse made me slightly sad, PJ have made me very happy :D.

At the moment listening to The Veronicas. Been a fan for ages, and so happy for them getting recognition in the UK. They are just chirpy and happy.

Muse's new album is good, but not quite matching their old stuff. I am a fan of before the sold out stadiums, so like their more subtle, less epic work.

Another band, is Glasgow punks, The Murderburgers. Very witty band, who put on a fantastic live show, see them at myspace.com/themurderburgers. They are planning a UK wide tour.

As, an old band, who I feel don't get the respect, I'm gonna say the UK Subs. Charlie Harper (frontman) is a great musician, and they are a must- see live band. A classic punk band, who are still kicking it after 30 years. They deserve more respect than just that from the punk scene.

That's Madame_Furie's birthday present sorted then :)

I always struggled to really like Pearly Jam, I don't know why. I just find that the songs are quite repetitive in themselves. So if you love the riffs, then you're fine (same could be said for a lot of bands I guess ).

I love Alive and on and off Even Flow and Jeremy. The rest is just a kind of mud in my ears

Madame_Furie loves them though :)

I'm in love with The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition, there's just something about it, and really symbolizes summer for me. Also Basement Jaxx - Feelings Gone (feat. Sam Sparro), such a good beat behind the song, and Sam Sparro does the song justice. I'll even go as far as saying Beverley Knight - Beautiful Night is one of my new fave songs, just really enjoy listening to it.

Onto some older songs I've got back into, 1 definitely being The Wonder Stuff - Size Of a Cow, love how bubbly it is. Also, be it ancient, Adam & The Ants - Dog Eat Dog, as used on the end credits of the Kevin Bishop Show, really funky song I actually sing along to!

Been listening to the Basement Jaxx album Scars. Not too sure when it came out but it must be pretty recent? Spotify tells me 2009.

Anyways it is ok, still prefer they're older stuff. The track with Yoko Ono is quite hilarious though, why did they work with her?

Unexpected..but.

Zero 7 - Yeah Ghost

AMAZING!!! It's so different from their previous work (which is cool because I got bored of their last album) It's just full of atmosphere and audio sexiness. Not been this impressed with an album in a while.

Unfortunately I hate Larry Gaga.

OK, I may or may not have mentioned them a couple of times already but these are probably my two favourite songs I have heard this year:

The Killers-A Dustland Fairytale-Great video, amazing song. Starts of slow and grows into a stuning finale that is just unbe-bloody-lievable. Fantastic vocal performance and fantastic music.

Just Jack-Embers-Video may not work-I can't watch it because I am British...even though the song is. Stupid copyright laws! But anyway... An amazing song. uses overlaping layers to create a rather fantastic soun. Powerful performance from Jack and great lyrics with a strong meaning.

PAWS. - Pull Tiger Tail

After a string of single releases throughout 2006 and 2007, Pull Tiger Tail were widely anticipated to emerge as one of the top acts of '07. They recorded an album, but due to complications with their label B-Unique, it failed to surface, and PTT fell back into obscurity. Two years later, the album has fallen back into their hands, and they have given it a long-awaited self-release.
Listening to the album, you get the feeling that it would have stood a fair chance if it was released when it was intended to, and it does indeed sound like it has aged. But, hell, on a personal level this is so nostalgic. I saw them in March 2007, headlining a tour with Ali Love and Hadouken! It saddened me to see that most of the kids (I use that term correctly) switched off after Hadouken! left the stage. This is really why I was so excited to listen to this album, finally.
It's not just the old singles (some re-recorded) that impress here, the quality of the album tracks is fairly high. It seems they did what most recent British guitar-based indie rock bands failed to do by keeping your attention throughout the whole record, each song bringing something new to the table. Most songs are catchy and infectious, but retain melodic and lyrical charm.
By the sounds of things, PTT will be calling an end to the band sometime soon, with Marcus apparently doing some work with Noah And The Whale (poor bastard), but this record is a decent legacy to remember the band by. They strived for it, and now they can leave on a bang.

In This Light And On This Evening – Editors

After previously releasing two favourable albums in The Back Room and An End Has A Start, Editors are trying to start a new chapter for themselves. In This Light And On This Evening is the major turning point in their career.
Like many bands trying to reinvent themselves, Editors have experimented with synthesizers and drum machines in this effort. However, every song present could be realistically imagined with their synth loops replaced with their previously ever-present reverb-sodden guitars.
The title track is a slow-burning opener, eventually exploding into a rapture of distorted bass and pulsating drums. This is followed by Bricks And Mortar, which ensures you are paying full attention to the record, built on Depeche Mode-style drum machine kicks. Lead single Papillon is the catchiest on the album, introducing the new Editors to the world with a swift hook of “It kicks like a sleep twitch” interspersed into the song. The rest of the album continues in a similar vein, with further exploration into this new style of music, a particular highlight being Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool, a dark, brooding pop song with a driving drum beat and bassline.
Mainly through lead singer Tom Smith's vocal resemblance to Ian Curtis, Editors have been often compared to Joy Division, something the band and many others have resented, and so this album may inevitably be classified as their “New Order record”, their first foray into the electronic genre. Despite this, one thing is for sure, they are still Editors, and changes in instruments will not halt their songwriting abilities.

I know this song is dating, but I ****ing love C&C! I'd recommend them to any rock/emo music fan if you already don't know who they are.

This is one of my favourites from C&C. I couldn't find a decent "sounding" music video, but this is good enough..

Fever Ray - If I Had A Heart

From possibly, my favourite album of the year, the self titled record from Fever Ray (Karin from The Knife's solo project). Full of feeling and atmosphere, you gotta let it grow on you but it's well worth it, definately watch the video of this song too, if you can find it. Turn up the bass and let it pulse through your room.
