Chicane - Poppiholla

It's basically a REMIX of a song. A really **** remix I might add. The Sigur Ros original beats the living **** out of the butchered crap that Chicane have put together.

Don't **** with a good song.

To be fair, I don't mind the Chicane track. Though obviously it's not quite on the scale of his older work! I rather like the Thrillseekers' remix of it too:

Poppiholla's one song I don't mind hearing over and over at the moment! Its still not as good as the Sigur Ros original, nor the We Are Scientists cover, which was quite impressive seeing as it was an American fella singing in Icelandic.

I kinda agree really, I think it's completely listenable (and is a great euphoric club tune) , but there's NO thought in it at all. It's just sigur ros with a beat, I hate remixes like that. They should a played around with it more! I like Chicanes other stuff, but this is a disappointing track.

New song of Muse playing on Radio 1 at the moment, and have to say im not particuarly liking it, they aren't being original, almost grabbing bits of different songs.

The XX are about the coolest new band about at the moment. I first heard of them about a year ago I reckon, but they're gaining a bit of momentum now, and there's more music of theirs out there.
Its all very lo-fi stuff, and they don't make a lot of noise considering there's 4 of them, but what noise they do make is infectious, captivating, and at times quite dark, but brilliant, and there's some lovely male/female vocal interplay.

Also, an awesome take on the classic Womack & Womack 80s tune.

God, just when I thought I'd escaped Surfin' Bird someone else brings it up again! Make it stooooopp!

I'm going to bracket that with another good track...

Biffy Clyro's new track. It should've been recommended by now, but seeing as it hasn't, here it is. Its very much like a backwards 'Living Is A Problem...', and its as awesome as ever.

I have no idea if these have been mentioned, but if they have, they deserve another mention, if not, then they deserve a mention :p:

Sub Focus - Rock It

Vagabond - Don't Wanna Run No More

Also, I mentioned on Facebook, but I think Pink's "Funhouse" is most defiantly on par with her other best album "Can't Take Me Home".

Imogen Heap is streaming her new album online for everyone to listen to. After that go and pre-order it. It comes out next week! :D

Ignore that whiteline. Silly Imogen splitting up the picture!

I've waited 5 years for Green Day: 21st Century Breakdown and I feel slightly out done by. I knew it wouldn't match up to American Idiot, arguably the best album of the 00s in my opinion, but I didn't expect it to be this poor.

I can say I only like around 4 songs on it, most notably 21 Guns, but I suspect some others will grow on me.

A disappointing 7/10

Ok, its been 3 months now, and my opinion has slightly changed.

When I posted this, I had listening to the whole album only twice. After that, I put it on the shelf and didn't listen to it again until about 2 weeks ago. Since I have, I've begun to like it even more.

I was right: It would grow on me.

I still believe that it isn't as good as American Idiot, but songs such as Restless Heart Syndrome, Last Night On Earth, East Jesus Nowhere and Peacemaker are rather good.

I'd now give it an 8/10.

Just goes to show, don't give up on an album if you don't initially like it.

Calvin Harris - Ready For The Weekend

I decided to get this album after actually getting quite hooked on his 2 singles released, I was a tiny bit sceptical because I had his previous album (I Created Disco) and wasn't particularly impressed by it. This album on the other hand was completely different! It's such a summery album (shame about the crap weather) and every song is rather catchy albeit a bit same-y.

8.5/10
