Now we've seen the whole element, I'm not interested anymore. Its pointless. Its not even a Stengel! It needed to have at least one side of it that followed the banking as an exit or entrance, ie a Stengel dive.

So? It still looks cool.

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

Don't know where the stengel talks are coming from, just call it an Anti-Bank and call it a day.

So this is a woodie.

I was waiting for someone to ask about the track, I didn't realize how many people just tossed it out as I-Box track when they didn't even get the track put in. Is it also worth mentioning that even if this isn't counted as an invert (even though it should be!) RMC and GG have both stated they're capable of making inverting wooden coasters.

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

The element goes

1. Climbing left turn
2. Rapid banking to the right into inverted position
3.Rapid unbanking to the left
4. Diving left turn.

That makes it more interesting to me, seeing as the over bank occurs in a straight line and not in a curve, which should produce interesting forces.

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

Double posting because editing doesn't bump.

RUMOR HAS IT THAT THERE IS A COMPLETE ROLL IN THE VALLEY, NO PICTURES, BUT A FEW PEOPLE ON SDCFANS.COM ARE CLAIMING THERE IS ONE....

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

If your feet are above your head then that counts as an inversion, good on SDC to build their new woodie out of the normal box & go unique.

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

So than are we agreeing this is a woody not a hybrid?

Also I think I may prefer it to not have a real inversion. That makes it more interesting to just have the extreme overbank.

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

^By my book this is a steel hybrid. It doesn't matter like... ever... but:

Steel rails, wooden supports - steel hybrid (NTG)
Wooden rails, steel supports - wooden hybrid (Voyage)

Like I said though, it doesn't really matter, this can be pretty much whatever you want it to be. :p

Well there's no doubt now. Saw the roll today and it is amazing! Down in the valley...
From SDCFans.com http://sdcfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=1853.1065

First woody since SoB to have an inversion finally has arrived according to him. He has a photo, but can't post it upon SDC's request.

Thoughts?

If there's anything I've learned on fan boards it's this.

"Pics or it didn't happen/doesn't Exist"

So yeah. Pics or it didn't happen

Also now there discussing OTSR.

Someone said they heard it would have OTSR. That would be a slight buzzkill IMO but now they're saying "overhead" which I take to be like What Skyrush has.

Hopefully it won't have OTSR. :?

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

Right, It needs to be said again, what is the point of all these elements? and why on a ride with wooden supports? it seems all too pointless, and just me, i'm not really impressed by it. Sure it's a first for woodies, but like the convertible SUVs they are trying to sell, it's a niche that never really existed and no one really asked for.

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

What's the point of elements? It's a roller coaster! That's all roller coasters are! A collection of elements! What on earth else do you want it do do? That's like going to a movie and being disappointed because it was just scenes.

... You completely missed the point he's trying to make!

Because it still sells. This will be a MASSIVE marketing tool that will draw people in from further away. Honestly, what other park can say they have a wooden coaster with the (still unknown) steepest drop, a high bank stengal (anti-bank?) and a possible zero g?

Nobody else can.

While you and a portion of those in the thread seem to question why anyone would do this (where a steel coaster would do it better), SDC will be making money off of this, people are still gonna ride it and we will see an evolution/restart in the wooden coaster realm that has been much needed.

Considering the fact that some of you (non-US) whine about not getting another (better?) wooden coaster, Im certain that this will show wooden coaster are still fun, exciting and can go toe-to-toe with steel coasters.

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

Call me a traditionalist, but I still don't understand the point of making it out of wood and steel instead of just steel. Sure, it adds some character, but...I dunno. RMC is the most niche company ever.

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

Im going with cost in the long run and durability. Steel takes longer to wear, and lets face it, the only wooden behemoth that pulls these (supposed) kinds of Gs is retracked at a near bi yearly rate.

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

WOAH, Silver Dollar City just messed up majorly and accidentally released the layout. Someone on TPR has a screen shot, but isn't sure if they can post it.

The name of the coaster is "Outlaw Run"

68mph top speed.

This is what I have gotten from Google's Cache

Apparently the finally is a double barrel roll according to people that have seen the full layout, which I'm sure will leak out as the full website was up for about 20 minutes

Re: Silver Dollar City |"Unknown"| Wooden Hybrid Coaster

^You and me both, I've been googling the cached site, SDCFans, TPR, and every other website about coasters to see if someone would post a leaked image that I can snag.
