I'm cautiously optimistic about this ride. It looks like it could be a fun little coaster.
As of right now, when is it expected to open? Memorial day? Hopefully I'll be able to ride it this summer.
It's supposed to open before the schools in New York let out. That's where Luna Park makes most of its money, families who don't have to worry about their kids being in school.
I kind of like the look of the orange track. This ride looks like it has some funky maneuvers. The stengel dive looks pretty interesting and the dive loop looks pretty weird but I like it!
For some reason I like the boxy look of the track in this picture. I feel like it'll be a beautiful coaster that rides horribly. Not been on a big Zamperla (yet) but I've heard the horror stories.
^ Zamperla had the restraint/seat combo on display at IAAPA and it looked very comfortable. Even if it is a bit on the rough side I still think it will be a great ride thanks to the lack of OTSR.
I also think it is great that Zamperla is moving more to bigger custom made coasters, hopefully the parks who are loyal to Zamperla will buy this type of coasters in the future, instead of Volare's.
I took a ride to Coney Island today to film some construction footage. I'll be editing the video tonight and post it tomorrow. In the meantime, here are some photos to hold you over.
One of the two new sections they added while I was there.
Lots of track and supports laying all over the place.
Don't have a clue what he was doing up there for about half an hour.
Waited quite a while to see what part of the station they were rigging to the crane, but had to leave before they did anything with it.
I'm sure there is a method to the madness here, but I'm imagining a scene where they got a new Lego set, got really excited, destroyed the package with pieces flying everywhere, and now they are jumping up and down while they figure out how it all goes together.
The park had a photographer on site last week when i was there and they posted a ton of photos on their Facebook page, but here are some updated ones that I took today.
Can you spot something that wasn't there last week?
The turn around footers are done. The supports were put into place toward the end of the day and should be erected tomorrow.
I also filmed another construction update video that I will be posting on our YouTube channel and here on Tuesday since it will take all day tomorrow to edit, render and upload it.
