Luna Park Coney Island | Thunderbolt | Zamperla

Re: Thunderbolt | Coney Island | Zamperla

The animation on that video was shocking!! However I like the look of this new model, especially the turnaround at the end, what even is that? Looks like three quarters of a corkscrew with half a helix on the end, looks nice though.

Re: Thunderbolt | Coney Island | Zamperla

I really like the look of this one. Can't wait to here a review.

Re: Thunderbolt | Coney Island | Zamperla

Does anybody know when this is meant to be open?

From numerous online sources, it doesn't see that a lot of construction has been happening on-site.

Re: Thunderbolt | Coney Island | Zamperla

The plot of land it will occupy is very thin and already flat, so ground preparation should go very quickly. Access is a city street, which can't hurt, either. I wouldn't be surprised if once construction starts it takes less than two months before the major work is finished. (Ground prep, footers, and track.)

It's funny that they show Bowery St going under the ride with cars... I don't think it exists on that block any more.

This is the final assembly of the lift tower. It's going to be a bitch moving that from the factory to Coney Island.

Once completed it will have a completely different look.

Didn't think about it tbh. Just assumed that since it's already assembled they would leave it that way.

Here are some photos of the event from the park's Facebook page:

Double Post:

It seems they've changed the coaster yet again...

They've got rid of the holding break and added a vertical drop instead.

The design change was announced at IAAPA but that video wasn't available at the time I posted this:

I also posted several photos from the park's Facebook page showing the new layout.

Construction has been picking up and it won't be long now before I head over to Coney Island to do an update.

When is this ride supposed to open again? I'm amazed that such little work has been done when full-time operations are only a month away.

Site preparation was virtually not required. It's a rectangular, flat piece of land accessible by city streets on what? 3 sides?

They're probably shooting for opening near NYC public schools start of Summer break which would be early June.

I've not bothered following this coaster but thought I'd give this topic a look because hopefully I'll be riding it in June.

Anyway, how fab does this look?

Short, snappy and to the point. I think it'll be good. I'm looking more forward to riding this over Boulder Dash! Although I'll be disappointed if the cars aren't parked beside it like the model suggests.
