Hersheypark |"Skyrush"| Intamin Mega

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

Yeah. I'm sure the flooding had a huge impact on the construction rate.

It looks like the top of the lift hill will curve right away judging by one of these pictures.
Photobucket isn't working so I can't show you. It is the 10th picture to the bottom.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

Photobucket is working again! Lookie here:

If keystonethrills is correct, and that is indeed the top of the lift hill, than the track will curve right away at the top.

Sorry for the double post.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

They are 3 weeks behind the schedule, but they are planning on bringing more people in to help speed up the work process.

The construction site is actually quite small when I saw it earlier today, but one thing is for certain, if you come in from the west, you WILL see this about 5-10 miles away due to how the park is situated (and if you know where to look).

I got some pics of the track (which is viewable from the ferris wheel and wildcat), and they have it organized (seemingly) by what part of the ride it belongs to.

Also, expect it to begin going up during the last weekend of this month as they have started on the second group of footers for the lift hill support :3

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

Thanks for the update thing, Intricks. Will you ever post the pictures?

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

Am I the only one that is surprised at the look of that lift hill track with it only being bi-rail? Was anyone else expecting something more I-305ish due to only having two lift supports like I-305?

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

We all were surprised about how the new lift is. Hershey has always gotten something new and unique from Intamin (Storm Runner and Fahrenheit). Skyrush is apparently no different as they are doing a new style lift system it seems.

Oh well, cant wait for media day now cause I have two ways in >:)

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

What are those two ways? How much track would you say was there? And how much left?

Being staff on another site, and the fact that I was almost a Jr. Researcher (which are the theorized first train or second train) and got invited in :D I would say about 7/8 of the track is there, and as I stated before, have it separated per where the track belongs layout wise. I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, cause it could be towards how much track is left or how much work is left before vertical construction happens. No clue on the track left to come in, but they had put in a few more footers since the Project 2012 group members were there on Friday. I saw the first clump of finished Lift Hill box support and saw where they are building the second clutter. Saw some new markings as well for possible supports.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

slowwwwww..........
I feel for them, because the flooding obviously screwed them over.
But still, no vertical construction. Just seems very slow. Hopefully it all opens on time.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

I know its only at the early stages but it's agonising knowing that not all the footers are in place, I keep hoping to see pics of vertical construction like everyone else, but it sounds like it might be another few weeks yet. Most of the other developments for next year are way ahead of this. Really hoping that they can make up some time. Any sign of the increased work crew?

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

To my knowledge....no. The place has had major flooding issues, but the other grouping for the tower supports is either started, or done, so that is VERY good news, as those may be the first pieces to go up.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

I feel it will be like SWARM. It will be sloooooow for ages, and then Bam! It's up!

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

I hope you guys are right, i've been following this pretty closely because i'm hoping to visit Hershey for the first time next June, i'm pretty confident construction should be finished way ahead of that though. Just got to hope they don't have any technical issues afterwards, you know what new Intamin's can be like with their teething troubles. They shouldn't have problems with greyouts at the bottom of the hill like with Intimidator 305, but they do seem to be trying out new train and lift hill designs.

Actually, I fear that the grey out will be an issue with this ride as well. Going near 80 into that shallow of a turn is going to be forceful, adding in the tight turns for the figure eight layout as well is going to cause some headaches and possible wheel-eating like I305. Im not sure how much KD spent on wheels before they trimmed and re-did the turn into the first hill, but even Hershey and their massive funds wont want to pay that bill for long.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

Well I think we're just going to have to wait until after the construction for the track is fully complete. Because realistically, no proper detailed plans of the layout have been released. That No Limits video they showed when announcing Skyrush was horrible, and not accurate. So, in terms of forces and issues with wheel churning, we'll have to see how it looks once track is complete, because then we will see the layout properly. I would have thought that from the simple name of the ride, it implies more of a free and relaxing experience. Skyrush vs. I305,
in the same way that Nitro compares to Bizarro and the like. I hope that made sense. haha.

Also, skyrush is 200 feet and 75mph, while I305 is 305 feet tall and reached over 90mph when it opened.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

I can't see the coaster going vertical this week or weekend as previously stated.
