What's new

Formula 1 2009

Common sense would have dictated that he just retrospectively gave the place back after the race.

However, he supposedly did break the rules at the time so they had to give him a virtual "drive-through penalty" which was made a bit harsher due to the fact that there was a safety car and they were all bunched up.

Its not that simple.

Lewis should have been 3rd as Trulli went off.

But Mclaren told Lewis to back off and let Trulli back through which they should not have done. Lewis slowed down and let him through as Trulli said.

After the race though Mclaren and Lewis said Trulli passed him, no one said they backed off to let him back pass.

Its a 50/50 thing tbh and can go either way, but it invloves Lewis and Mclaren so expect him to be at the back of the grid in Sepang. They still can change the results of Australia as well as they have not been confirmed due to the protests about the 3 cars, but I do not think they will do it that way but who knows.

All sounds like Spa again lol.

For heavens sake the FIA is off it's head!

We've only really just begun and all the teams are already ripping holes in each other...

I still can't let myself believe Button is going places with this.... i spent the whole of the last race thinking 'my god he's just going to crash or his car will stop working in the last few laps'

It still hasn't sunk in.... He hasn't exactly been blessed with good fortune over the last few years....

Hammy & McLaren disqualified for "deliberately misleading the stewards", Trulli re-instated to 3rd.

This really is a ****ed up sport!

What anoys me is the FIA can give wrong advice ie Spa last year and get away with it, Mclaren do it and get excluded.

The FIA does need to sort itself out desperately....

But i'm glad that Hamilton and McLaren haven't got away with letting someone get punished for something like that...

Hold up Marc.

The facts have been revealed. Hammy slowed down to 18 km/h to let Trulli pass back, and was told to do this by the team.

Neither of them revealed that to the stewards after the race, and so Trulli got punished.

Therefore Hammy and McLaren got exactly what they deserved - cheating idiots!

Slayed I agree they got what they deserve as they never gave the truth.

But what I was getting at is the FIA dont always give the truth either, remember at Spa they never admitted telling Mclaren that they were ok after letting Kimi buy.

I just dont get why they did this, they had 4th anyway very silly by them. This just makes Lewis look even worse in the public eye alot of people dont like him anyway.

Great start to the year 1 race in and already in trouble something he wanted to avoid lol.

Whats even funnier is Toyota could still lose the 3rd place in the diffuser row, Alonso could be declared the winner lol.

What a suprise the FIA **** Hamilton over again.

Its pathetic, if the stewards made the mistake in the first place surely they should have just reinstated Trulli 3rd and Hamilton 4th.

The FIA really don't like Hamilton, he is the most penalised driver in the sport.

No in this case the FIA are right, Lewis and Mclaren did not give all the facts. Trulli was inocent and Mclaren ****ed up.

Had they at the time Lewis probably would have got 3rd as they would have said they did not need to let him pass.

They bought this on themselves, its not good tbh and its not the 1st time they have not given all the facts.

Its bad for them as many comapies will not be happy, as they dont like working with liars.

F1 is literally the slowest racing sport in the world. It's taken five days for the race to actually finish, though it may STILL not be over. I could have walked the race faster :p

^^Totally Marc! The fools.

Hammy had better not start whinging, I want to see him knuckle down and get on with it.

, whats going to happen next, just wait until they start discussing the protests from the big teams regarding the diffusers.

I know its the start of the season but I think they should have a limit on how long after the race they have to make a decision. The drivers will probably be going into practice for this weeks GP and still not sure of the outcome of last week.

I do love this. I could have walked the race and STILL done better than Hamilton! Though I think I may have an illegal set of suspension :p
