What's new

The practices start at midnight (my time) with qualifying and the race starting at 2am. I'm up at those times anyway, so I don't mind it at all.

I miss the days when the Aussie GP used to be at 2am and it was fun to stay up for and watch; then you go to bed and wake up at lunchtime. Now it's just an early start. Eugh.

Shall do my fantasy team in a minute, I'm obviously going to choose the changeable option because it's ridiculous not to unless you're incapable of freeing up 2 minutes every 2 weeks lol!

Will be looking to defend my crown. Or at least finish respectively =P

The Lucky Duckies are in! Err...

I went for the changeable option, else you're just limiting yourself really. The extra £5m doesn't warrant any decent change other than a risky new possibility. Ultimately, it didn't make a difference to my choices, so...hope it gets off to a quacking start! *cough*

Having problems with the password =/ Typed it in correctly but it is coming up with password incorrect

I find that every year that passes I get more and more excited about the start of the next F1 season. I've spent a few days watching some testing at Circuit de Catalunya which was really good fun – in a way more interesting to watch than a race weekend! It was such an informal atmosphere, with cars out on track from 9am-5pm constantly and music blasting out of the grandstands.

Having been a McLaren fan since the days of Häkkinen and Coulthard, I find myself disagreeing with the changes they have been making this last year and have unintentionally found myself now supporting Lewis at Merc over McLaren. I feel a bit like a traitor to them, but they need to get Whitmarsh out! I’ll be over the moon if Lewis gets drivers and McLaren the constructors championship, but I’ll eat my hat if that actually happens! :p

There is something special about getting up early for the first race in Melbourne to kick in the new season. I love it and would rather be getting up earlier at 4am rather than the new later 7am starts. Big cup of tea, bacon and turn on the laptop to find the only people online are F1 fans for banter. Plus, it means it doesn't take any time out of the normal weekend plans!

I've got my tickets for the Spanish and British Grand Prix this year and looking to do another at the end of the year, possibly Monza, although I think that might be on the cards for 2014 too. I’m trying to get the most of the V8 sound before it dies, although we have been assured that the V6’s next year will sound just as good…

I've entered a team, but my drive choice is based on who I support rather than who I think will get the most points. Bring on Friday morning! :D

Peter it's even harder for me, I've been a mclaren fan since 1988. I found it hard in 1994 when senna left but there was Mika and Brundle so that was ok.

Like you I actually dislike the team due to the way they are going about things, this actually started 2 years ago for me. Lewis would win a race but martin would praise button who was 11th and I could not understand this. Last year was even worse so was not shocked lewis had enough.

To say Perez was not signed for money is stupid. Mclaren are in their final year of Vodafone and the bank. They needed Perez for his money end of.

Anyway lets see how they do this year without a driver who can just drive a car that's not perfect. People forget whilst lewis was winning in Canada where was button?

Button on his day is great but he's no alonso, ms or lewis. And yes I know a lot of people don't rate lewis.

I have a feeling this will be the 1st year in ages that mclaren do not win a race.

Mushroom no one else is having a problem :(

So stoked.
The last several seasons have just been great, and 2012 was no exception. Really was hoping Alonso could've pulled it out but Vettel is just damn clutch.

As usual rooting for Alonso and Kimi, just glad the season is here again : D

Just glad we still have the old commentators here, I liked em and more importantly...it's not on Fox!
Yeah good ol aussie weather strikes again. Maybe it'll rain spiders during the race

I enjoyed a full re run off the 1999 Australian Grand Prix on SSF1 before the rescheduled Q2 and Q3 sessions, really enjoyable trip back to what was personally my favorite era of F1, with the old Mika, Schumy battles, even the grid being more colourful, with the Jordan's, Benetton's and who could forget that crazy two sided BAR?

Great stuff, ready for the new season now.

What a shocker, RBR front row LOL
Give em credit, they have a helluva team and Vettel is clearly the driver of his time.

^Where's the 'Like' button?
Anybody else awake for this one?

I always catch em live.
Difficult with those Asian races but my being a night owl/insomniac helps.

I love Webber but dear god does he always drop like a stone...
I'm neutral on Vettel/respect him but my guys have always been Alonso and Kimi.
Lotus exceeded my expectations and Alonso just lost the title despite that s**t car he started with. I'm pretty excited.

Edit: KIMI! The Finn is back. :--D And awesome to see a strong start from Ferrari. :)

Was a good start to the season and a great drive by kimi.

Well done to sutil he drove a great race as well.

Massa was doing a good job until they pitted alonso before him as then pulled him in after a lap. That was his 2nd or 3rd over then and there.

Mclaren are in a right mess and Merc still need to do a lot of work or this will turn out to be a 3 team championship.

Looking forward to the next race.

Well I'm pleased to see Mercedes have remained consistent with one car breaking down and the other driver flattering the car with his final position.
