Drayton Manor - new coaster for 2014

Ok, just so I can get this strate.

The Launch Coaster will not happen, Its just concept. The water park isn't happening either. I definitely know about Excalibar, They will be getting rid of Pirate Adventure and The Buffalo. The new coaster is going to be a duel launch coaster around 2015. And nothing is happening about the ride near Black Revolver.

I swear if I fall for ANOTHER concept art, I am going to explode. Now If I got that list wrong in any way what so ever, tell me. Plus, why would they have that ride near the Black Revolver when they already have Pandemonium? I'm just saying they are quite similar.

Yeah, park management showed me the markers for the flat ride at the Black Revolver site when I visited in July 2012.

One of these were planned:

It was supposed to open in 2013 but obviously didn't. In a nutshell, they can't borrow any money for new attractions until the hotel is paid off, which should be this year. I predict a flurry of new rides once the hotel is no longer a financial burden.

Why did I think Drayton were getting an Air Race? :p

I don't believe we can deny any rumours just yet, including this one http://www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/downloads ... r_Park.pdf rather knowing that they may still happen yet at a later date. Perhaps they were all possible options which the park looked into at some point and subsequently decided on one, only to have to push it back to a later date.

As for Excalibur, it is currently being renovated into a ride named"Knight before Christmas" which opens in November of this year.

so, thats it. We can`t say it will not happen yet we can't say it can. All we can do now is wait until solid evidence is proven. So is anything going to happen at all? or 2014 is going to be another simple year.

This is just my opinion but I think the new ride where the Black Revolver was , is going to happen in late 2014. I have no idea what kind of ride it is, what the theme is and what makes it special. What do you guys think the theme is? I think its going to have a Redneck theme or a G-force theme.

^They're not going to build a ride to open in late 2014. Nothing will happen in 2014 (major at least).

As Ian has already said (and I take his word as gospel), they won't get anything substantial until the hotel is paid off, THEN a new coaster is a realistic probability, albeit one aimed at families with dire throughput.

Looking at the link though with the proposed area for major development, I can blatantly see a B&M Giga gracing the side of the lake. I'm calling it.

Ok first of all, I said it was just my opinion that it was going to happen, it was just a prediction. Second of all, a B&M Giga would be incredible but do you really think they could afford that? I mean a B&M Hyper might happen but I seriously doubt a Giga coaster.

^I do believe you're unfamiliar with the concept of sarcasm.

Again, I honestly can't see Drayton installing any new major thrill ride for some time. They've identified their market (families) and are catering for them. Face it!

Yeah I was making a tongue in cheek gesture when I was calling a B&M Giga.

The thing is they COULD build an airtime machine that would resemble a hyper coaster but they wouldn't. The park actually receives 1.5million visitors a year, and even taking into account that the average spend of a guest (tickets, food, souvenirs etc.) is probably a lot less than say AT or TP they are still bringing in a fair amount of revenue per year. But, and its a big but they would have to change their target audience to bring in such a large investment and make it pay.

They did so in 1994 and it worked, Shockwave and the Rapids cost £4,000,000 as a combined purchase which was a lot of money in 1994, but they did so off the back of a theme park boom, PBB built the big one that year and AT built Nemesis, DMP saw an opportunity and took it. But I would say as of 2013 DMP have gone much further down the family route now, They attract a different type of clientele to AT (younger families) and they would be silly to change that. They have enough for thrill seekers, I always have a good day there, and they will build to please us again in the future, and have stated as much. It's just going to be a little further away than perhaps we would wish.

Fine, I give up, I give up. Drayton manor aren't building a new thrill ride, safari park aren't getting a coasterball and Chessington aren't getting Allure. I'm not doing this topic possibly ever, I will just have to wait, I'll wait till some extremely solid proof is given in. No More

As has been said, Drayton is catering for it's current market extremely well. So much so, that a lot of families are more likely to head to Drayton than Alton. Of course, Drayton do have a handful of thrill rides to keep the older members of the family occupied.

I honestly don't see any major thrill ride coming to Drayton anytime soon. They have Shockwave, G-Force, Apocalypse and Maelstrom for that for now. Maybe closer to 2020 they will invest in something major, but for now, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

^If it's anything wooden I'll be content; the Uk badly needs a new woodie!

The site about a month ago and it certainly is a sufficiently large space. It's very little but it's just to show the current site. If they're going to build any new coaster, they will build it here!

I found this

^I took that picture last season, thinking they were preparing the area for a new coaster. As usual, nothing came of it. The park seem to use this patch as a temporary storage ground for parts and building materials.

Maybe a change of topic title to "Tedious Drayton Manor discussion" is needed? ;)

Maybe, just maybe you'll one day actually post something relevent to the topic.

Good one, but maybe try looking back a few pages to see that I actually have?
Besides, there's literally nothing to talk about in this thread anyway, it's literally just half a dozen people (myself included) putting the theories of one guy down.

How is this the only forum going?

I tried looking for other forums, the last posts were in 2012, they all talked about the Mack Launch Coaster like it's going to happen. I'm starting to think if the Mack launch could possibly happen. Drayton Manor said they were interested in Blue Fire, but That might not mean anything. There is nothing said about a new ride, Drayton Manor isn't saying anything.

There was talk about a Mack launch coaster last year but nothing has actually happened to suggest it will ever materialise, and once again, DMP won't be getting a new major attraction until AFTER the hotel has been paid off. There will definitely NOT be a 2014 DMP coaster. There has been no ground clearing, no footers laid, and no track spotted anywhere. Not going to happen.

Blue fire will not happen either, a family Mack launcher like Manta at SeaWorld San Diego is a possibility but I'm betting on a Vekoma family launch coaster for 2015/2016.
