What's wrong with Stealth?
It's a bit ****. Let's be honest here...
Or to use my usual fallback response 'It's a European intamin accelerator that's not iSpeed. Why does it exist?'

Would you express the same opinion about Xcelerator? I mean it's pretty similar to Stealth and I've seen it in top 10s quite often, including my own.

^
I've not been on it, but in all honesty... probably. I'm just not a fan of the intamin launches, they've never done anything positive for me. And there's a LOT better than Stealth in this country alone. Until Swarm opened, Dragon's Fury was my favourite Southern coaster :)

Err, but, Xcelerator is nothing like Stealth.
Hell, it even goes over the top hat a different way, let alone how it actually has elements after the top hat, and how it has lap bars instead of OTSRs!

Let's give this a go.

1. Boulder Dash
2. El Toro/Bizarro (SFNE)/Dragon Khan
5. Alpengeist/Nemesis
7. Lightning Racer/Megafobia/Lisebergbanan
10. Oblivion/Griffon

Sticking with my "you can't compare" theory, I tend to group coasters that it's difficult to separate or can't really compare. Both El Toro and Bizarro are fantastic coasters, but I couldn't say which was "the better", there's really little in it they're so mind blowing. Khan keeps in with them because it also completely blew me away, but offers an exceptionally different ride experience.

I find the Inverts exceptionally hard to separate, but I really enjoyed Alpengeist, I found it exciting, fun and thrilling - loved the ending. However, Nemesis still really packs a punch and Nemesis running well is mind-blowingly good. I'd love to have a chance riding Alpengeist in similar "best" conditions to Nemesis.

Then I hit coasters that I just adore because they make me laugh and smile. Coasters that are just exceptionally great fun. They don't do constantly massive airtime, they don't constantly do high-g (though they contain both), they're not what an expert could call "a great coaster", but damn it, I ride these thnigs for enjoyment and those three coasters are just massively enjoyable. It really is like comparing Bugs Bunny to Alien.

Filler ride there at the end then. I think that Griffon is the better coaster because it's bigger and everything, but I adore the short, sharp buzz of Oblivion. I just can't split the two really.

Ok, my Top 10 of 2012 looks like this:

10. Black Mamba, Phantasialand - My favourite European coaster, and the only invert I've done that has given me airtime.

9. Alpengeist, Busch Gardens Europe - Favourite B&M Invert. Excellently themed and landscaped, best first drop on any invert, great close-to-ground action.

8. Renegade, Valleyfair - A lot of fun to ride. Not the biggest of fastest woodie there is, but GCI's best in my opinion.

7. Apollo’s Chariot, Busch Gardens Europe - Again, not the biggest of fastest coaster of it's kind, but still a heck of a lot of fun to ride. The views from the top are awesome, and gives plenty of airtime to keep me satisfied.

6. SheiKra, Busch Gardens Africa - I wasn't expecting this to be any better than Griffon, but it just feels far more imposing, the drops feel a lot longer and there seems to be a lot more to it than Griffon.

5. Kumba, Busch Gardens Africa - This blew me away. I wasn't expecting a B&M to be this good, but the force this puts on you is just awesome. Great coaster.

4. Powder Keg, Silver Dollar City - My top steel coaster. Tons of airtime, plenty of speed, and I had a smile on all the way around this ride. Definitely underrated, and a great coaster.

3. Balder, Liseberg - Fantastic woodie that doesn't feel like it's trying as hard as El Toro, and gives a much sweeter, funner ride in the process. Possibly the smoothest coaster I've ever done.

2. Phoenix, Knoebels - A given for number 2, and I don't think anything's ever going to beat this into my number 2 spot (unless I re-ride it some day and have a naff ride on it).

1. Boulder Dash, Lake Compounce - No explanation needed.

So, 3 new coasters in my top 10 in my 2012 edition in Black Mamba, SkeiKra and Kumba. These knock out Kingda Ka, Goliath (which has fallen a long way after my shoddy ride on it last year) and Prowler.

I'm hoping I can get on the mountain GCI in China next month (if the park's open when I'm going...tc), so it should be interesting to see where that'll fit in, and I might even be looking at a new top 3!:)

Pre-Season Top 10:
1) Hulk - IOA
2) Maverick - Cedar Point
3) Kumba - BGT
4) Kraken - Sea World, Orlando
5) Top Thrill Dragster - Cedar Point
6) Nemesis Inferno - Thorpe Park
7) Raptor - Cedar Point
8) Saw: The Ride - Thorpe Park
9) Dragon Challenge - IOA
10) Skeikra - BGT

Honourable Mentions:
11) Manta - Sea World, Orlando
12) Rock'n'Roll Roller Coaster - Disney Hollywood Studios (MGM)
13) Behemoth - CW
14) Montu - BGT
15) Vampire - La Ronde

I'm hoping Leviathan will make it on here somewhere

Fair enough, each to their own I guess!

Well it's the closest thing in terms of height and layout (apart from Zaturn) and personally I rate them quite closely, but with Xcelerator coming out on top. I wouldn't say there's a massive amount in it. My point is that it seems like people aren't allowed to have things in their top 10 just because it's at Thorpe when it's similar to a ride that is at a larger American park which some often rate highly. Will has said he's not a fan of them which I accept, but that's where I was coming from.

1. Volcano
2. Bizarro (SFNE)
3. Nitro
4. El Toro
5. Fahrenhiet
6. Voodoo
7. Medusa/Bizarro (SFGA)
8.Talon
9. Mind Eraser (They're all the same)
10. Predator

This is subject to change, though. I have an impending Cedar Point trip.

Starting the year off like this, surely it will change, though I probably won't have a big year in terms of new credits.

1: El Toro
2: Maverick
3: Nemesis
4: Top Thrill Dragster
5: Kingda Ka
6: Griffon
7: SheiKra
8: Montu
9: Storm Runner
10: Fahrenheit

11: Talon
12: Apollo's Chariot
13: Goliath, SFOG
14: Patriot
15: Tatsu

I just realised that I'd not updated my top 10 since visting Italy last summer. After a bit of tweaking, it now looks something like this:

  1. Boulder Dash, Lake Compounce, USA
  2. El Toro, Six Flags Great Adventure, USA
  3. Colossos, Heide Park, Germany
  4. Katun, Mirabilandia, Italy
  5. Phoenix, Knobels, USA
  6. Nemesis, Alton Towers, UK
  7. Superman: Ride of Steel (now Bizarro), Six Flags New England, USA
  8. Rita, Alton Towers, UK / Desert Race, Heide Park, Germany
  9. Piraten, Djurs Sommerland, Denmark
  10. The Ultimate, Lightwater Valley, UK

This list is definitely subject to change over the remainder of this year, as I'll be going on the Germany CF Live and hope to make a few other trips to Europe this season. I reckon Dragon Khan, Balder, Expedition Geforce and Blue Fire all stand a chance of entering the top 10 somewhere if I get to ride them this year.

1. Maverick CP
2. Kraken SWO
3. Stormrunner HP
4. Millenium Force
5. Tennessee Tornado DW
6. Manta SWO
7. Blue Streak CP
8. Raptor CP
9. Top Thrill Dragster CP
10. Fahrenheit HP

I am going to Dorney, Six Flags Great Adventure, Silverwood, and Hershey (to ride Skyrush) this summer. So this list will definately be changing

I guess I'll do a pre-USA/Canada trip one now, and then an update when I get back.

1) Nemesis, Alton Towers
2) Oblivion, Alton Towers
3) The Ultimate, Lightwater Valley
4) Megafobia, Oakwood
5) Anubis, Plopsaland de Panne
6) Stealth, Thorpe Park
7) Nemesis Inferno, Thorpe Park
8) Grand National, PBB
9) Rage, Adventure Island
10) Speed: No Limits, Oakwood

What a turd list.

With Cedar Point, Canada's Wonderland, Martin's Fantasy Island and Darien Lake done, I'll reupdate:

1) Nemesis, Alton Towers
2) Leviathan, Canada's Wonderland
3) TTD, Cedar Point
4) Maverick, Cedar Point
5) Behemoth, Canada's Wonderland
6) Oblivion, Alton Towers
7) Millennium Force, Cedar Point
8) The Ultimate, Lightwater Valley
9) Megafobia, Oakwood
10) Anubis, Plopsaland de Panne

Still a turdish list in my opinion. Oh well. Got another 100 or so credz to get on this trip.

I'm quite surprised of some peoples lists I must admit. I'm pretty sure I saw someone list Rage above Dragon Khan! I haven't been on Rage, but really an off-the-shelf eurofighter better than the mighty Khan?!?!?!

Anyway... Here is my list.

1. Dragon Khan
2. Nemesis
3. Furius Baco (front outer seat only)
4. Thunder Dolphin - Tokyo (I know it's not the most intense but it's setting is incredible and drop is awesome!)
5. Oblivion
6. Wild Mouse (Blackpool)
7. Nemesis Inferno
8. Grand National (Blackpool)
9. Stampida (would be higher, maybe even 3rd if it still had it's old trains)
10. PMBO (I know this is probably one of the worst hypers out there, but the first drop alone makes it in my top ten...just)

I know everyone's entitled to their opinions and all that jazz, but seriously, an Arrow looper abover TTD? or for that matter any of the coasters listed below it.
