What's new

The Games we play...

Got to play FIFA15 at last night's release party. The game play is much improved over last year's from what I can tell from the half dozen games I played and the visual improvements make the game a must have even if you own FIFA14. I didn't get to check out the all the new team tactics or the Ultimate Team or Career modes, but I'll give them a try over the next few days.
I really like the subtleties like the player movements before/during throw-ins and corner kicks instead of the old cutaways. It really keeps you in the game. The other graphic upgrades are also fantastic, like the corner flags movement, pitch wear & tear and goalpost shaking when the ball strikes it as well as better player animations (especially the goalkeepers).
I was really blown away by the immersion and how real the game looks, yet it's still so much fun to play.
Check out this post for details on last night's event: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=13686&start=18943

Disney Infinity 2 is so much better than the first one. The Marvel stuff is good and has a good story. It's a lot more grown up than the first one.

Hyrule Warriors

Good mindless fun, never played a Dynasty Warriors game before, probably won't expand my interest into it further, certainly a theraputic game if anything...

Simple mechanics with some mastery for those who can be bothered... Story Mode is a very random story and seems to have some length to it (Team Ninja though :/)...

Excellent for working off the rage mind...

Is the battery life on Dualshock 4 really that poor?

It's not "Wii U Poor", you can actually have a decent gaming session on the thing without needing to plug it in (not that I've often managed more than an hour on the Wii U without getting bored ;) :p ).

What you'll find is that you'll have a lengthy session, forget to charge it and then come to play in a week and there's no charge. If you're used to the DS3 where you'll play for three days without charge and come back a month later and carry on - you're in for a shock.

Dimming and turnnig off automatically after an hour helps.

I don't get paid until 19th September though haha :(

It's okay, they'll all be gone by now anyway :p

Apparently launch DS4's came with an 800mAh battery while the newer ones come with 1000mAh...

I didn't know that... I can't see it making much difference to be honest. An extra 20% still isn't two solid gaming sessions. If it was Microsoft, they'd be offering a DS4 without lightbar to cover up their shortcomings - but Sony are too bullish ;)

Ignore this, I just bought one and it was an 800mah in pack.

Keep going to press 'start' on the controller

Watch Dogs is great, real slow start but loving it now I've got into it a little more. Destiny is really average for me. I'm not so keen on Sci-Fi/Futuristic games which is also why I'm not so hyped about the new COD (that and it's probably ran it's course!).

I wonder how many people don't subscribe to PS+? Percentage wise. Just thinking as I just saw they're offering free online play to everyone this weekend so there must be a fair few they're trying to tempt.

Fifa 15:

Much improved from previous versions. Career mode is what I normally play and it is so much better.
Now can assign scouts better and receive better scout reports. The whole menu has changed, for the better in my opinion.
The way the fans interact is amazing. I conceded a penalty at home and the fans were trying to put the penalty taker off, it worked!
The goal keepers look more realistic with their saves.
Most importantly of all, the best team in the world is back. Cambridge United! Champions league here they come!

I've ended up getting Fifa as well it better be better than 14 as I was not really impressed.

The last of us bored me to death in the end. Looks nice sounds great but it's just the same again and again :(

^ That's exactly how I felt about The Last of Us. I thought The Walking Dead was much better (the telltale game series).

Walking dead was stunning to play. I got the first episode for free and loved it. Not had the opportunity to buy and play the rest.

I did not even complete last of us, will go back to it when I can be bothered.

FIFA15 is so much better than 14. The visuals the sounds and the way players now move.

Has anyone got the new Alien game? Just want to know if it's worth getting?

Games are so expensive so really having to pick.

The reviews I've read are that it's incredibly brutal. It's like many hours of the most fraught parts of Alien, only you're the one going to die a thousand times. I'm not sure if it sounds good or not

What we need to do is organise a games exchange. There's a few of us with PS4's now, so we could swap games about.

I've got Watch Dogs on the go for a while until it frustrates me - I could swap that with you in a couple of weeks for Last of Us if you like Marc?

One of the advantages of coming in late to the next gen party though is cheap games. You should be able to pick up a second hand copy of Killzone or Knack for well under £20. Both are well worth the time you'll put in and the price you'll be able to then trade them in for.

I've decided that I'm getting a ps4 early 2015. There weren't enough games for me to buy it earlier, but Bloodborne will probably keep me busy for long enough until games like UC4 are released. Also excited for the Resident Evil HD remaster, because that is one of my all time favorite games.

Yeah problem is Furie they are games I did not want lol hence why I never bothered with the ps4 at first.

Knack's pretty good. It's like the Lego games in terms of gameplay.

Killzone was "okay for a shooter". I didn't massively enjoy it, but it kept me entertained just enough.

So they've got to be worth trying for a tenner?

I played the f12013 on a pc and **** me it's amazing so much better than on a console.

It feels real much better cornering braking everything is just better.

I'm hoping with the ps4 they can replicate what they do for the pc version.

I'm not going to bother with f12014 I'm going to wait now for the ps4 version.

I just found the car less pointy and more natural. It felt more like the old Grand Prix games which I used to enjoy.

Remember I thought the version on the PS3 rubbish, really jerky and full of bugs. I think I only ever done a few races online and never even completed one season.

I am looking forward to the ps4 version though as its going to be new and not just an update.

I've read reviews if drive club. I will get the ps+ version to see if the reviews at true. It's meant to be really poor which is a bit up setting. Was hoping we could get a cf team together.
