The Games we play...

^I have the mac version but all the games suck on it. The only good one is TF2. Plus they didn't do a good job of porting it over to a mac it crashes way too much.

Just bought Akai Katana today. It's fuggen hard... granted it's not the horror fest that is Dodonpachi DaiFukkatsu or Mushihimesama Futari, but it's still hard.

This game looks interesting. It’s like Amnesia, only you play as a 2-year-old. I definitely think the limitations and advantages of a young child, applied to a horror game… have the potential to make it terrifying.

Is it bad that I'm away camping for a week from Saturday but I am absolutely gutted to be missing all the E3 coverage?!

New Star Wars game has been "announced", set for a full reveal at E3.

Billed as a "mature" Star Wars 1313 takes you deep into the seedy underworld of a densely populated planet, giving you access to an array of "exotic weaponry" in your quest to take down targets and "uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy."

Gameplay apparently involves a lot of cover-based shooting, as well as platforming as you battle your way through the dangerous and titular Level 1313.

Was hoping for something more akin to Jedi Knight, but I guess this doesn't sound too bad (even if it does sound like a complete rip-off of Prey 2.

Promo image also seems to imply that it's set in a decent time period:

I'm very excited, but I'm not going to buy it unless they promise to allow me to do the YMCA as Darth Vader ;)

Or rather "I'll buy this load of **** and support the bollocks they keep churning out over my dead body".

Did you miss the word "mature" in the description that all the websites seem to be using as the main selling point of the game? It means they're learnt from the abortion that was Kinect Star Wars! ;)

First gameplay footage should appear on Thursday, FYI.

Well, E3 has been a crushing disappointment so far. Mass Effect on WiiU has been the only real revelation.

Good games:

Star Wars 1313 (but jesus christ that guy is annoying)
Halo 4
Rayman Legends

A few possibly good but there hasn't been enough shown yet games are Beyond (the new Quantic Dreams game starring Ellen Page! [seriously this time, not the bollocks everyone spouted when The Last of Us was shown]) and Watch_Dogs:

Oh, and a new Pikmin (and Sim City!).

New Lara Croft is possibly the most annoying female lead character since Lightning from FFXIII. Jesus Christ. Shut up. Sounds like she's having sex and playing tennis at the same time.

Microsofts were rubbish. Most their games were cross platform games but they just added at the end they'd be getting DLC first. Nintendo's didn't really have amazing either that interested me.

Beyond looks amazing. I loved Heavy Rain and this one has Ellen Page. <3

Other games that have impressed me so far...

Tomb Raider is looking amazing still. <3

Also loved the look of The Last of Us. Even though it's VERY Uncharted like I love the way the enemies and your partner react to what's going on.

As expected, The Last of Us stole the show for me. The demo looked incredible, but then I wouldn't expect anything less from Naughty Dog. My bet for game of the year.

Beyond was a nice surprise. Definitely one to watch!

Assassin's Creed III also pricked my attention thanks to some very impressive demos and trailers. I didn't really care much for the earlier sequels as they were more or less the same, but the American Revolution setting has certainly given the franchise some fresh legs.

Disappointed not to have seen anything on GTA V or BioShock Infinite though.

Reading an article about the game in Game Informer, they made THQ watch South Park religiously to get everything correct....even the instances in which Stan's house has the disappearing stairs behind the couch.

It sounds epic as all hell though.

Double post, but seriously go get Lollipop Chainsaw.

Highly addicting and generally amazing!

Loving it and all the random sayings the zombies utter at times.

I got nuclear testes in my pants :3

What actual good Star Wars games have there been though, seriously? The X-Wing games? Dark Forces games? Force Unleashed and Battlefront make it as far as "alright I guess if you include the fact the game is actually really dull and bland, but has a great source".

It's really two sets of superb games, a couple of series of "good if you like that kind of thing" and dross after dross after dross after dross after dross.

Lucasarts have done "mature" and "Bounty Hunter" before and it fell on its arse because it was all about using the franchise to sell a game, rather than using a game to integrate and expand on the franchise.

Just Star Wars games, eugh. All excitement followed rapidly by disappointment.

I hate myself for saying this, but LucasArts started producing rubbish Star Wars games after they began developing for consoles too.

Dark Forces 1 and 2 were great, and then Dark Forces 3 (Jedi Knight 2) was made for the Gamecube as well and it was, to put it politely, awful. I still haven't bothered finishing it.

The entire gaming public is still waiting for them to make another Star Wars space simulator, as the X-Wing/Tie Fighter franchises were consistently fantastic. Especially X-Wing Alliance. The Rogue Squadron games have never come close (due to their reliance on low altitude combat, and they ruined the franchise when they introduced on-foot combat). But instead of doing something the fans want they've been focusing on utterly terrible third person arcade-y Jedi rubbish (The Force Unleashed), MMOs (The Old Republic - Now free to play, its been that unsuccessful), and Kinect (it's best if we don't go there).

They've done a load of remarkably good games (hell, even Force Commander was pretty good at the time), but they're all so far back in their timeline it seems like they've forgotten about them.

I'm just glad they're sticking to the original trilogy this time around. You can't do anything good with the prequels.
