What's new

The Games we play...

Nah, New Vegas doesn't relate to 3 in terms of story or location. you just got to be a bit more careful cause of the damage threshold system which can kill you really quickly.

My PS3's got the yellow light. Turn it on and ater about 3 seconds the light turns yellow for a split second then just goes red and flashes.
It's annoying as it's been working fine. I come back from holiday and it won't turn on.

I don't know what to do now as obviously it's got all my game saves and stuff on it and I changed my 40GB hard drive for a much bigger one as well.

Ahh that sucks! I've had it numerous times on my old PS3. I ended up investing in a new slim in the end, after repairing it three times.

Are you going to have a go at repairing it yourself? Gilksy's guide is pretty good for showing you how to do it the first time (just Google for it). You just need a heat gun to be able to do it though, but it's reasonably straight forward. See, even if you transferred your HDD into a new PS3, it would format the drive. So you wouldn't be able to get your game saves across that way.

Also, I love New Vegas. I think it's a brilliant game. Thinking about it, I don't think I ever actually finished it to be honest... You've inspired me to go back to it now!

I really wasn't expecting the storyline of GTA4: TLAD to be as short as it is!!! I only started playing it Monday and I've Just finished it. :--D :--D :--D

^TLAD is the weakest of the three plots if you ask me. Obviously the original one was great, and had loads of stuff in it, and BOGT has a fairly good length too. TLAD was good, but too short.

I hated GTA IV. I found the story dreadful, full of extraneous crap and far too much back and forth trekking. It was a chore.

TLATD was much better, but again story was poor - still it was fun like GTA used to be despite being short. TBOGT was excellent and finally made GTA IV as much fun as Vice City.

Ollie, if you can get your PS3 working, you can transfer to another PS3 using an ethernet cable. It transfers all your accounts, saves, videos, download - the works. That's what I did. Got a new one (you could pick up a second hand slim if you're a bit skint - just make sure it has a decent size HDD), paid to get my PS3 fixed, transferred and then sold my fixed PS3 on eBay as working spares.

I had to buy a new PS3, but my old one was a release model and had done me proud, I wasn't too worried about it, just my saves and the hassle of setting up a new one. This way made it massively easier and I was only out of pocket the cost of a new PS3 (which got me the slimmer, quieter slim version, 320Gb HDD and the move setup).

Of course, I don't care at all now as my PS+ account saves everything to the "cloud", so I never have to worry about losing my saves or trophies ever again.

Resistance 3 Beta just doesn't work! Gah!

Bought Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock last week for £9 from Game, and got a wireless guitar controller from CEX...got home, loaded it up and apparently it needs a crappy special dongle to sync with the PS3? FML. For a start, CEX should've told me I'd need the dongle (although judging by the staff that's being extremely optimistic), and secondly why didn't Red Octane just put a Sixaxis controller inside the guitar? The PS3 doesn't NEED a dongle as a bridge for wireless, it has it built in! So, looks like I'll be eBaying this damn dongle then...

Also, I've been introduced to the Sega Megadrive gem, Ristar, thanks to the Megadrive Collection on PS3. I had no idea that Sonic Team made it, or that I'd even enjoy it, but it turns out it's a good solid game with some challenging levels and annoying bosses, and it's got awesome music to boot. I still can't beat the final boss though...

Sure as hell makes me miss the golden days of games, things really went downhill with the move to 3d in the late '90s :/ (just my opinion, of course!)

I'll give my thoughts on Guitar Hero once I actually get to play it properly. Perhaps I should have gone for Rock Band instead...

Guitar Hero is fine, but once you've played Rock Band, it's hard to go back the soul-less cheese fest that is Guitar Hero.

Best survival horror game ever!

Anyone been following the Gamescon stuff?

PS3 is down $50 (so £2.50 for us in the UK then  ) and there's a new PSP coming out without Wifi or shinyness. I've no idea why Sony keep flogging that dead horse?

However, Nintendo aren't to be outdone and have released a new version of the Wii due out at about Christmas. Same as before only you can only use it horizontally and ALL Gamecubeness has been removed.

Looks like I should have seriously considered getting that £25 Gamecube at the weekend...

Today was preorder day.

I preordered, The Elder Scroll: Skyrim, Dead Island, Saints Row the Third w/ prof genki, El Shaddai: TAOTM and DO **** DON **** PACHI **** RESSURECTION **** YEAH!

This week I pre-ordered Ico/SOTC and Child of Eden. Six weeks FML :(

Going to console myself (get it?) by buying that GameCube and a few games and setting up a gaming area for Maxi-Minor_Furie as a late birthday present :)

SOTC/ICO already pre ordered as of... A while ago. I think I posted it in here. Regardless. OMFG DODONPACHI!!!! ( I can't spazz out on Touhou 13 since it's already out :3)

Holy mother of god. That's me pre-ordering that next month.

I got bored this week and finally played the campaign in Black Ops. I got it so I could play Nazi Zombies and Online Multiplayer and hadn't touched the campaign for 10 months, and once I started playing, I remembered why. It sucks. They all do. But once I started I had to finish...

I played Heavy Rain earlier, It was awkward... Just everything about it was just awkward then I got to the first cutscene and it went silent and then it crashed. Awesome.

My 7 year old has become obsessed with the £10 Gamecube I gave him a few months back; Loz WW, Mario Kart and Paper Mario have all been played more than when I actually used my own Gamecube. The machine was such an underrated bit of kit, let down by a silly handle, underwhelming entries in the standard Ninty series, and the clicky triggers on the otherwise decent pad. When it shone though, on the likes of Eternal Darkness, the Resi Games, and lesser Nintendo franchises like F Zero, it housed some of the highlights of that generation of console. Frankly its a better machine too than the godawful wii.

I got 2 games to day. FFIV... again... on psp so it comes with the After Years and I got Xenoblade, waiting for it to update my wii to play it. It came with a gimpy crappy looking red classic controller pro...

Edit: numerals the wrong way round...
