I hated GTA IV. I found the story dreadful, full of extraneous crap and far too much back and forth trekking. It was a chore.
TLATD was much better, but again story was poor - still it was fun like GTA used to be despite being short. TBOGT was excellent and finally made GTA IV as much fun as Vice City.
Ollie, if you can get your PS3 working, you can transfer to another PS3 using an ethernet cable. It transfers all your accounts, saves, videos, download - the works. That's what I did. Got a new one (you could pick up a second hand slim if you're a bit skint - just make sure it has a decent size HDD), paid to get my PS3 fixed, transferred and then sold my fixed PS3 on eBay as working spares.
I had to buy a new PS3, but my old one was a release model and had done me proud, I wasn't too worried about it, just my saves and the hassle of setting up a new one. This way made it massively easier and I was only out of pocket the cost of a new PS3 (which got me the slimmer, quieter slim version, 320Gb HDD and the move setup).
Of course, I don't care at all now as my PS+ account saves everything to the "cloud", so I never have to worry about losing my saves or trophies ever again.
Resistance 3 Beta just doesn't work! Gah!
