I've had a weekend of trying to play games, and succeeded!!!
Lots of
Plants Vs Zombies for the family. I thought £12 was expensive for an old iPhone game, but it's really superb, so much to do, brilliant humour and the entire family plays it. Really excellent stuff, now MAKE IT CHEAPER!
Also spent some time with the free*
Acroboatic Rocket Cars, which has a near vertical learning curve. Imagine Mario Kart, crossed with Football and with a twist of Pool chucked in for good measure. It's tough, but once it clicks, it's almost fun... Not quite, but almost...
Also from the "Sony need cheap and popular iPhone games to make them popular too" stable comes
Jelly Car 2 which is a bit rubbish, but has amusing blobby/boinging noises and a car made of jelly, so it wins lots of points for being free* - hurrah.
I also grabbed Sega Rally Online which is Sega Rally... Erm, it's good for free* too
All are considerably better than the dull as dishwater, aggravating, dull, annoying, dull, frustrating and dull
F1 2010, which loses huge numbers of points for not being free (even at £15 it was a bad buy).
Okay, I'm not an F1 fan, but I've enjoyed the open wheel cars in both Grid and GT5 (including the Ferrari F1 car in GT5). I don't know what the issue is (especially as I'm a fan of the Code Masters Ego racing games) but it was such a chore. You're constantly trying to work out how it's going to shaft you next so you can't win rather than concentrating on enjoying the racing (which is hard, because it's F1 anyway
).
I could see how it's possibly an F1 fan's greatest dream come true. The game is solid and stuff, but it's just boring and irritating to play. I traded it in for £14... I lament the loss of that £1...
Finally, just saw this for Joey, who never reads this topic:

*Free for Playstation+ members anyway, which I think is most people for a little while longer yet.
