Tall person discrimination right there.

Is it just me or does construction on this seem to be moving really slowly?

It feels like it has taken forever for the drops to be done, and Wicked Cyclone seems to be coming along much quicker.

Is it just me? I know SFMM have never been in a rush to build things but come on I want to see it done!

Don't forget, California building codes. RMC has spent quite a bit of time reinforcing a very old structure, especially the lift hill. They've also removed quite a bit of the structure as well. Very deliberate, and awesome to watch if you've been to the park lately.

SFMM are not the ones constructing Colossus by the way. It's mostly RMC.

Photo update fresh from RMC's Facebook page. Emphasis on large first drop into very small bunny hops. Possibly the best ejector airtime hill of all time?

Reminds me of Thunderhawk at Dorneys "airtime" bunny hop after its first drop...

TBH I'm a bit skeptical of them. They remind of that low airtime hill Colossus has at Thorpe, just after it's loop. Now I know Colossus @ Thorpe isn't meant for airtime, but that hill should have given some great airtime, when in reality there was nothing at all.

I hope I'm wrong though. RMC do know what they're doing (and I probably shouldn't compare an Intamin looper to an RMC ). It's just those little hills don't look sharp or abrupt enough to give anything amazing.

Doesn't look like it'll do anything? Also, it's hideous. Colossus was an amazing coaster, hope it lives up to the original.

I am judging that first airtime hill off of the first airtime hills we find on Iron Rattler and NTG; both of which are great pops of airtime.

Also considering that an RMC has yet to hit outside of the Mitch Hawker Top 10 (and do we really think Goliath and Medusa Steel won't rank highly either?) - it's reasonable to be optimistic that Twisted Colossus will be a caliber ride.

Colossus was certainly a good wooden coaster - I have it in my own wooden top 10. As a historic roller coaster, it carries even greater weight as a west coast classic (for which, I am sorry to see it go). It is no secret however that ridership was lagging, and the writing has seemed to be on the wall for an RMC conversion for years.

I always hate seeing a classic go, yet love everything RMC has done to date. Definitely mixed emotions, but in a happy phoenix-rising-from-the-embers kind of way.

Also from Our Mountain, Ninja had all of its trees removed.

Re: Six Flags Magic Mountain | Twisted Colossus | RMC Iron H

^ Sorry to hear that; swooping through the landscape was what made an otherwise ok suspended coaster ride pretty fun. Understandable however given the accident.

Mostly all, yes. Sadly.

Would be nice if they worked in a different direction instead of just leaving the coaster completely bare.

-----------

I've been following Colossus construction pretty closely and have to say that I'm excited. I rarely get excited about new rides, but this one is special. Might be because it's an RMC that we just don't have this far west. The High 5 is filled with much sexiness.

Re: Six Flags Magic Mountain | Twisted Colossus | RMC Iron H

Is that skycoaster blue? Why is that skycoaster blue?

Re: Six Flags Magic Mountain | Twisted Colossus | RMC Iron H

^Yes, it has been as long as I can remember.

New trees are being planted on that hill. They must have found an issue with multiple trees in that area.
