No.. NO NO NO!

Thorpe.. can we PLEASE learn to name a coaster? Jesus <img> Christ.

Yer, because Batman - The ride, is any better?

Batman is a well known legendary figure. Saw is what.. a 5 year old fad?

Thorpe had a chance to create something special. Something eerie and different.

With one fell swoop, they just royally ****ed this up. Maybe I'm just seething irrationally at the moment, and maybe my opinion will change given time, but right now any desire I had to travel the length of the country to ride this thing has gone.

I guess this is what happens when you mix scallies with a place apparently run by ****ing marketeers.

OK, rant over.

2009 Rollercoaster Quick Facts:

• 100ft, 100º ‘beyond vertical’ drop
• 3 inversions
• Each individual car holds 8 passengers
• Up to 8 cars on the track
• Ride duration: 1min 40 seconds
• 30 seconds (30%) inside the station building
• Track length: 2362ft

3 Inversions??

Either they are keeping the indoor inversion quiet...

Or this isn't an inversion..?

Fail.

That isn't an inversion.

It's called a "corner".

Fail.

Put it this way Thorpe need to theme this ride well to make it appealing, I have yet to go on one Euro Fighter I liked and that does not give me a head ache. I really dont like them. I know people do like them but when you are my height all you tend to do is bang your head on the seat.

The best part of the ride probably wont even be the coaster, it will be the station.

Mystery Mine is themed all the way through this ride is not, I do wish people would stop saying the ride will be well themed when its clear its just the station.

Rant over.

I think it's great Thorpe have got a new coaster dont get me wrong but I just do not get the hype over this, its just a Euro Fighter and I can go on one 5 minutes down the road which will do the same thing :)

Of course Ollie's going to love it, he's a haunted-thingy fanboy after all. They could have put a turd in a shoe box and called it "Nightmare on Turd Street" and he'd love it.

What I'm waiting for is for new peopel to sign up on CF with the word "Saw" in thier username. "Saw2009", "ThorpeSaw" and so forth.

That's my worry. Will Saw stand the test of time? I'd have thought it was far too contemporary... Which is why I thought it was going to be a marketing tool, not a heavily prominent feature of the ride. I'm still not sure it will be. This ride desperately needs to be good without Saw.

I'm not actually too fussed, just went to the website, and it's epic.

Lol! Love it Ian!

In 5 years time people will not remember Saw apart from die hard fans so the theme will be lost on them, but it might make them buy the films so that will keep the film going longer.

Oh, it also means the saw mill is still totally out of place.
I've not seen any of the Saw films... But I was under the impression that the villain sets up his traps in different lairs he takes his fancy too? Maybe I'm really wrong there. And, was under the impression from screens from the films, that those places are often industrial.

So why is a saw mill totally out of place?

I still think Saw has been childishly super glued to the original concept of a log mill in Canada gone wrong, but this one part of it actually happens to fit.

As I said a few pages back: Even the kiosk staff could make a better and more original story than this. It's a £50 investment (most of it in crisps and pizza), a weekend or so, and from there on it's making a new video (competition?), you don't need a lot of special effects, and remake some signs.

Thorpe can retheme this in five years, and they can easily do it for less than £10k.

Until then, I'll keep on groaning.

^I agree, it could be re-themed. I can't imagine that there will be loads of stuff in the theming that is solely Saw related.

If they could take that out then they'd still just have a horror themed ride. I think in the long run this could be converted.

Then again, that doesn't stop the original idea being poo.

For those of you who overhyped the ride, look at it this way.

SAW will be the longest, tallest, and fastest Eurofighter yet, not to mention the steepest drop in the world.

Speaking strictly layout, SAW will arguably be the best Eurofighter.

What's more, Mystery Mine is famous for its creepy abandoned mine overtone.

Though it's no haunted mineshaft, SAW does have a creepy overtone.

There's no reason to complain.

If you don't like the theme, enjoy the fact that the instant you leave the station, you will be riding the biggest Eurofighter around.

Seeing as the film makers are involved I am sure the station will be well themed, but if you have to queue for 2 hours you are going to get sick of seeing the same thing over and over again, and hearing the same thing again and again.

Give it 6 months half the TV screens wont work and affects wont work, they can not even keep mist effects working.

This ride will end up the same as X/No Way Out.

Yes its the biggest Euro Fighter but it does not do anything the others dont do, in fact it does less. Look at the size of Rage, that has 3 inversions on its tiny layout.

As I said I hope I am wrong.

I was laughing at this till I saw this

I really don't think it's that bad.
I am dissapointed by the movie tie in, but I believe that the pre show and theme could be pulled off well.
The fact that it's got a "dark" section with sudden drops and inversions means that it will have to be well themed, otherwise it will make no sense.
Also I don't see thorpe adding particuarly OTT gore on this (probably just a bit more than on Baco)
TBH, I think it will rely more hevily on headchoppers, and the suddeness of the near vertical drop (which in the dark will probably feel huge, and give epic amounts of airtime), so it could be a good family ride yet.
Hopefully, as long as thorpe don't **** up the theming, they could be on to a real winner.
I also think that as the ride track is complete with a month to go before the end of the season the theming will be pretty impresive.
I'm looking forward to this.

Nope, depending on how you look at it.
I count at least 400 degrees.

But I see what you mean. We are overlooking the sheer stats of the ride, which we were hyping to the skies before the utter crappy name was announced.

As UC once said, Six Flags New England could be bought by Mattel, and renamed Barbie Land. S:ROS (Or Barbie: Journey to Fairytopia) would still have been an awesome ride, regardless of the pink paint and themeing.
We are now facing the same thing here. But I much prefer this to a carpark coaster themed to nothing.

Hopefully they'll put effort into the theming so you won't see the same thing over again; like different rooms etc.

I never got bored of listening to Queen whilst queueing for Rita; so I doubt this will affect me or the GP :p

And its not the fastest Euro-Fighter, Speed is. :)

(probably just a bit more than on Baco)

Baco had gore? Wine maybe
