I intend to use Adobe After Effects for Virtu. Do you want me to send you the program or ?...

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Alright...final teaser before I submit my official entry

Here's a shot of a restaurant in my park

Btw, has anyone here actually played Uncharted?

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

I use Sony Vegas Pro for my videos. If your used to Movie Maker then it's very easy but more advanced.

Coasters are looking good by the way...

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Good thing it doesn't cost like $600 or anything...but thanks for the suggestion...might use the trial for the time being

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

At long last I have finished. I present to you Uncharted - Drake's Fortune (the ride, not the game :p). For those of you who have played the game, the ride essentially follows the main storyline of the game but for those of you who haven't, I will give you some brief background info. Nathan "Nate" Drake, a descendant of the great explorer Sir Francis Drake, is out to discover the treasure of El Dorado (the city of gold) just as his ancestor did years ago. Traveling with him are his friend and fellow treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan and a reporter Elena Fisher. Through the experience of the coaster, you will join them on their quest for glory...but beware, you are not the only one on the hunt...

Uncharted- Drake's Fortune is a multi-sensory, multi-launch LSM coaster designed by Intamin complete with built-in audio and special effects to bring the rider directly into the heart of the story. With two breath-taking launches and an extensive indoor experience, Uncharted is sure to leave you speechless. Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

Here's a pic of some of the surrounding area. You can see the balcony of the restaurant in the bottom left and two other attractions, Boa Twister (slide) and Jungle Adventure (raft ride) at the top. The building in the top right is a full-service restroom fully furnished and functional.

Here is the entrance/exit to the ride with the tunnels leading to and from the main station.

Track length: 4320ft (1317m)

Great coaster Derek! Where did you get the boat and the helicopter, they're awesome!

Preview for mine:

Jester.jpg

Made this awhile ago, so does not have the updated colour scheme. My entry should be up tomorrow.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

The boat and helicopter were really hard to find and I had to go to a German page for both.

The boat was here: http://www.rct-3.org/files/index.php?page=Entry&entryID=1375

And the helicopter was here: http://www.rct-3.org/files/index.php?page=Entry&entryID=1497

I got a little help from the people over at Shy Guy's World for the helicopter though.

Oh, and before I get any comments about running into trees during my POV, I can promise you that the reason it may seem like you barely skim one once or twice is the camera angle on the car. I had to use an alternative angle in order to avoid having the bar get in the way. So no, you don't run into tree branches.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

My computer is making some weird noises, so a POV is unlikley. That okay CP10?

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Great entry reddude333.

Josh, it would benefit you to to submit a point of view, to view track layout and realism. But you can enter it without if you wish.

I love how only Derek has submitted his entry this late on, this is just what I wanted to see, people taking their time, and unveiling all at roughly the same time.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

@ reddude333

I liked the bit at 2:40 the most. The train slows down for a scene and you creep slowly along the track. The unexpectedly at the end you rocket off with a sense of urgency. I just like 'different'ness. Trying to not get too critical before judging :<

I envy that your coaster choice has corners and that you're able to use CS without being terrified that your entry would be corrupted.

I'll start preparations for presentation of my entry today then :)
Get ready for a lot of screenshots as my Computer's FPS when recording would make panning shots impossible.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Winter's Palace

In the middle of a lake beyond civilisation is an island. On that island, it is home to a spirit of cold. The Great Winter Dragon lives here. His mere presence curses the land so that it always winter. Strangely, it rarely snows here. The snows that litter the island have been laid over many centuries and millennia. Within them are the memories of the past.

People eventually discovered this wondrous jewel of creation. In awe they build a Palace to worship the great Dragon. Sadly, ironically in building these structures to satisfy their own wonderment they disturbed the balance that had existed here since the creation of the planet. The snows began to melt as warmth was introduce by the pilgrims. Soon humanity's darkest trait emerged. Awe turned to greed. They believed they could harness the power of this great dragon. Sadly the Dragon had other ideas.

In a constant battle against restraint, the Dragon flies for his very life. His strength wanes. Soon he cannot resist no more. The age of dragons is at an end.

Real stuff and not fancy poeticness

It's an Impulse Coaster. It was the only inverted Intamin Coaster that I was able to use for RCT3. I also wanted to see if I could do something more interesting with the coaster type than just an elaborate half-pipe, hoop and a strange cube thing. From an engineering point of view, the flexibility of the track was very limited. As a result, scenery and terrain had to make up for lack of track complexity.
The theme was of winter and Arab buildings was the only building that matched the whiteness of the snow the most. I wanted to go for an 'natural environment' so no log cabins or concrete/glass.But you can see, humanity is beginning to leave its stain on the land.

The design of the park started with the Coaster's Station and then branched out. Regrettably the FPS of the in game recorder would have made creep view video be frustrating to film. Therefore you cannot see much of what I did on the inside.

Now for media:

Description Of The Layout With Some Story Explanation
Starts with the Dragon frantically escaping his prison. He is weakened so he is unable to gather height. He smashes into a tower just as he gains velocity allowing him to rise. Sadly the resistance of destroying the building slows him down, so he plummets to the earth again. Narrowly escapes crashing by rising again. Unfortunately due to his drained energy he cannot sustain rising so he falls straight down into another tower. Thankfully he is able to recover before hitting the floor and flies out at the bottom. Unfortunately he is unable to gather sufficient height and hugs the surface closely. He stumbles down into a crevice and tries again. As much as he tries to fly up and escape he is never able to. He re-captured and taken back to his cell where he bides his time. One day he might just make it...

Disclaimers At no point do the rider's limbs would be amputated. It's just the camera's POV.
The only CS are the track supports as my previous entry for this contest's saved file got corrupted and I blamed using CS. So this time when I started again, I didn't want to risk it. The lack of variety of natural trees being planted was because sugar pine was the only default tree that fitted in the environment. Also it was the pilgrims' faults.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Toatall forgot about this:

Your entries must be set in a Theme Park, you don`t have to create a whole park just a small area around the ride, a few flat rides and trees, maybe the odd building.

So I'll have to withdraw. :|

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

^I'm pretty sure yours is in a theme park Josh...you even have themed areas (i.e.: medieval, industrial)

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

I thought the area had to be themed to your ride theme. Well that makes everything easier!

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Isn't the area medieval-themed? Sounds like The Jester would fit in well there...

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

VIRTÙ postponed

I'm dropping out (once again) of this competition. I noticed a major flaw in my creation's design and I want to take my time to finish the project anyway. I think it will take months to complete it and I had neither time nor inspiration to do something else (anthough I've actually tried).
Sorry.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Important Announcement

So the closing date is tomorrow. And although we have had an extension, I`m willing to wait until the following competitors have submitted their entries providing their not going to take ages with it.

reddude - Uncharted - Drake`s Fortune (Already Submitted)
scw55 - Winter`s Palace (Already submitted)
portemine - Virtu (Project Postponed)
Josh - The Jester (Your theme is fine)
Addy - ???
Jammyband - ???

So if you four could all get you`re entries in asap that would be real great.
Fl0 did not reply to either the message on here or my PM I sent him, so unless he enters before the final of the four we`re waiting for, I`ll assume he is not taking part and will close the competition and take it to the voting period.
