Playland's Castaway Cove | GaleForce | S&S Triple Launched

Re: Playland's Castaway Cove | GaleForce | S&S Launched El L

^Sweet, that's two kiddie coasters for me to nab up in the Detroit area next time I'm around there for whatever reason! Curious to hear about the other one, though.

Re: Playland's Castaway Cove | GaleForce | S&S Launched El L

I love it when small parks invest in coasters like this. However, I **** hate it when big parks do. So by that ruling this is impressive and I hope it dishes out a half decent ride.

Awight! guys, calm those jokes.

Re: Playland's Castaway Cove | GaleForce | S&S Launched El L

The cars look very odd. A few rows of seats upon a metal board.

Re: Playland's Castaway Cove | GaleForce | S&S Launched El L

The floor of the train is SO excessive. It's like what a Maurer would look like without the perforated metal flooring, it's **** gross.

Re: Playland's Castaway Cove | GaleForce | S&S Launched El L

They kind of look like wider and shorter Hyper trains they made for Titan MAX coaster in Japan. Kind of weird, I agree...

Re: Playland's Castaway Cove | GaleForce | S&S Launched El L

I mean, I was saying the trains looked like **** before we even saw them for real.

Maybe now you understand why iI think that

Not a huge fan of the raw metal. It also seems like a very small space. Still looking forward to the outcome

Is anyone else concerned about the lack of padding on the otsr's? If the ride is even a little rough it looks like it could be an awful experience...

WHAT. THE. ****. IS. THAT. TRANSITION?!

Re: Playland's Castaway Cove | GaleForce | S&S Launched El L

Sorry for the delay. I haven't had much time lately to catch up with everything, but want to get this posted before I get back to the park for the next update. This was from my trip to the Jersey Shore last week.

Here are some photos I took for those that don't want to watch the videos:

It didn't look like the weather would cooperate when I first arrived, but it cleared up quickly.

This is where Whirlwind, the SBF Visa Group kiddie spinning coaster will be built. It's going to open before the other two.

They're also starting to get ready for Wild Waves, the E&F Miller Industries family coaster that will circle GaleForce. The coaster will have two lift hills, stand 52 feet tall and feature a series of airtime hills (thus the name Wild Waves).

Here are some more photos from today as the coaster nears the topping off stage. I'll be back at the park tomorrow as they add the last couple of track pieces before the topping, which will occur either Friday or Saturday (depending on the weather). I'll also go back for that.

You can also view the live cam to watch the construction process for yourself and keep an eye out for me over the next few days.

Re: Playland's Castaway Cove | GaleForce | S&S Launched El L

Not too sure about this ride. I mean, it'll work miracles for the park, but the supports look pretty janky, the train is literally a metal sheet with seats, and it has some iffy transitions. Still looking forward to it's outcome.

Re: Playland's Castaway Cove | GaleForce | S&S Launched El L

I returned to the park on Thursday and Saturday for the topping off. I went on Thursday because the weather forecast for Saturday wasn't looking good and I want to film and take photos under better conditions. So here's what things looked like before the last two track pieces were installed:

The storage shed has to demolished to give Wild Waves four feet of clearance.

galeforce49.jpg

Wild Waves will go around GaleForce twice, so there plenty of room for the lift hill and additional track here.

But not so much over here.

On Saturday it was cold and wet, but that didn't stop the crew, who started off by bolting the last two track pieces together.

Hoisting it to the top wasn't as easy, but after about five hours they finally got it into place.

I should have the video I filmed over the two days ready tomorrow or on Tuesday.
