More info from UKRides....I know some people may be disappointed with this, but the 'new' rides are coming from Camelot. The Log Flume is one of them, but no word on any of the others.

Again, there's no official confirmation, so take it as it is.

I just hope they do a better job than LWV did with the crap they bought from Southport.

This was announced on Oakwood's Facebook page earlier today.

Oakwood Theme Park has revealed the first detailed plans of its new £4-million family-themed attraction which opens later this year.

The Pembrokeshire park is creating a major magical-themed area with seven new rides and attractions; including a spectacular water ride alongside a series of children's play areas and other themed attractions.

The pirate-themed water ride features a giant 12-metre-tall sculpted skull with a waterfall flume cascading from one of the eye sockets.

Visitors will journey through the inside of the massive rocky skull through a series of themed tableaux before their boat emerges back into the outside world via the eye.

Other rides and attractions will include a junior coaster, a mini galleon, a London taxi ride and an interactive walkthrough experience.

Work is already well under way on the new site with key ride features due to arrive over the next few weeks.

Oakwood Park Director Dominic Jones said: “It’s incredible to see how quickly the build process is going. We have got an excellent and highly-experienced team on site who are working really well together.

“When I come in every morning something new has been completed and it’s so exciting to see our plans coming to life before our eyes.

“The pirate-themed skull flume ride will look absolutely amazing and will provide visitors with an awesome new experience which is totally unique,” he added.


Set in close to 90 acres of spectacular countryside Oakwood is Wales’ biggest family adventure with more than 30 exhilarating rides and amazing experiences to discover.

A unique combination of attractions includes world-class roller, tower and sky coasters, spectacular family rides, children’s themed play areas and so much more.

Ok, if it looks anything like that artwork I'll have regained interest in the place. Also another cred (anyone know where it's coming from? I'm assuming a Camelot one?).

Nice to see it finally getting a semi-decent investment.

It's sort of interesting how the new chap has moved back to how Oakwood was set up originally - cheap rides with a theme - over the direction they took from '95 to '07 where they skimped on the theming and picked more quality, tentpole attractions (though I suppose the majority of you wouldn't consider Speed to be of any redeeming quality ).

Obviously investment is good; and a new kids area was probably the best-case investment for a park as malnourished as Oakwood had become, especially after years of investing solely in the youf. Whether or not this will put them back in stead with local competing attractions I suppose will soon become apparent, but I (not so) secretly hope this launches them back up into semi-popularity with tourists.

Although the development is aimed for younger children, it's no doubt the biggest effort we've seen from Oakwood in absolute years! Fair play to them for pushing forward with this! I was quite worried that Oakwood was heading in the wrong direction.

Yep, it's this pointless dragon coaster - it's gone from Camelot, but the diesel one is still there.

I'm finding it so hard to believe that image was taken at Oakwood. Decent theming...at Oakwood, just doesn't make sense in my head. Looking forward to seeing how the area as a whole turns out.

Oakwood Theme Park have chosen KD Theming Technologies to work with them on their new £4-million family attraction, which opens later this year.
It is known that the Pembrokeshire park is working with this UK-based company to help build a series of magical new ride experiences which include a pirate-theme log flume water ride, in which the flume will travel through a gigantic 12-metre-tall sculpted skull.
The KD Theming company have done previous work in various UK Theme Park’s including the theming for the Legoland Hotel in Windsor, the Legoland Discovery Centre in Manchester and the SpongeBob Squarepants Splash Bash ride at Nickelodeon Land in Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Oakwood Theme Park Director, Dominic Jones, comments;
“We’re delighted that KD Theming Technologies agreed to help us create our magical new attraction. They’re reputation and attention to detail is second to none and, having had the opportunity to get a sneak preview of what they have created, I can’t wait for it to be unveiled to our visitors,”
At the moment the exact details of this new attraction is being kept a secret. However, it will be very London-based, with a taxi cab ride, street scene, Nelson’s Column, Big Ben and the Tower of London and other experiences including the pirate flume ride.

They are world leaders in the design, manufacture and installation of theme park ride decoration, seasonal displays, animation, animatronics and theming.For over 30 years they have been working with theme parks to provide wonderful, interactive and magical decorations bringing ideas and dreams to life.

Had a quick check on their website, it's safe to say that their theming productions are pretty impressive! I'm very hopeful for Oakwood now, and rather excited!
