"Now Showing"

Nah, burn-E was great, but the rabbit/magician thing was better.

I've never seen Species 2, but watched Species in the cinema (Stafford Apollo, 7:30 showing). It was okay, but it was really one of the first in big budget, disappointingly formulaic special effects films. Until that point, we'd been spoiled by some really great films like that - around that time, it became all about effects and story, plot and character all fell to the wayside.

I had to see it though as I'm drawn magically to all things H.R. Giger! :)

Furie knows where it's at, Presto is clearly the best short going.

Having just read Coraline, I'm really rather excited for the film :D

H.R. Giger
Is a chauvinistic pigman with an obsession with phallic objects.

I watched Blair Witch Project 2 and fell asleep. To be fair I only watched it because I was intruiged at how there could possibly be any sort of sequel. It was crap.

^ UGH gag me with a spoon, Blair Witch 2 is absolutely terrible. It's not filmed in the same way as the first obviously, which is why the first one was so effective in the first place, so that automatically ruined it, and the storyline was just.. Lame!

My mom actually found it at a bargain shop the other day and bought it for me, and all I did was look at her, and laugh.

No new films recently, but shame on anyone seeing Lesbian Vampire Killers, I just watched the trailer, realised who is in and shuddered for about a minute.

The fat guy (James Corden or something) is hilarious. I've not seen him in any programs such as Gavin and Stacy, but from what I've seen of his character and personality in real life he's hilarious.
I really want to see Lesbian Vampire Killers. It's just seems like a light comedy horror film that's not meant to be taken seriously so with that in mind you can enjoy the film. :)

Yeah, James Corden.

What a freakin' knob-cheese. He's just annoying. He's not funny. He's one of those people that the British public seems to think is funny because he looks like a beached whale.

And must they be in EVERYTHING that's made at the moment?

I've heard Lesbian Vampire Killers is just a terrible version of Shaun of the Dead from a hot-guy who went to the premier, but, we'll see. Well, you'll see. I'll avoid anything with that fat **** and the other one for as long as I live.

Shame really, Gavin and Stacey is excellent without them. Rob Brydon + Ruth Jones + Wales = Win.

Same here can not stand that stupid fat ****er.

I am not a fan of Britney but he totally slatted her and what he said was out of order.

Dave and Ben, cause you seem to hate them I'm sure you'll both love this article on the BBC news website, HERE

Already read it, twas after the trailer I found it and lol'd. Best film since Disaster Movie I think ;)

Now if only someone reviewed films like Yahtzee does.

Got some new Blu Rays over the last few weeks:

Top Gun

I got this one during the week as my Tesco had it for £13, went to checkout, it came up as £17, so I complained and got it for £13.

Early Bruckheimer, and some fantastic action sequences, great sound in places but, at the end of the day this is purely high budget soft porn - loads of baby oils and water sprayed on some pretty uninteresting guys - I rate Cruise as an actor, not as a pin up I am afraid. Some decent extras and making of documentaries.

Anyway, decent action sequences, pants posing and romantic stuff, with DTS 6.1 gives this one a 6/10.

Righteous Kill

The first Lionsgate film I have seen (SAW) and it seemed to have the right formula with Pacino and De Niro as vigilante type cops. But this one shows yet again that formulas don't make the film. This is nothing more than an average film which, even the power of the two aces can do nothing to improve.

5/10

Phonebooth

Colin Farrell and Forrest Whitaker star in front of Kiefer Sutherland who spends most of the move as a voice. Quite a weird, yet effective plot, involving a call to a phonebooth from a psychotic killer.

DTS Sound from fox is pretty good, movie takes a bit of getting used to though.

7/10

National Treasure 2

I got this as a freebie with the Blu Ray player and it was pretty good. Cage seems to be building quite a rappor with Disney and this adventure was entertaining.

8/10

Pirates of the Carribean Trilogy

I finally got this for £30 and it is worth every penny. What is there to say about one of the best franchises in recent years? Exciting, Funny, Visually Stunning, awesome Hanz Zimmer sountrack - all round family entertainment. There is much debate about which one is the best, but I actually like them all. The only critisism is that Disney have dropped the DTS soundtrack and gone with the lesser Dolby HD.

I am not sure if The Bourne series will stand up to this as the second best trilogy ... after the Godfather :p

9/10

Cinema time today :D Saw Duplicity with Clive Owen and Julia Roberts.

It was an ok film, Paul Giamati loves as always. The story isn't exactly original but it was made in an interesting way and I loved how the transitions to different locations worked. You can tell that one guy at Trafalgar Square was looking at the camera, that made me lol. So it was an average flick with a decent score and it has some decent plot twists too, especially the last one, class.

Rating: 3/5

Just finished watching Watership Down again. What an absolutely beautiful film, I could watch it again and again. And I still didn't cry. 9/10

I haven't seen that film in years Jordan. I remember watching it in primary school.
A few months back I watched a video of clips of it on Youtube and it reminded me of how bloody and violent some of the bits are. Especially for a film that's rated U.

Edit: Here's the video.
