Moving away from metal...

As currently seen on the LoveFilm advert, James Vincent McMorrow's cover of 'Higher Love' by Steve Winward. BEAUTIFUL cover, one of the best i've heard in ages. He can't really do anything wrong in my eyes at the moment though, album's worth checking out too.

Just gonna throw this out there, Hollywood Undead - Swan Songs is a brilliant album for rap lovers, I guess some of it is rock and rap, but still, immense. Sig is HU lyrics, though from a different album ;D

Well, maybe Avenged Sevenfold should have thought about that before Dream Theater's drummer ran off with them, really...
Actually yes, I do quite like their last 2 1/2 albums...

But still:

MP you traitor! Still gets me, I couldn't tell whether there direction with MP was for the best or the worst, I mean, Black Clouds was a great album! ADToE was a slight disappointment, I just felt like Mangini could've killed the drumming but it was really weak. Still, Breaking All Illusions is wonderful!

Avenged Sevenfold are a good band, listen how killer this song is:

^It can only lead to me saying Dream Theater are much better:

Leaves me **** chills!

Edit: Just had to post this, I can't get over how epic this song/band/album is! Honestly rooting for my favourite band of all time at the moment!

One of my favourite songs ever! It's a pity the rest "The Banana Album" is a bit poor. It's okay, but Venus in furs is so blindingly fantastic, it makes the rest feel like a poor pot-head attempt at a drug induced concept album (which is was).

I think it's got quite a few good songs on. Admittedly nothing is as good as "Venus in furs" but Heroin, All tomorow's parties, Femme Fatale are all great tracks...despite Nico's disturbingly masculine tones.

I'm not exactly going to recommend it because if you don't know Kate Bush already it's quite a difficult album to get into. That sounds really patronising, and it's not meant to be because it's absolutely amazing, just maybe not the best introduction to her stuff.

It's only 7 songs, but spread over an hour, so each song is really long, and they're all connected to snow. It's typical Kate Bush in that it's all very strange and you can't really compare it to anything or anyone else. She famously doesn't really listen to any modern music (Interviewer: Who's your favourite singer right now? Kate Bush: Hmmmm, I think the blackbird). Yeah, it's a bit arrogant/pretentious, but it means you always end up with completely original stuff. This album's a lot more stripped back than most of her stuff, so it's different for her.

Some of it is just completely outlandish - a 14-minute song about having a one night stand with a snowman - but because it's Kate Bush you just kind of go with it.

Anyway, absolutely beautiful album. Seems to have been getting rave reviews as well.

Devin Townsend is an absolute God! It's very weird music, but when you get into it, it's magnificent.

Speaking of weird music, what is the weirdest song/music video you've come across... Try beating this

^If you want to play the "see how cool my taste in music is" competition, start a new topic please, otherwise this whole thread is going to be filled with absolute **** (not that it mostly isn't already) by people trying to one-up each other on how "eclectic" (translation: w@nky) their music collection is.

I'm hardly trying to prove a point of "weirdness" and showing how cool I am with an album that'll be in the top 5 at the weekend.

But fine, let's have a contest to find the weirdest music video/song and see how long it takes for this topic to turn to complete and utter ****:

Want 2 of the strangest music videos known to man where the music is still good, I win.

The Residents are an acquired taste to the next degree, I had them as my set for a long while.

And for thise who require "music" here is the strangest video i've ever seen.

I heard this on Top Of The Pops when I was 10 and remember being spellbound. It still has the same effect on me. Had this song in my collection for half my life. Really beautiful and melancholy. My favourite Radiohead song.

1000 times YES! Not my favourite Radiohead album (Kid A or OK Computer, not sure which), but that song is absolutely beautiful.
