What's new

Kentucky Kingdom | Storm Chaser | RMC Conversion

Are you kidding me! This could be up there with Medusa, might be the best of the Iron Horses!

That's gotta be sped up... surely? <3
I think I was right. Here's a YouTube video of the same clip from Instagram, if you wait until the end when the people are speaking you can hear their voices sound like they've been sped up.

I very nearly planned this into this summer's USA trip, but I had three extra days which was too long for just Louisville, but not long enough to do that and somewhere else, so ended up opting for Washington D.C instead.

I went ahead and slowed down the previous off-ride video to 75% speed. You'll notice the voices sound more natural, and a construction crew member's walk speed appears to be more natural towards the end of the video.

So yeah, I'd venture this is closer to the true speed of the roller coaster in the video. A note to those trying to doctor video - don't speak while recording.

It's also testing with riders now:

Kentucky Kingdom is known to not be the best in the appearance department but they do make it up with the quality of their additions, with Storm Chaser being no exception to this.

Is red the default track colour, maybe?

Either way that red and that purple are indeed a crime.

Otherwise yay for this park revitalising itself successfully.

Scott was filming the POV for RMC and the park and it's amazing. He's ridden it dozens of times and says that it has the pacing of Medusa Steel Coaster with even more ejector airtime. 'Nuff said really.

For those that don't want to click the link here are some of the better shots:

IOE have said on their facebook that they're tweaking the ride, lift engagement and speed etc., through the night and it's getting faster every time, even in the freezing cold! They're currently running block tests ready do 2 train tests!

Upstop Media has posted some amazing photos of Storm Chaser. Prepare yourselves:
