When you say 'pleasies' you make yourself look stupid anyway..

I can't wait to see the lift go up.. should be awesome.

^ No I don't :p . It's the dictionary of Taylor.. Which was formed with the utmost intelligence.

I'm so excited to see the completed drop, it looks absolutely ridiculous. I think it's gonna be a better ride than I am giving it credit for.

Here are a couple of Coaster Crew updates for your entertainment:

^ I love those videos. I can almost say that I was there during construction of the second giga coaster in North America; oh my! He said that there were 160,000 bolts in just the lift hill supports alone. Now we know why these big rides "don't grow on trees". Boy, it looks like these trains are going to be moving fast!

160,000 bolts?

I have trouble believing that number. Even if it only took 60 seconds per bolt, that's more than 111 days, just to tighten the bolts.

Point still stands. There's only two people in the lift basket. 60-plus days of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but tightening bolts in the lift structure? No lifting time, not accounting for nights off, that's 60 continuous days just to tighten bolts.

Somebody's got a number off.

16,000 bolts maybe? Or that's the total for the entire ride? Something's not right.

This ride looks insane! Those transitions and turns looks so much sharper then on Millenium Force, this will be one immense ride!

Apparently there's a part two that was added about 2 hours ago.....

How do they tighten the bolts anyway? By hand or with a big drill? I'd be way too scared to be up on that crane though!

I just wanna see the finished drop, damnit!

Yes Taylor they're that strong to tighten those really big really thick bolts with their hands. Once again the Canadian has really shown its true self.....

^^Pneumatic Torque Wrench, I think. A torque wrench is able to consistently tighten bolts to the exact same strength all the time, meaning no loose bolts... good news.

Once again the Canadian has really shown its true self.....

Or how about I was just asking a question hoping that people with greater knowledge on the subject would be able to help me out? Yeah.

Thanks Inverse.

This might prove helpful LifeForTheLaunch:

7:00 onwards is the part about fastening bolts. They usually insert steel pins to keep things in place first; they then insert the bolts and fasten them loosely by hand. The bolts are fastened up to their specified torque using a hydraulic torque wrench and checked using a hand torque wrench for maximum safety. Intimidator 305 may actually be using the same construction team that Griffon used, but either way the bolt fastening technique has little variation between coasters.

^He said sixteen hundred bolts (16 x 100) on the second lift support alone i.e. 1,600.

Um, no he didn't...

...but as I cannot access YouTube videos from work, I was relying on the quote posted. If it's 1600 bolts, that's totally believable.

It's depressing how little visible progress there is on I-305.
:?

i can't wait. i mean, I-305 will be awesome, i'll be posting in this alot. :p

Thanks Neo! And the reason I thought they were fastened by hand at first is because I saw a video of Millennium Force construction a while back and they were tightening bolts like that. So, I didn't know.. I'm a girl, I'm not SUPPOSE to know what hydraulic torque wrenches are :p .
