What's new

Formula 1 2009

Brilliant, I'm going to have to keep an eye on that during the races.

Well done to Jenson Button. Although the joy of his win will be overshadowed by the sad news that Bea Arthur has died.

Thats nothing then.

The Spanish GP might not happen or it might run with no spectators due to this flu thing. According to stories there has been an out break to the flu bug in that area and it has the highest number of infected Europeans.

Have no idea if I'm behind or this has been said as I don't follow this topic or even F1.

But McLaren have been given a suspended three-race ban.

EDIT: Just noticed the post two above me. :p

It's a good job they were posted on seconds before you did. If it had been over an hour, you'd have looked a right fool! ;)

Quite shocked by the result, but I guess it's because of the sacking they've got away with it?

I think its only been dont due to them holding their hand up to it, and for the good of the sport tbh.

Had they been banned they would have missed some key races including Lewis home race, people have spent a lot of money to see him. This also keeps Merc in the sport and alot of sponcers.

Lucky McLaren bastarrds! Every possible punishment that had been suggested and they end up with 'a reason not to do anything else'. I'm sure they weren't planning on breaking the rules again anyway now, so all they've got to do is behave for a bit, and they've got away with it.

1) Ollie..... fail!

2) Didn'tthink they'd be given a roasting after finding their perfectly plausible scapegoat

3) I suppose this means there is now irrefutable proof that the Spanish are swine

4) Meh

EVERY Formula 1 team "gets away" with stuff like this all the time.... so no, im not shocked nor surprised

So they've been given the £40m cap next year.

Lets see how Jake Humphrey and David Coulthard are taking the news

Seriously though, ugh, £40m and race-wins only next season.

The £40m has the potential to make things more competitive between teams making it exciting, but it also has the potential to slow the sport down :(

And no more in race refueling so I hope they change the last part of quali so its all low fuel.

Tyre heaters are also banned.

^Interesting.

I hope they also sort some rule out with the tyres too. Like just having one compound of slicks. I'm sick of hearing about type of tyre one driver is using compared to another. Have them all on the same type so its equal and nobody will have an excuses when they stuff up.

The £40m cap sounds like a good idea, especially if it means smaller teams can survive and newer teams may be attracted to the sports. But larger teams are going to have problems with it.

Great lap by Button today I hope its a good race for once in Spain.

Mclaren need a new car not just new bits, I dont know why they are wasting their time.

I would say if Button wins tomorrow thats near enough it for alot of the drivers, they will never close the gap.

Its going to be interesting to see Massa off the start line with his Kers, somehow I dont expect to see him after the 1st corner.

I felt sorry for Barichello, I want him to get pole at a race really badly.

Also Buemi once again really impressed me today, if he hadn't gone into the gravel I think he could have made the third session. I was dissapointed that we didn't get to hear his team radio though, really wanted to hear a repeat of his radio in Malaysia.

Button is about 2 laps lighter than Rubens and Massa is about 4 laps heavier.

Its looking very good for massa if he gets a good start.
