What's new

Formula 1 2009

I'm guessing the Toyotas are running on fumes. Trulli was already a second up on the final split on his last qualifying lap, so would have been even further ahead except he probably made a small mistake on the final few corners. Great to see someone new again up front but I think the Toyotas will be swallowed up quickly come a few laps into the race.

Also I'm looking forward to seeing the battle bewteen Lewis and Jenson up near the front.

Yes they are, Button and Lewis are looking very good tbh if they can keep up as is Vettel.

Kimi is very heavy big mistake I think as the tyres will not last that long.

Button's such a sweetie. I hope he wins.

I hope I get to go to Silverstone this year. My dad always gets tickets from work, but, always takes my SISTER >.< I wanna go.

That was one of the most boring races I have ever seen. Nothing happened.

Yeah agreed, the first few laps were great, lots of close racing and overtaking but once everything settled down not much happened. I ended up switching over to the Moto GP towards the end which looked equally as boring on that awful Motegi circuit.

I think bad tracks play a part in producing boring races too.

Was a dull race after the 1st few laps.

Button drove very well that move on Lewis was very brave and good, Lewis himself drove well.

But the race was over really after the first round of pit stops.

Most modern tracks are pants apart from Turkey.

Spain will also be boring then there are some better tracks.

When will the FIA learn that the problem is not with the cars its with the tracks.

^Catalunya is dull as hell.

There are a couple of decent new tracks, but most of them (ahemTilke) are a bit shiite.

San Luis in Argentina is awesome.

Looks and sounds like the plans to hold an F1 race at Donnington are just about over. The banks are pulling out and the work is not even completed.

I home Silverstone can get the deal or we will lose the British GP. If only Brands Hatch could upgrade the track :(

*cries*

Donnington is such a lovely circuit, but I doubt that there will be a British GP after this year if that happens unless Bernie makes his own circuit.

I really do think it's a wee bit bad of the government to not help with the tiny (to them) sum of a couple of hundred million pounds, which let's face it is a pittance compared to the alarmingly over budget 2012 Olympics.

Its a waste of money, the Olympics is a waste of money as well but there is also alot of private funding.

Donnington was never going to work out people said that from day 1 it was just Bernie trying to show up Silverstone. The teams the drivers have all said there is nothing wrong with Silverstone, yes it needs some paint and updating but I would rather see a race there than bloody China.

Tomorrow we will find out the punishment for Mclaren and Lewis.

Its expected Mclaren will get a fine or point deduction -30.

Lewis is expected to get a race ban for Spain so Pedro will drive the car.

^Point deduction, thats a first. Does it not usually involve the drivers race finish being deleted and then they lose the points.

Looks like the FIA are going to make an example of them. If it means less point for Lewis so someone else can win the championship then I will be happy.

Point deduction will be something new, they will just get -30 points that they will need to over turn to get tv money etc.

Lewis will keep his point and will Kovy, but Lewis will get a race ban for his part in it all.

But as someone else said, Lewis has already been punished by losing his points from the 1st race so he is being punished twice for the same thing.

We shall see anyway.

Meh, I'm over it now. Still rather wrong of McLaren but I'm not actually fussed as to what happens. As long as he gets punished for his crime that is

Has Kovalainen actually got any points to lose yet? He really is far too slow and not nearly competitive enough to be a racing driver.

Anyway, the only thing worth mentioning about the weekend's snoozefest was this quote from Jake Humphrey about the constructors standings:

"At the moment, Ferrari are completely pointless"
