Bloody FIA have come up with a stupid new points system that qualifies you to get a superlicense to drive an F1 car as a kneejerk reaction to 16/17 year old Max Verstappen getting a drive.

The following drivers would have had their F1 debuts delayed by at least a year using the new system: Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel.

All rubbish kids who definitely shouldn't have been given an F1 seat, clearly.
 
The licensing system is stupid and meaningless anyway. Dangerous people get into the sport and are not banned when they cause incidents, simply because they are rich.
 
They are just doing this as right now f1 looks stupid. Someone with hardly any experience can jump in and drive them.

Look at Srevens at the last race. Near enough no f1 experience yet did a bloody good job.

Renault series carries less points than f3 is silly as well. The cars are faster and take more skill.
 
I agree to an extent, Marc. But there needs to be leeway for exceptional talents when it's clear they are, like the names I listed.

Kimi when he started raced his first year under review, this was not needed..
 
Drivers from IndyCar here in the US are also eligible after one year of racing pending on their performance.

This reminds me greatly of Nascar's kneejerk reaction to Kyle Busch back in the early 2000s when he won a pole award sponsored by Coor's beer when he was only 16. Took them more than 10 years to finally undo it.

I also find it great that IndyCar is adapting the double points system after its horrible reception in F1, it's like no one pays attention to the other racing series anymore.
 
I used to love Indycar about 20 years ago, it's a shame just how crap is now.

I really hope the changes they are allowed to make to the cars improves the racing. It's all about fuel and push to pass these days, and bloody adverts every other lap.

Or ESPNs dastardly adverts with a small screen of the racing going on like they do every 20 minutes during the Indy 500.
 
Mark, there's a Youtube page which has the US transmission of the races up a few days after they happen, including side-by-side.

The last three Indy 500's have been really good. Loads of overtaking and action. I liked them so much I'm going to the race this year.
 
Never any point watching a race after it happened though. Cheers anyway.

Indy is good but no point watching until the last 20 laps as people don't push until then.

No Alonso for Australia (and possibly forever). There's a lot gone on with that crash that they're not letting on.
 
Nobody's hiding anything really, unless people didn't know that there was concussion involved. Head injuries in sport are not to be messed with because a second hit while the brain is still recovering can have serious consequences (coma, death etc.) so medical professionals have deemed that it wouldn't be a good idea for him to do Australia. The standard waiting time seems to be three weeks, which Australia falls under.
 
Even McLaren refused to admit concussion happened until today.

And general consensus is 1/2 weeks is the primary risk for a secondary concussion. I wonder if it's this added to his accident in Brazil 2003 that's caused something more sinister to unearth itself.
 
What a shambolic start to the season. 15 cars starting. 11 cars finished.

I'm also already annoyed at the fact we have Felipé Massa and Felipé Nasr in the same grid.
