Derek's Dueling Coaster Comp

Thanks, I made a lot of changes with the terrain section to get it right. Yeah Hades is slightly rougher, but its meant to be what with being the more evil of the two.
I genuinely have no idea how those excitement ratings came about, its not something I tried to do I just checked it last night and was shocked? I have never seen that stat so high before?
 
This is the POV video of one-half of my Rollercoaster. Due to the limitations of my machine, it takes years to record RCT3 videos with the in-game recorder. So no fancy pre-footage I'm afraid.

Its name is Dragonfly.

I suppose I should tell the 'story' of my Roller Coaster.
I wanted to build a Terrain Duelling coaster. My failed attempt previously made me decide to go over-world. It was logistically easier to build and theme. I played around with the terrain. I finally decided to flood some troughs. I wanted the coasters to look like wisps dancing around the water, care-free.
I thought naming one of them 'Mayfly' would represent this. However I was unable to think of a partner name to use. I decided to name it Dragonfly instead. Dragonfly represented the ferociousness of the insect but also its control over its flight. Damselfly logically became its partner and rival. Damselfly is similar in appearance to a Dragonfly.
The themeing is meant to be realistic British River Woodland. I wanted the environment to feel like a summer's day. I made sure I used native plants and not plant the trees too densely, because British trees don't grow like that in the wild (cough plantations of Fir trees).

The layout is short because that is how the layout organically became. I didn't want to force it to be longer than it should be and have boringness.

Personal criticism is I used too many inversions and barely any pure drops. The drop inversions potentially could cause brain haemorrhages in real-life. I hope the train doesn't go through that element with too much velocity.

I'm proud at how well the trains are synchronised. I have each layout having their own unique elements but even after those, they meet up again perfectly.

Yea, way too many inversions and really isn't realistic at all. Before you got to the "cool" upside-down for a while bits, you had quite a good coaster.
 
Some of the "drop inversions" or inverted inversions, could knock you unconcious and perhaps kill you, due to negative G's! Anyway, who cares for the welfare of peeps! :--D

Sorry I haven't been able to enter Derek! Too busy catching up on Josh 73's comp! But I have been watching this forum and I must say that every single entrants entry has been truly amazing! I couldn't really choose one if asked....and how did you get such a high excitement rating CP10! Getting intensity is easy, but is it due to the highest parts of elemnts being taken at a low speed! Anyway, I'd love to know...

I plan to make wooden duelling coasters to the same constraints soon...

Your coaster was really good CP10, great job, but scw55 there were many things I think you could've improved on. Most of them have been mentioned, but, you really need to place brakes at the end of the coaster. It makes it 10 times more realistic.

I feel I should take a picture of it as evidence lol, but yeah, its nuts. Yeah it could be to do with the speed of the ride?
 
I wasn't aiming for realism. As only one train goes round the circuit, there is no danger of death.

Be grateful that I didn't post the design where it's a stand-up roller coaster where the lift hill is inverted :D 60 second of hell ^^
 
With my game continuously freezing, along with basketball and school, I do not have time to finish this entry, so I will have to withdraw from this competition. Sorry guys. :(

Glad to see the new entries are in. Tomorrow is the last day for submissions and then I will begin my personal ratings followed by opening up the polls for the "Rider's Choice" ratings. I think I will have a specific rating system giving each competitor a rating out of 40 and then out of 10 for the Rider's Choice.
 
Alright, first off I'd like to say that (although we ended up with a somewhat small turnout) I am very impressed with everyone's effort in this competition. Every contestant entered an intriguing and strong entry and all of you should be proud with what you have put forth.

All that mushy stuff aside, I have completed my ratings for all of the entries. That means it's your turn people! The way I will do this is I will have each of you PM me your rating (out of 10, with 10 being the highest) for each contestant. After a week or so I will compile all of the ratings I get and average the scores I receive and then add it to my total. Also, I ended up making the rating out of 60 (from my side) but my score will still count as 80% of the overall score (as I stated before). Here are the names of the contestants:

I think I've found why your excitement ratings are so high. You used a CTR right ?
I downloaded a CTR B&M Extended recently and just got this :





 
It could be that yes, I think I have that CTR also. The one I used was a B&M inverted CTR, so it extremely likely that could be the case. Well spotted, I`m going to check my other CTRs to see if it`s a general CTR glitch or just the B&M ones we have used?
 
It is the general case for CTRs. I was going to point this out at some point. Basically every CTR I have gives "Ultra-Extreme" excitement ratings. I've always guessed it's not a glitch but rather just something funny the makers of CTRs have put in just for kicks. Regardless, it's practically applicable to every CTR.

And on a more related note: I hope to see a few more ratings coming in. Mouse, Josh, CoasterCrazy? Anyone else who has been following this contest. The more ratings I get, the more accurately the final scores will demonstrate "forum opinion".
 
That sort of nullifies the in game ratings then, well if you use a CTR, there`s no point posting them as it`s now completely inaccurate statistic.
 
I personally think posting in-game ratings at all for RCT3 is useless because I think they are a load of crap. The game has something against certain types of coasters and is generous with others.
