Britains Got Talent

Piers Morgan is such a nob.

QFT + Amanda "cries at almost everything" Holden and Simon.

Flawless are my favourite act I have seen so far.

Same here, but since they haven't been hyped and they don't have an interesting backstory, they won't win. They might make the finals.

I've come to the conclusion Susan Boyle isn't actually that good, that she actually misses a lot of notes and that if she tries another song, she will epically fail.

Thanks for listening.

Am I the only one who doesn't dislike Piers?
I thinks he's a great judge and the comments he gives the acts are usually similar to how I think they performed as well. He's also got a nice charm to him and is quite funny behind the scenes when he's messing with the other presenters.

Amanda is alright. Good eye candy but she just 'awws' when a child or pet comes on stage and cries really easily.

Simon's honest but thinks that sometimes he has to be mean because it's his reputation. How can so many acts be 'the' worst he's ever seen?

But as a whole the judges are good they get their job done and I couldn't imagine someone else instead of them.

I don't think everyone was amazed if she was good or not. It was more the shock to most people when she was hyped up like she was going to be terrible she's not the best looking person (putting it politely) and then she just sung and everyone was just shocked at how good she was as to how good they thought she'd be.
I hope that makes sense as reading back I've confused myself now. :?

Well, yeah... But, I mean, becoming an "international celebrity" because she's less **** than people thought she would be... please.

If she was actually a great singer, I'd concur. But, she's no better than any singer teacher you'll find. Just because she's old and ugly doesn't mean I'm going to forgive the strong errors she makes. And it's actually a surprisingly easy song. Big, but, easy for how big a song it is.

She shouldn't win, she isn't that talented. Being ugly isn't a talent.

Then why do we have ****tards like Paris Hilton making 'music' when she could do it much better!? Even if its on the radio ;)

Because Paris Hilton is very rich. And Paris wanted to sing, so, Paris' chequebook let her. I'm not saying I agree with her "singing" (loose term for it, really), but, I also seem to remember her album failing ;)

That's just the other end of the spectrum though. Unfortunately, our society idolises you if you're A. Pretty, but not very good at what you do (other examples include Leonardo DiCaprio) B. Sort-of good at what you do, but "dis-advantaged" in some way (race, sexuality or in this case, appearance) C. ACTUALLY decent at what you do.

A and B are sad and I disagree with them. Had the topic been about people that fall into the A category, like you're bringing up Dave, I'd express my disagreement to them as well. However, it wasn't.

I dunno, I just think that if she had been on the radio, I wouldn't have gone "that's a good voice" I'd have instead gone "who is this... she's a little ****". I dunno. I just overly disagree with the superficial element being bought into play, and the way society reacts to seeing someone like her.

I never said she was amazing, said she was good. Who appointed you singing judge?

A lot better than the Three Trolls :p

I never said you said she was amazing... I said that is the view society has taken on her.

I also never said I was a "singing judge" or have the "authority" that seems to suggest. I was only offering my opinion, same as you are. Deny me that, and you become a hypocrite.

Flawless were one of the dance groups that my sister did a show with last year ooooohhh. =]

Not one of the acts has been absolutely breathtaking so far in my opinion. I feel a lot of the acts that have been put through are nowhere near as good as last year or the year before.

Only one person has really stood out as a potential winner, an that was the 12 year old kid who sang yesterday. He took my breathe away.

^ Yeah, but he's already semi-professional anyway. I suppose it shouldn't matter, but when you find that out, it sours the whole thing slightly.

Plus, that whole "stop, sing another song" thing? Soooooo obviously planned. Do they really think we're that stupid? He obviously would've got through with the first song, but they had to up the drama to give Susan ****ing Boyle a bit of competition.

Soooooo obviously planned.

Thats the problem I find with the show, you don't know what is real or not anymore. Everything seems staged. The worst is when they show the audiences reaction to a certain act when they are cheering or booing. It seems like those shots are just edited in to other acts to make it look more spectacular. Also Amanda Holden crying all the time, she must have one of those fake tear sticks under the table.

Im pretty sure that most of the "interesting"/"fun" acts are plants.

Take that episode with the parrot... Why did the presenters (refuse to call them by name) choose to interview here, and be ready back stage to take the mike?

it's all a bit TOO convenient for me.

Sure there are obviously real contestants.. but they must get through a fair few out of work actors too...

(same with any show of this ilk.. pop idol/etc etc)

Why the HELL are people shocked? Why the HELL do people think that your ability to sing is in some way matched to how attractive you look?

I fail to see the connection - apart from people being so dim that they're suckered into what the marketing men/media are telling them...

I knew the general population was (by definition) stupid.. But I didnt expect to hear such nonsense from you guys...

^Are you saying you would expect a 47 year old haggard Scottish woman with a really thick accent to be a good singer?

No i'm saying "why WOULDNT a 47 year old haggard scottish woman with a thick accent be a good singer"?

(see also the number of old haggard welsh men who can sing)

Being able to sing has nothing to do with age, looks or how haggard you are. And most people lose their accents when they sing too.

^Or somehow gain an American one, which I've never understood.
