Mine was on a traveling ARM/Larson one at the local fair when I was eight. It was terrifying but I loved it, but over the years I got more and more afraid of them, to the point where I would literally have a death grip on the restraints and be swearing heavily on the ascent and you had to drag...
Depends on the ride, B & M hypers ride at the extremes of the train (some are definitely better in back (Apollo) and get the restraint as loose as possible. On some Intamins (MF and such) I'd go for a medium gap (~1") and the rest I try to tighten the restraint as much as possible because the...
The S&S zac-spin-like concept from IAAPA this year was halfway between controlled and free spinning, it used magnets at certain points on the track to encourage spinning and also inhibit it where necessary.
Also in that the restraint was probably a single position lap bar at the most, I all the other examples you gave have individual ratcheting lapbars which do a good job holding in most people so there can be less than 0g at the top, some probably hit -0.5g, while with a single position lap bar...
^ The post below the picture says it will be their second tallest ride, their current second tallest is their 140 foot tall drop tower. I think the picture is implying a 102 foot inversion.
^ It would have to be custom seeing as the largest model S & S offers is 130 feet tall. On the other hand it could be one of the S & S mag-spins as displayed at IAAPA this year.
So you'll be facing down 102 feet in the air and will also be shorter than Aftershock (200+ feet) and taller than Panic Plunge (140 feet) as well as unique in the US according to the latest hint.
Elitch really doesn't need another ride like this that's just a single element, they need a new coaster that'll at least put it somewhat on the map. They only have Twister II, an SLC and three shuttles all of which are pretty sad with the exception of Sidewinder, which is just a genuinely fun ride.
Re: Liseberg | "Project Helix" | Mack Megacoaster
SFMM should take note of this. Pretzel knot thing, hearline roll, airtime, two launches and the sexiest trains in the world, why does Sweden have to be a 14 hour flight away?
Coaster basically had me crapping my pants from the first because of the restraint that was a good 20 cm above my thighs and amazing airtime. Two of the drops left my clinging to the lap bar every ride.
First ride on TTD was incredibly frightening but it isn't so much now.
X2 first drop was...
I love the S & S OSTRs used on their drop towers and think that they would be an ideal way to go with OSTRs. As for lap bars, B & M clamshells are beyond amazingly comfortable and the way that you can get your ass off the seat if you're skinny even if you're stappled is awesome. I also really...
The best airtime moment at Holiday World was on Liberty Launch.
I love Ghostrider.
My best ride on Carowinds' Intimidator was way better than my best ride on I305.
I loved KD's Grizzly.
If this makes sense I have two lists best coasters that happen to be launched and coasters that are epic because of the launch and could be crap if they weren't launched.
First category:
1. Maverick, just amazing but it wasn't about the launch
2. Stormrunner, amazing ride that highlighted the...
Weight has no effect on the strength of airtime since all the "g's" on a coaster are simply accelerations (contrary to what most people think) and as such you could weigh 1 kilo or 200 kilos and it wouldn't make any difference, you experience the same acceleration and therfore the same sensation.
All 17 of my rides back at the beginning of August offered essentially a light float in the second to last row (the best for first drop airtime) and my butt never even left the seat in the front row, the airtime on Rebel Yell was stronger. I found I305 severely overhyped and landed somewhere in...
Re: Six Flags Magic Mountain | "Full Throttle" | multi launc
I'd say that it looks like it'll be probably in the top 5 coasters there, maybe better depending on how the YOLOOP rides.
