"Is it scary?" is the #1 question asked on CoasterForce youtube videos.
I have to confess that I don't find coasters or amusement park rides to be scary, but if I had to say which ones are scary I would think Kingda Ka/Top Thrill Dragster, El Toro, X2, Beast (at night), Millennium Force, Leviathan, Intimidator 305, Verbolten, XXL, Lex Luthor's Drop of Doom, Vertigo at Tivoli Gardens, Giant Canyon Swing at Glenwood Caverns & Sky Shot rides would all be up there.
I would pick them because of their height, speed or design (Verbolten). Of course, other people could be scared because of the restraints (i.e. falling out of a flying coaster, etc.), age/wear (it feels like the ride is going to fall apart) or even inversions (some people fear going upside down).
So what would be your Top 10 scariest coaster/rides (not counting haunts)?

I don't know about ten of them, but I'll start with a pretty good list:

-Insanity: Absolutely terrifying. 1,100 feet above the ground on top of the Stratosphere looking straight down. What more needs to be said?

-X-Scream: Around the tower from Insanity. It's so simple; just a see saw. The scary part about the ride is when the coach reaches the end of the track and you expect to lift back up, yet the track drops even lower.

-Leap the Dips: unexpected, but my first go on the ride, I wasn't sure I was going to live or not.

-X: Flipping forward and facing straight down that first drop is pretty intense.

-Griffon: Similar to X. You're just hangin' there for a few seconds with just a horsecollar holding you in your seat.

-Skyrush: When the train crests the hill and you experience some of the most intense airtime(fact) on any ride, you think you're going to get thrown from the train.

-Large drop towers: Not so much for the smaller towers, but rides like KI's and KD's Drop Tower, Power Tower, the one at SFStL still get my adrenaline pumping to the max and I end up walking away like Bambi.

I haven't really thought much about the scariness of rides, although there have been some moments where I legit feared for my life due to just how bad/intense/incredible the ride/coaster was. I guess I can give a top 5, but a top 10 will need a hell of a lot more thought.

5. Haunted Mansion @ Knoebels: Rode it and had quite a few moments where I'd scream like it's a horror movie, the truck headlights and the spiderwebs were the highlights for my reactions.

4. Python @ Busch Gardens Tampa: So darn rough that I had a headache for a good 16 hours after riding it, felt like I was in a boxing match where I just constantly got hooked in the face for 2 minutes.

3. Maverick @ Cedar Point: I had never experienced a beyond vertical drop before this ride, and I must say it gave me the "I hope these restraints actually work" feeling as I was falling into the harnesses.

2. Skyrush @ Hersheypark: Hitting that first air time hill with my hands up enjoying the ride and then immediately clamping on to that lap bar screaming " **** **** **** **** ****"

1. Mean Streak @ Cedar Point: The jackhammering, the pain, aarrrrrgh the nightmares.

I second the the one's I've bolded.

Ka(and I would assume TTD though I haven't ridden it)- If you dislike heights (and I do) this(these?) are really creepy. After riding Ka I found it thoroughly meh but the anticipation was killing me (Jer could tell you)

I'd also like to add to Skyrush the lift hill. Slow-->Fast-->WTF-->Holy crap. That thing MOVES.

Enclosed coasters. Scary may not be the right description but the anticipation of not knowing what is happening can definitely be felt in the stomach

When I was little, the scariest part of any roller coaster ride was actually the lift hill, because I didn't know what anti-rollbacks were so I was always afraid that the chain just might snap & we'd slide backwards into the station and explode. Guess I can blame RCT for putting that silly notion into my head. :)

I'm sure I'm like most of you in that roller coasters and most rides in general don't really scare me at all, but if I were to rank the scariest ones I've done, I guess they'd be:

1. Kingda Ka/TTD - There's no other coaster that maxes out speed and altitude the way these two do. They just look more intimidating than anything else, and then once you get strapped in and get ready to launch, the anticipation is killer.

2. Skyrush - Because I've never felt less attached to a train or more like I was going to be thrown a great distance to my death.

3. Windseeker - Personally, I found this ride to be semi-terrifying. I'll admit I'm actually somewhat afraid of heights, so being up that high for that long made me feel pretty tense.

4. KD's drop tower - The slow climb to the top really builds up the anticipation. Somehow, the height doesn't bother me as much on this one though. Probably because Windseeker's seats are a little more exposed and don't have OTSR's, unlike your typical drop tower or space shot.

5. Griffon - Though nothing at all about this ride scares or intimidates me one bit, I'd think that being dangled over the top of a 200+ foot vertical drop makes a lot of riders feel a little squeamish. On every train, you can count on at least a few people to start screaming even before the train drops.

6. Every other hyper/giga I've ridden - Just because of the height, these can certainly be fairly scary. Once they get rolling, though, it's all just good fun.

7. The Incredible Hulk - I've never understood how so many people claim the launch catches them by surprise, because, hello, you can see the train shooting out of the tube enclosing the lift hill! Nonetheless, if you aren't prepared for it, I can definitely see how this ride could be scary.

8. Fahrenheit - Vertical lifts are just weird. They feel a little unsettling and disorienting (although maybe this is just a personal thing, deep-seeded in my childhood fear of chain lifts :) ). This, combined with the beyond-vertical drop, gives this ride a decent fear factor.

9. Verbolten - Several launches, a disorienting indoor section, and a track drop add up to make a surprisingly scary ride, especially for first-time riders who don't know what to expect inside the event building. For proof, just pay attention to the reactions of some of the strangers on your train next time you ride.

10. Big Bad Wolf (at night) - This ride experience is really more awesome than scary, but I'm kind of grasping at straws to make a top 10 anyway, so this'll have to do. BBW is (or was  ) easily the one ride in my count that improved the most by riding it at night. Most of the ride's area was dark and fairly well-removed from brightly-lit pathways, and this combined with the swinging motion of the cars to create a really intense out-of-control feeling. You'd only see the building facades and track supports come out of the darkness just as you were seemingly about to collide with them. Then, on the second lift hill, they used to faintly play a howling sound effect that was very chilling and effective. I really like Verbolten, and I understand that coasters have an operational lifespan beyond which they just aren't cost-effective to maintain, but I still think it's a damn shame that Busch took this ride out.

I'm not really scared of any coaster, so far... If I'd get a ride on Kingda Ka or TTD, I'd probably **** my pants.
So far, the attractions that scared me:
1. GhostVille, Mirabilandia - I was scared through the whole ride, it was a great haunted mansion, but sadly got revamped as an upcharged haunted walkthrough
2. Intamin drop towers, dangling in the air, not knowing when you will be dropped down makes it so scary :p
3. Infernis (or something) in Gardaland, It was a haunted walkthrough and it was only scary if you were walking in the front third of your group. Also got dismantled before the season start

oh boy, I still get scared, and while I cant name 10 I can name some rides I have been scared on, it's usually the first ride only.

Skyrush - I mean, I was terrified to begin with, and my first ride was in the back row, and that airtime on the first hill was just like nothing else.

Fahrenheit - Back in 2009 when had little experience and had never ridden a ride like that before, so naturally I was terrified.

Possessed - I cant really explain this one, it doesnt do anything and now I find myself enjoying it, but way back when I was terrified by it.

The Drop Tower at SFA - Shut up, I don't like drop towers

I mean, that's really it as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure there will be more in the future.

Skyrush was exhilaratingly scary! It was so refreshing to experience that kind of fear again, awesome.

Oblivion/SheiKra/Griffon are amazing for scares, that vertical drop gets me every time.

Drop towers make me nervous in general, whether 100ft or 300ft. Terrifying.

Im honestly surprised this ride hasnt appeared here yet.

Toboggan. These things are the only coaster type ride that has EVER made me question myself while waiting in line for it. Ugh, the lift and the whole going into the ride is just gut wrenching for me. Plus it is the only time Ive come off shaking.

Other than that, pretty much drop towers (especially if they tilt forward) and the older, more rickety steel coasters are the only ones to get my heart pumping in a bad manner.

I actually found Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom a little terrifying! It was quite nice actually, I hadn't felt that feeling on a dark ride for many years now.

^I totally forgot (somehow?!) what Dinosaur was/did. When I went to Orlando in 2010/11 we went on it and my youngest cousin came on it with us. She doesn't really like rides in generally, darkness scares her and anything loud scares her. You can imagine her reaction.

The one ride at Disney that frightens me. Went with my friends in 2010 and they wanted to go on it so I said you will regret this...

They regretted 110%

Coaster basically had me crapping my pants from the first because of the restraint that was a good 20 cm above my thighs and amazing airtime. Two of the drops left my clinging to the lap bar every ride.

First ride on TTD was incredibly frightening but it isn't so much now.

X2 first drop was just **** incredible.

Tatsu's lift hill was another incredibly frightening experience the first time.

Skyrush when it started to remove my shirt on the first drop.

The only time in a while I have been scared on a coaster was alpengeist, my restraint did not lock until we almost crested the lift. I was literally thinking about jumping out of the train onto the catwalk the whole way up (was on the edge, would of hurt I know). Especially because I have had those seat belts pop off on B&M inverts before (Afterburn).

And yes nobody checked my restraint before launching the train.

Another one from WDW....Space Mountain. I wouldn't say its a scary ride, but I definitely wasn't expecting what I experienced on my first go, at the front on the Omega side. I know both sides are the same, but Omega felt more 'insane' to me, so there definitely is a difference somehow.

Its like Blackpool's Wild Mouse in the dark <3

There different layouts one has more dips etc the other more corners so you get different levels of g (not that there's much)

Really?

I thought the layouts were identicle (opposites, obviously), but climes into the MCBR's on Omega were pretty violent, made from extreme airtime, which was quite painful. Yet the Alpha side just felt a little less violent, the track just felt smoother and not as exciting.

^Yes! Orlando's Space Mountain is terrifying in an omg we're going to die kind of way, totally forgot about that. Mega.
