What's new

What made you fall in love with coasters?

John Wardley calls it the first in the world here but hadn't Batwing from Vekoma been open for a year at this point? According to Wiki anyway.

I always thought they'd struck a deal with Six Flags to open it before Superman to get the World's First claim so a bit confused on the chronology now.
Tussauds marketed Air as the Worlds First TRUE Flying Coaster. A bit of a stretch, the worlds first flying coaster was actually built in Manchester for Granada Studios.

It was just a marketing phrase used to highlight that this was new technology and a new ride model that the GP could understand. Similar to when people use the phrase "next gen".

Interesting. But again they must have known that wasn't true at the time with Batwing so were they just relying on the public not being savvy enough at that point?
