What's new

^The use of the original actors is an interesting point. Most of them filmed/recorded new bits for the attractions apart from the main three. Apparently you can really tell the difference between new stuff shot with Helena Boham Carter and old shots from the film of Watson and Radcliffe. Apparently it's so bad they look like they're out of a computer game where they've tried to improve the original footage. Apparently the voice actress to replace Emma Watson for the new attractions is also really noticeable. I don't understand how they were able to get EVERYONE apart from those two?

I'm hearing good things about both attractions to be honest. I've not read much that is negative?

It's not really negative it's just people saying the rides are not living up to the hype. They are good rides just not as good as people thought they would be.

As I've said I've only seen the train, it's a really interesting concept and idea just wish the cgi was better but as said in real life it might look better.

And yes the voice differences are really noticeable. I don't get it either the real actors could have done a voice anywhere in the world.

Those seats look awful in my opinion. They are deep with a high floor, my legs aren't particularly long but I can tell I will be using my knees as earmuffs for this. If those seats were another 6 inches higher all problems would be solved.

A lot of it I'm sure with mixed reviews is just the hype vomit that has been spewed, with good reason. And really, this isn't targeted for repeat, season pass holders. You are trying to attract people from all over the country and world to come see it, and 99% of those people will only go once, MAYBE TWICE, in a 5 year period. While enthusiasts might be disappointed, Jack and Jill from Montana with their kids won't be.

Perspective.

Yeah I see your point, and tbh I don't know if the mixed reviews are coming from enthusiasts or the public.

From what I've read the majority of the negative feedback online has originated from enthusiasts, in which case; they set themselves up for a loss already, as most do with every **** coaster/ride on the planet.

I think if you see it at face value, you'll have a good time. I did the same with Forbidden Journey, I built it up and thought it was **** **** the first time I rode it. The more we went on it, the more I started to like it just at face value as I appreciated what a fantastic use of technology it truly was.

If the general public like it - Universal have done their jobs well.

Agree with you their lofty. I tend to ride with an open mind and loved the last Harry Potter ride plus Rip Rocket which got slated.

It's strange though as the positive reviews I've read are on enthusiast sites it's mainly Facebook comments where the negativity has been.

Forbidden Journey is amazing. Rode that some many times, and it just never let up for me.

However I found Rip Rocket to awful... :p

There was a whole week's worth of media event and most of the fan sites/bloggers got invited along, meet the cast, ride the ride etc.

It hasn't been mentioned here yet but it's having a LOT of technical issues, most media peeps had at least one evacuation from the ride. They have literally just opened the diagon alley area up for soft opening but I doubt we'll see the ride with guests on until opening day.

There have also been problems in the new area, shop signs that hang have had to be taken down and replaced.

On the topic of the voices and acting. The main three (Radcliffe, Grint and Watson) declined the opportunity to record new footage as they're no longer wanting to just be associated with the Harry Potter franchise. They're wanting to broaden their acting opportunities instead of always being linked to Harry Potter. I heard getting them for Forbidden Journey was a task in itself so it's understandable why they turned it down this time. However if the CGI screens look unrealistic and their voices sound unbelievable I don't see the point in the doing the ride in the first place...

The ride idea is brilliant and going from one park to the other using the train is what fans will love.

Kids won't even notice the voices etc.

Maybe it would have been better to have no voices? But it is what it is.

Bit upset they said no, it's like a min of voices from a film that's given them everything.

I was at Diagon Alley Saturday with my better half. We LOVED it, but were secretly hoping Gringotts would open for the public as it was Fourth of July weekend and the day after the Fourth  . It was really busy, but not too unbearable. The dragon really is something else. We waited right in front of it for it to "attack" us. Luckily I drank a fire resistant elixir beforehand. There are a few potions available for you to try out!

We talked to some employees and the ride most likely will not soft open to the general public. We have to wait for the grand opening (tomorrow) . The ride seems to be incredible, according to the employees. The look in their faces told me they weren't just saying that. I was told by an employee that the ride is not as scary as Forbidden Journey*, and does not have as many drops as the Mummy**, but is similar to both. If this is true, I will love this ride as the aforementioned rides are my favorite rides there plus Rip Ride Rockit.

Does anyone have any ideas on the manufacturer? My guesses are Primer Rides, Vekoma, Oceaneering International, or a combination of some of these. I'm hoping for Primer... they have built some GOOD RIDES! Intamin would have been my choice if I were building the ride tho :--D

*I don't think Forbidden Journey is scary... It is pure AWESOME
**Mummy has drops?

Yes the mummy does as you get airtime on one of them.

The ops are saying what others are saying tbh, but others say it's a mix of the mummy and Spider-Man.

Not the best video, but to me, it looks **** fantastic as an experience.

People have been queuing to get in since 04:30 this morning, thousands of people.

I get the hype and people want to be the first, but bloody hell that's just madness lol.
