Track "seperates" on The Smiler

Re: Track "seperates" on The Smiler

I'm just hoping they have learnt their lesson now and stay away from Gler, just a shame they did not learn it after Saw.

It's pointless building a coaster that is down more than running.

Alton for Wing Coaster next, please! Or even better, a Wing Rider!!!!! <3

That'd be pointless! Wing riders need a drop of sufficient height if the layout is to be thrilling. Besides, Thorpe have the exclusivity on the wing rider, like Alton has with the dive machine...

No they really don't.

B&M's wing coasters are usually pretty tame at the best of times, so you're never going to get a particularly intense experience out of one. Making the coasters big doesn't do anything to make them more thrilling.

Raptor is probably the smallest of the wing coasters, and it's actually pretty good. I wasn't impressed with Swarm, which unfortunately seems to have become the template for the coasters that followed. Somehow the design doesn't seem to scale up particularly well.

Erm, No.

Er, yes. Alton will always be famous as the park which houses the first dive machine concept, the same as everyone now associates the UK wing rider with Thorpe. You know exactly what I mean, don't be difficult.

MouseAT - unless Alton do a lot of digging, where would they stick a lift hill of decent height? Raptor's lift hill is "only" 108.3 ft, but even Alton's planning restrictions wouldn't allow for something of that size.

^ So you heard that from WHERE? Tell me your sources and I will believe you.

*EDIT*

Oh, I see where the confusion is creeping in here. Perhaps I should have worded my earlier post better.

The point I was trying to get across was that both parks were the first to introduce a new ride concept. These parks will always be associated (from the public's point of view) with that particular ride type, so it would be quite pointless for another park to build one of the same major projects.

^this.

Besides Thorpe have Saw as their 'diving' coaster so it would be a pointless instalment now to be honest, they really should have gone with Krake though over Saw, oh well.

And with Alton already having Air I would put that in a similar category to a Wing Rider, yes I know they are completely different contraptions but they ultimately achieve the same goals, an intimidating but less intense major attraction with a unique riding position, Plus as mentioned unless you start digging again a Wing Rider just wouldn't fit, I would be shocked to see a 60-70 footer turn up.

That much is true. They'd have to dig, or build it somewhere where the terrain works in their favour (near the valley perhaps?). It's not exactly straightforward, nor would it necessarily be appropriate to the park (although I have to admit I wouldn't mind seeing one being installed).

I stand by my point though - bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to B&M's wing coasters.
