Good man, such an awesome film. I've found it aged badly, but back when it was released, it was incredible. Glad that it's still enjoyed further down the line.

2. High Fidelity

Am I the only person (other than Madame_Furie) who doesn't get the love for High Fidelity? See, I don't really like This is Spinal Tap, but I can understand why others like it. It's just a taste thing, but I can recognise where that taste lies and understand it.

High Fidelity though was just annoying people farting about, being annoying. And sappy. Sappy annoying people farting about doing sappy things in an annoying way. Also angsty. Angsty sappy annoying people farting about doing sappy angsty annoying things in an annoying way.

Apart from the relief of the title credits, I actually couldn't find anything anyone would enjoy about it. Yet people do. It's a complete mystery to me

And an almost fanatical devotion to the pope?

Shush, or people where realise where I stole my sense of humour from (like they hadn't already guessed :p )

Ah, I forgot to mention that 'Sappy Angst' is my favourite genre of film! I think it helps if you have read the book, as the film represents the books' characters really well - they're exactly how I pictured them in my head, which isn't usually the case in film adaptations of books.

I understand that a film based entirely on geeks obsessing over music and their exes might not be everyone's cup of tea; but there are far more annoying, angsty, sappy films out there than this: Twilight, Bridget Jones' Diary, Sex and The City...actually, pretty much most rom-coms and tween franchise films.

Oh, it's definitely better than all those other films I've avoided watching because they're in no way shape or form worth my time ;)

I've heard that it's one of those "if you've read the book..." films. I haven't

I also dislike John Cusack, Jack Black winds me up (though he's probably actually the least annoying of the characters in High Fidelity :) ) and pretty much hate Joan Cusak (in fact, I don't have a good thing to say about the entire family other than their personal hygiene isn't bad ;) ).

So it didn't have a great start :D

Sorry, not picking on you and I don't have an issue with you loving the film - I just don't understand, but it's me, not you... Let me make you a mix tape about it :p
