The Truth About Disneyland Paris

Erol, not once have I paid more than I normally would for a meal in London or Paris. I do something called, not eating steak. If it's so expensive to keep eating steak then why keep paying out for it?

Yeah, some places are a bit annoying (service is slow in the Hyperion place) but I've never gone "this food isn't worth the amount I paid for it". It's not because I'm a massive fanboy, it's because I go there expecting it to cost a bit more than everywhere else. Not every meal has to be a massive gourmet meal and with the exchange rate being so cripe the last few years it feels like we're paying a fortune compared to what visitors used to pay.

I've never eaten in the Planet Hollywood as they went downhill as a company years ago and have ceased making nice edible food.

May I take this opportunity to jump into this rehash of previous discussions to say again how crap Space Mountain: Mission 2 is? Thanks.

Not being funny Erol you said the food at Portaventura was good and it was expensive and horrid so much so Mark would not eat there :)

Lol, this topic is slowly becoming a bitch-fest... :D

How many parks have actual decent pricing for food WITHOUT discounts (something we are very used to in the UK)?

I would guess not many...

In the end Disney have changed a lot over the recent years, with the fixation on Pixar rides being my main annoyance... If you don't like the food, take packed lunch (yes I do realise many holidays do not involve such things, but buy some sarnies in the new Starbucks)...

The park is losing money, and a main source of income will be food, so inflating the price may help them, or it may put people off buying food... But to say that the food is terrible is silly, if it were terrible I'm sure many of us will have died from food poisoning or something by now...

What Paris needs is massive expansion to both parks, although Studios would be better off being started again because it's a nightmare design and kinda shows what Disney were like in the early part of this decade, another example is of course California Adventure...

Paris does indeed have very random opening times for their restaurants, hell this year was the first time I'd seen Hakuna Matata actually open in nearly 15 years odd of going... But the food is still perfectly edible, and better than anything at Burger King...

If people are gonna let lunch ruin their day, then go hungry...

Indeed.

This topic was started when I was discovering just how difficult DLP have it and so on. I've added to it as more things have happened and this somehow has turned into a more general bitch about anything and everything.

Food is good in PA - Where I took everyone for the steak was great, you went off elsewhere :P

It's not the cost that I'm moaning about, I'm moaning about the quality of the meals for the money they charge.

And they wonder why they're making a loss on food because people are bringing in their own food.

Lower the cost, raise the standard!! Duhhh

I have only eaten in a few places in the park but normally have problems finding things open due to the time of year I go

Yeah I do too. They rotate the restraunts daily, which is good because at least you can try each restraunt. Though they should really have some sort of programme/table at the park entrance letting you know which ones are closed that day.

If people are worried that the delicious cheesy Hot Dogs and Chillie will kiil them, why not eat at that nice deli in Main Street?

Not everyone likes steak and it was bloody expensive and when on a budget you can not afford things like that :) But thats a different park anyway.

Trust me when I say DLP has got 100% better than when it opened in every single way.

^ My Steak, Chips and drink cost me 13 euro's, which is 1 euro more than a burger chips and drink in DLP.

Because sandwiches are a load of bollocks.
I only ever eat hot food when I'm out, deli's are a waste of money and I never enjoy them...

They need to up the quality of their hot food.

I dont want to go on about it but when we went to Spain 13 euro was 13 pounds and there was no way I was going to spend that, sorry but that is not cheap. The last thing I would want is steak and then ride.

A burger and chips at DLP was 6 euros when I went last year. This was cheaper than a BK meal at Thorpe and was better.

The food is the least of DLP's problems.

The staff and shows are the main problem there as far as I am concerned, they just dont get into everything Disney. And then they go on strike about not getting a pay rise.

And they need new attractions which they are getting.

Ok ok ok. ENOUGH about food already. Food is NOT what this topic is about. Seriously. Give it up about the food already please.

Problem with the three new attractions for 2010 is that they all have terrible capacity. Although 2012 should be bringing us something with a huge capacity

I agree a little about the staff. I tend to find that over half of them are uber Disney, very kind, helpful and just help make your day that much better. Then you have the rest which can ruin it for people. I think the worst case I've seen is the pedantic staff who keep telling everyone off for having their feet on the curb way before a parade comes along (everyone stands up on the pavement when the parade begins anyway).

I love their shows. A little annoying that they axed both of the major shows in DLP. Both Lion King and Tarzan now gone, without replacements. However they have increased the amount of streetmosphere (random little shows outside around the park) and the main show on the new stage in front of the castle is very entertaining (and the dancers are really good).

The real question is though will I have already been on this attraction in America before? ;)

Unless this is that other Pixar themed ride they want in the Studios... 2012 is my next time I want to go, so it better be worth it considering I wanna stay on site yet again because on-site beats off-site for me... Especially when I'm close to getting all the hotel credits ;)

The problem with Soarin is that its another slow through put but high capacity ride that simply will not work in DLP unless they change the film.

WHERE?????
The cheapest was McDonalds at 7 euros. The whole park has exactly the same fast food menu. I went both last summer and this summer, and it's still 12 euros.

Erol... We are leaving the food behind now dude!

Unfortunately that is unlikely to ever happen in the short term.

It seems that the current managament are extremely unwilling to try out new prototypes and so on. They are much more likely to get an attraction that is already established in the states and therefore "tried and tested". Hence the later additions being either out of the box clones or flats. Tis a shame really.

According to some reports DLP have been offered attractions by the imagineers but they are unwilling to pay out for the technology development and so on.

What rides are you people talking about? :P

It looks like it's between two rides at the moment, either, The Little Mermaid attraction (Disneyland California's will open in 2011 and WDW's will open 2012). Or, it could be a brand new dark ride based on Pixar film, Ratatouille. If it is the latter it will, apparently, use the same system as the Winnie the Pooh attraction in Tokyo (or is it Hong Kong?). Obviously everything is rumours as DLP management don't seem to like letting anyone know anything. Where with Hong Kong, WDW, and DL, all the concept art has been released for their up and coming attractions for the next few years. DLP management haven't even released info and concept art for next years addition.

I have to admit that as a fan it is getting harder to praise the management and keep a bright outlook for the future of the resort.
