The Truth About Disneyland Paris

Yeah the food and drink prices are rediculous, its not like they don't know about it either its got to be why they are doing these free food deals at the moment. But if you read the small print you can only eat of a certain menu, which is why I didn't go for it.

Also Disney do advertise trips to Paris in the parks and hotels quite a bit don't know if anyone actually does it though. I have been to DLP about 10 times and never been to Paris

Also as a side note I don't know if you have seen this but I really enjoyed watching it. Its about the construction of Walt Disney Studios, quite a good watch for any Disney fan.

DLP is definitely lacking something 'Disney', its missing something in the atmosphere that seems to bring florida alive.

Strange that, as my only qualm with Florida was that it seemed to be lacking some Disney magic that I found DLP has in bundles.

Interesting.

I think that both are missing something that the original DL has.

Just kidding.

Everybody seems to like the Disney park they went to first or the most frequently more than any they visit later in life.

Yeah completely true that. DLP was my first ever Disney experience when I was 9 years old and has always seemed more "Disney" to me and is the one I visit most often. Bit of a DLP fanboy me :)

Tokyo's next on my list of Disney parks to visit and I will probably prefer DLP's magic Kingdom to Tokyo's.

Can't see me prefering the studios over DisneySea though! :)

^I've never read a single report from anyone who's been to Tokyo Disney that hasn't said that it pisses all over Paris on every conceivable level.

DLP is the council-estate cousin of the Disney family of parks.

Haha, just been reading the newly released DLP annual results. We heard through the grapevine that it would include the announcement for Toy Story Playland, well it does but in the most boring way, it's like they don't even want it lol.

Oh and all figures are slightly down. Mainly due to us Brits not going over there and spending our moneys. Hotel occupancy was down slightly to 87% though which, in all fairness, is absolutely amazing considering the economic climate (most hotels apparently don't even get anywhere near that figure).

They also blame most falls in revenue etc on all the promotions they have had on meaning guests don't have to spend as much to get in etc. Oh, also includes details on that debt they are still paying off (planning to pay back 90 million Euros next year  ).

You can read the full report HERE

^Great video of the cf trip to london last year :) lol.

You know if they stopped letting people in for free and lower their prices they would probably make more money.

For me the hotel figures are false due to the number of people staying there for free. You think a family of 4 go, they are not paying for the 2 under 7's.

Ha, that shows me for not paying attention to what link I paste into my posts :P I've changed it now to what it should be

Tbh, I think the 87% rate of rooms with people in them isn't/shouldn't be affected by the promotions. As long as a room has one paying guest it counts. Hell, I've stayed in a family room with only one other person, does that mean it doesn't count as not all the beds were occupied by paying guests?

He prefers DLP's MK to Tokyo's.

You got me. A French guy, an admitted DLP fanboy, whose home park is DLP, and had never been to any other Disney park before. Fantastic judge right there.

Once again Gavin has made me almost roll on the floor in laughter!

Yeah hilarious

Either way, Mr gavin has now read a trip report that doesn't "Piss all over Paris on every conceivable level". Enjoy.

They really need to lower prices on food, merchandise, and also the hotels. It's beyond ridiculous. They shouldn't be afraid to try lowering the prices. I for one feel it would be better for them.

Paris is an absolute hole.

Council estate's being kind.
I don't understand why so many people seem to hate DLP so much. I'm not oblivious to the fact that maintenance isn't the best, the entertainment is slipping, prices are too high etc. (in fact I've written to them about things like this several times); but the overall experience is still much better than nearly every other park in the world. Disneyland Park itself is one the most well-designed Disney parks on the planet after all, and it is generally agreed that it has the best versions of the classic Disney attractions.

No need to be so harsh people!

But there is also the flipside. See I absolutely love Disney. I love all the resorts and always get really excited about visiting them. BUT rather then be a total fan boy about it, I am not afraid to call them out on some of their amazingly fundemental flaws within ALL of the resorts. They all have flaws. Some more glaring then others...

The point being, despite the fact I love them all (that I have visited WDW, CA & DLP), I also stand by my opinion that DLP is the weakest of the resorts overall and the fact that they are showing such losses is no real surprise. It was never going to be easy to weather the financial storm. In years to come as the situation improves, I would really love to see DLP become the world-class resort destination (alongside the other worldwide resorts) it deserves to be, with people clambering to get from the USA to come visit Paris instead of going to WDW.

Going back to what was mentioned about food prices.. Its not their fault that our Pound is so weak at the moment, so why should they lower there prices? And the majority of their visitors probably come from a Country using the Euro, so I dont think you can complain about things like that really.

I see what you mean, but something is stopping the majority of guests from buying food/merchandise as much as they used to. It's either the price, or the product itself.

It isn't just the fact the pound is so weak though. Even at the pounds best the food is extremely expensive!

25Euro for a main course is very expensive. Especially when you start adding on drinks and anything else.
