The Games we play...

There's no way to counter the argument Malc. You can't convince me I'm not having fun, and I'm not being entertained. I am, and more so now that any other time in my gaming life.

There's no argument, I'm just one of this generation's customers who are happy with it. :)

It's all Clam and Ollie's fault.

They cause arguments and crap.

BANHAMMAR! or something. Maybe just a quick timeout?

^^^^Much better post Ollie! Now we getting somewhere (even if kimli do not like ). As for Smelly's point, I'm more on furie's side. I wasn't disappointed with this round of next gen consoles, as I don't count the Wii as next gen, but I agree that the PS3 graphics don't match up with those of the 360 (my main reason for not purchasing one).
As for older consoles, well I never felt the need for one. The PC outperformed them all and as a shooter fanboy, the titles available simply could not be matched (Doom, Wolfenstein, Heretix, Quake, Unreal, MTK, Duke Nukem 3D, Descent, etc.). I had to give up the PC however when every new game required a video card & memory upgrade at a massive cost (to counter Ploddish, plus PC titles no longer rule). Of course the release of Halo on the Xbox forced my hand anyway and I also added racing titles to my list of must-haves (racers were poo on the PC way back when).
So as Mr. furie so rightly points out, it's all about having fun. I have to say however that the days of blasting the crap out of my friends on Doom, Quake & Unreal haven't been matched on any console, but that's simply because of the 'newness' of the online shooter back in the old days.
Today's game titles simply blow those old ones away and Gears of War 2 (I downloaded the new map pack last night!) is just mind-bogglingly awesome. And thanks to the next gen consoles I can enjoy other game types that I would never have played before (RPGs like Fable II, Fallout3 or Oblivion before that; Music rhythm games like Rock Band & Guitar Hero or even DDR; Action/Adventure games like GTA, etc.) and Racers (like Burnout Paradise & even Test Drive) have jumped forward by leaps & bounds.
So to sum it all up...

Games are meant to entertain. So the consoles do succeed in what they're meant to do. I want to continue to be entertained by new games, which do new things, or old things in a different way.
Surely that is the point? I don't care about hardware, or generations, as long as there are great games which keep me entertained! (minor edit  )

Ollie if you're working your way through the trophies... be prepared for mega frustration at World at War on Veteran, I'm getting so ****ing pissed off with it.

I still think people should "invest," in Touhou and Cave Story 'cause they are easy to find and free AND they both have a huge fanbase that can help with patches and crap.

GET DEM!!!!!

That's probably the last one I want to do for trophies as some of them are extremely difficult. The story is mentally and physically draining and I don't want to play through it more than one extra time.
Also I want to get to 1st prestige online first. :p

Hey!

GTA IV supports trophies now. Why didn't anyone tell me? :p

So yeah, I started a new game on there before finishing the other one, and now I have some trophies. GO ME.

Im not trying to counter the argument.. there is no argument.. I just stated an opinion that I personally think home isnt very good - and sonys time wouldve been better spent making games. As someone who tends to be a fan of sony's 1st party games - even more so. When i think of the games Sony have cancelled recently but kept this project running - well the mind boggles. But that's just my opinion...

Its you lot who are taking that as an argument about which game system is bestest not me! I have problems with ALL 3 of the new machines this time around...

Anyways - it's irrelevant - As EVERYONE knows the best machine is the spectrum...

EDIT: Just realised i posted last night while drunk saying i *WAS* going to counter the argument.. But anyone who knows me knows that i get argumentative when drunk - so that doesnt count.

Exactly!

Sony losses $100 for each PS3 sold and must reply on their software to make any sort of profit for the SCEA division.
I simply don't understand their business model when they cancel profit making games in favor of a free 'sandbox' attachment to their user interface.
Obviously Sony, like Microsoft, are trying to emulate the commercial success of Nintendo's Wii (and to an extent the 360 - the trophies Lain mentions above) but at an expense that cuts heavily into any profit margin they could hope to achieve. At least Sony is diversified enough to overcome (for the time being) the huge losses the SCEA division in currently enduring.

Played Zone Of the Enders just now. A couple of days after I bought it.

It's great so far ^_^. Camera is a bit nrgh but I'll get used to that.

Home is back online. With new clothes to download as a present. :D

Urgh. This is going to be a long week waiting to get Little Big Planet.

Kim - ZOE is a great game, it just got repetative. I find that a lot with those kind of games. Dynasty Warriors et al - it's just smash buttons ad infinitum.

I like it for a little while, but then it just becomes really tedious. Still, lovely game and one of the more under-rated PS2 release titles.

Its a little short isn't in though? Either this one of ZOE: 2nd runner. Can't remeber which one is said to be short.

I also tried lord of the rings the third age last week as well. The battle system isn't as good as FFX ATM and I still have thief deadly shadows to do. :|

Got all 61/60 treasures on 'Uncharted' today. :D
Also got some other trophies and need to play through the game on the hardest difficulty and get some more kills with weapons I tend not to use to get most of the rest.

Also I wish they would hurry up and make a full Locoroco game for the PS3. Every time I go past the screen advertising it in 'Home' I stop and dance to it as the music is so ****ing awesome.

Just listen to how funky it is. And if that's only the menu music then think what the rest will be like. :D

OMG OMG OMG OMG! I JUST MESSED IN MY PANTS!!!!

I think I'm liking these Uncharted games a bit too much. :p

Also. On Home I now have a character that looks Exactly like Santa. :p
I've got the coat, jacket, hat, gloves, boots, beard and belly. :p
I also have a much bigger house which has two floors, and I found out that once you've bought on item (sofa for example) then you have unlimited stock of it. Which is good news as I thought you had to buy everything individually. :)

Got to Level 20 on Zombies last night...

Two of us had ray guns, and two of us couldn't get **** with weapons.
