Finally a 1000g on a game in what seems like an eternity.

Forza Horizon, I really enjoyed it actually, although I think I'm going to retire it for a while as it has kicked me up the arse to finish Forza 4.

If in the upcoming month they put the rally expansion pack on offer I may go back to it to for that, but at the moment I'm not paying 1600 ms points for 250g and a few new cars.

PS - Furie there may be a little gift coming your way on Forza 4 at some point soon.

Ew, Forza Horizon.

So yeah, I played Spyro the Dragon last night <3. It's got a really awkward camera but what can you expect for a game of that time.

Cool, I need to get back into Forza 4. Not turned the 360 on in over a month (well, the family have as it's the bedroom DVD player, but not for gaming).

I didn't hate Horizon, but I found it tedious. I'm sure I've detailed it a lot in these pages :) I'd be playing it for hours and hours (I never did find that last garage car), and not really enjoying it, but not really hating it either. Just playing it because it was simple and mindless.

I certainly had no compulsion to buy any DLC for it, just more of the same. I like that Forza 4 constantly challenges your skill, so it never really gets boring (though it does need a better "difficulty level setting" that increases competitor skill rather than just making your car harder to drive). Horizons didn't have that, you just pointed the car in the right direction and it won.

Youngster Joey: I watched the review of Paper Mario Sticker Star and can agree with it. Thankfully, I've not played the other games, so it's fresh to me. Other than that, I completely agree with his opinions of Nintendo, Mario, etc.

Right on the laptop now so will post a proper review of the Vita.

My biggest fear of the analogue sticks being too fiddly was soon quashed after an hour or so playing it - they're a massive improvement on the PSP's analogue stick which didn't even tilt.

The whole user interface is brilliant and smooth. I particularly like the 'LiveArea' for each application/game which has its own news feed of what friends have achieved on it recently. The multitasking of being able to press the PS button and do other things on the system such as check trophies surf the web e.t.c then resume the game instantly at the point you left it is fantastic.

Only gripe really is the rear touch pad, I don't see much of a need for it and the times I've come across using it in games, the game developers have added sections which make use of it purely to use that piece of hardware, it doesn't bring anything to the game itself. Maybe in future games that will change.

As for the games, they look stunning - particularly Uncharted but I didn't expect anything else. I also downloaded Frobisher Says which is a blatant rip off of Wario games but I love them and I love this - especially with its tongue in cheek humour.

NFS: Most Wanted as fun as it is... doesn't differentiate from Burnout. I know its the same developer/publisher but there's no unique identity between that and Burnout Paradise to warrant the different titles - billboards, gate smashes, take downs... all very much the same. As I said it's a fun game so I'm not too bothered about this but can't imagine race fans who buy these series of games being overly impressed?

Very impressed with the Vita and it has been shown a lot more love than my PS3 since I had it. Now just need the games catalogue to expand and Sony have a fantastic handheld.

Yeah, rear touch pad is useless. It's annoying too as you don't have any real frame of reference. LBP Vita uses it for pushing forward blocks, but again, it's more "because it's there" than for a good reason.

Frobisher Says is pretty fab, but it's no Warioware - though I prefer Frobisher to Wario.

NFS I played the demo of and thought "same as every other bloody Criterion game" and didn't bother any more.

Gravity Rush is really good, make your way through that once you've done Uncharted. If you liked Infamous, you'll adore it.

I love Everybody's Golf, but I'm waiting for the PS+ deal on it to be announced. I don't know if you ever played the PS3 version, but they're such good fun, even if you don't really like golf.

I picked up Modnations when it was cheap (£3.00 or something) and the complete Ridge Racer collection (£10 I think). Modnations is okay for a little bit, but it's a long way from anything special, but it's fun enough.

Ridge Racer is actually pretty good, but very shallow. It looks gorgeous though, incredibly well presented, but it's all bluff to make you not realise there are just a handful of tracks, about 8 cars and no real career mode or anything. Compared to the 3DS Ridge Racer though, it's like comparing Match Box cars to real life F1

I do love the system though. Playing Treasure Park with people local to me and sending out "Bugs" - it's stupid and mindless, but quite neat. It also works better than the 3DS system as you don't have to pass close to people, it just uses the PSN to work out who is close by.

Skype seems pretty good on it too - ask Jerry. When we have Skype conversations, I use the Vita as it's nice and handy (and because my PC upstairs doesn't have a webcam). So there's a nice little extra there too.

If only it had a decent storage system, what a pain.

Oh, and keep an eye on Littlewoods and Very.co.uk. They quite often do deals where you can get anywhere from £15 or 50% off if you spend £50 or more. They usually do deals for your first order, and then as specials.

I use it to buy PSN cards. Unlike MS Points, they have an actual value, so they have to sell them at that value price. 2x£25 cards is £50 (I think 1600 MS Points with them is the same, which is a serious rip off). If you can get a 50% discount, or even £15 off, then you can be quids in on credit for your PSN account.

Definitely worth it for when there offers on PS Store, or if you want to try out a game you're not sure about. It takes some of the sting out of taking a risk. Also great for cheap PS+ renewals.

I need to look at the manual actually because everytime I try and use the 'near' service its restricted because of parental controls, need to unrestrict it.

Can't really use Littlewoods, next month is my final repayment to them on a huge unpaid account so I don't think they'll be in any rush to accept orders from me again

Modnations Racers for £3.00 was that on PS Store or retail? I've seen it for £15.00 which I thought was cheap but £3.00 is ridiculous.

Ahhhhhh  I pay using a credit card. Bollocks to opening an account with those cowboys ;)

I think Very are the same group.

Yeah, Modnation was a special PSN offer in November I think. Sony did a "these won't be in PS+, but we need to get people buying the Vita" deal set.

I think the rear touch pad is a pretty cool addition but the only time I've used it is for Fifa, in which case it is very useful as you can essentially put the ball in whichever part of the goal you want.

As for NFS, I quite like the game but never played Burnout Paradise. I really enjoy the free roam aspect of the game but I don't think it's as good as the Run or Hot Pursuit though.

Hurry Killer is Dead and Bayonetta 2 and Ni no Kuni and uh... Some other stuff later.

Hurray for Nintendo paving the way in original development once more ;)

To be fair, it's better than having to wait forever till the next Zelda game (which 'apparently' depending on how you take their media will be relatively different from the normal Zelda practices)... But Wind Waker <3

HD remakes are becoming very much the norm in the industry recently, as seen with Metal Gear, Halo and a few others that I cannot think of at the top of my head... Nintendo have just been doing it for longer (and hopefully will actually add in the missing dungeons/redo the silly fetch quest in Wind Waker)...

Although I'm much more excited for new Smash Bros, which will definitely tell if Nintendo's new online system is any good, and the Yoshi version of Kirby's Epic Yarn, which was actually a decent game when you got past the outrageous cuteness...

Would it also surprise you furie that there'll be a new 3D Mario and Mario Kart? ;)

Now for the Majora's Mask remake on 3DS cool)

Shopto have apparently accepted my pre-order for the Wizards edition AND they've taken my cash - so I don't think they can back out of it now. Fingers crossed though as I only placed the order on Monday.

Very, very excited about it to be honest.

It's been over 20 years since I last played that. It's not a great game, but it's a brilliant work of game art :)

Do they work like Sony, where it's a small studio outsourced to "HD up" the work, or is it done internally? If it's the latter, wouldn't you rather they put the time and effort into making the new one ;)

Sony are the biggest culprits. They have a HD remake of pretty much every one of their popular/highly rated IP properties now on the PS3. They tend to do them just before the release of the latest version.

Nintendo have been doing "re-release the original" and "re-release the old game in HD and then say it's a new game, but it's actually just the same again and called new" :p for ages (see MarioKart), but not actual updated remakes.

It's not really an issue, and I don't have a problem with remakes or even re-releases. It's fine as long as a company is also looking forwards and taking the games they make in a new direction.

Every company is responsible for flogging their IP to death. Sony are probably the worst culprits with bollocks IP like Kratos from God of War and Nathan Drake (bloke off the street in jeans). However, they do produce new IP to flog to death which are actually part of a new franchise that is something different and unique (Fat Princess, Sack Boy, Patapon, etc. ). You'll not be able to move for years without something about The Last of Us, or Sony crowing on about how they secured Ni No Kuni exclusively (essentially, the biggest thing to come out of Japan in a decade). It comes with the territory.

Both Sony and MS though actively encourage new studios though to work with them and on both platforms you end up with a superb range of brand new games that set the world alight (and every so often, they do it in house too). The best games (IMO) in the last 10 years have come from indie developers on the 360 or PS3. These are the games and developers that will inspire the next generation and move the games industry on and forwards. We'll always look back with a nostalgic eye, and that's fine, but the industry has to move onwards or stagnate. Thankfully, MS and Sony are helping that movement and we'll all reap the benefits.

If Bob3 had posted just this:

I'd have been all over it like a rash. Kirby's Epic Yarn is THE saving grace in Nintendo's release schedule for the Wii. It's just a standard platform game, but... It's all about the style and design. The game is gorgeous to look at and to play. The mechanics are simply fantastic - it's just a great, great game.

If it didn't involve having to buy a Wii U, I'd probably die from anticipation about a Yoshi version :)

I assume it will be exactly the same crap as every version? Same tracks on Mario Kart? Same Hill, Desert, Forest, Castle routine on Mario?

That's why the new Pokemon announcement excites me. Yeah, it's just Pokemon and it'll be much the same as before. However, they've made an effort rather than just doing the same thing again and again and again. It's finally been brought up to date and looks fresh. It's kind of "I respect they're making an effort" rather than "I have no respect for just rehashing the same code and levels forever".

I didn't like Super Mario Galaxy, but respected the fact it did something so differently and shook up the franchise again. So there's some hope, but I just think it will turn out to be exactly the same stuff all over again.

If you love it, fine, but I'd rather one of the world's largest software producers actually made a move to be original and to dare to try and set the world alight again. It has to be diminishing returns, as Nintendo are seeing, as are all the "grey" repeat every year shooters (though I doubt many people would complain about the sales, even diminished  ).

On my phone. CBA to quote you about Llamatron but I find it to be a fun game out of it's stupid exactution. Kinda like all of Jeff Minter's games. Intense flashing lights and truely bizarre enemies also his fetish with hooved animals. They're so retarded it's great.

Majora's Mask is the only zelda I'm actually interested it. It's darker apocalyptic tone is just... cooler.

It is fun, and I played it for many hours, but it's not "sit addicted to it for days on end" good.

Yeah, same. I used to play it until I ran out of lives once and not even continue

Edit:

Reason 1 for buying a Wii U. Bayonetta 2

Shin-Megami-Tensei-X-Fire-Emblem.jpg

Reason 2 for buying a Wii U!

Also Xenoblade chronicles (possibly) 2 is reason 3. There we go, enough reasons to finally warrant a Wii U. Ports don't count.

Smash Bros will be at E3, but Not playable. Screenshots mostly and if we're lucky a pre-rendered trailer. Mario Kart won't sell me unitl they make battle have a finite amount of balloons. Yoshi looks fantastic as I liked epic yarn, but HATED the fact kirby was just thrown in. I feel the style fits Yoshi much better. Wonderful 101 looks great. Don't give a **** about Wii fit U. Fire emblem crossover should be interesting. Monoliths game has caught my attention. I don't care for LoZ games so I won't comment on them.

Did I miss anything?

Also does anyone else have a Wii U? Add me on Miiverse Youngster_Joey

Leave your CF name as a message so I know you're from CF
