Smoothest Vekoma ever

T0M

Hyper Poster
The smoothest Vekoma I have been on is Millennium Roller Coaster at Fantasy Island, even now it is in its thirteenth season. I'd be interested to know if anyone that has been on Millennium thinks that another Vekoma is smoother.

I've heard that Ben 10 is extremely smooth and this may be down to the new train designs or improved track fabrication - but why was Millennium such a freak of its era?

I haven't been on many white knuckle Vekoma's (there family coasters are actually as smooth as glass)but out of the one's ive been on i would say Infusion at PBB, it is still a bit of a head banger at times but it never resorts to being painful.

Do you know, I think I'd agree with you there. It may be due, in part, to the fact that the thing is NEVER BLOODY OPEN, therefore it hasn't actually had as much wear and tear as a Vekoma running every day for thirteen seaasons, but nevertheless it's still and enjoyable little coaster.

Fly the Great NorEaster at Morey's is my smothest.. mostly because of the restraints.

Haha, it's nowhere near as bad as Jubilee Odyssey, it is open fairly regularly, but yes I guess you have a point about the number of circuits it's done - but that isn't why it's so smooth.

Apart from the enclosed Vekoma coasters which are all insanely smooth (sans XWTF...) then the Black Hole Express at Kumdori Land in South Korea is insanely smooth as is French Revolution at Lotte World also in South Korea. Same thing goes for the smoothest Arrow, Fantasia Special at Tongdo Fantasia (this one is also located in South Korea) the one of a kind Arrow triple-corkscrew is insanely smooth.

Then you all wonder, is every coaster smooth in South Korea, well, NO!!
They also have Space 2000 at Gyeongju World which is the worst piece of **** ever created along with other POS...

Canyon Blaster at Adventuredome was surprisingly smooth when I rode it. After riding Desperado, I only cringed at how painful CB was gonna be....but, it was smooth as silk with little to no head banging (surprisingly). Ninja at SFoG was also quite smooth when I rode it as well....

Thing is, its not quite the same era as the likes of Corkscrew, is it? Its them old coasters (plus Boomerangs, Whirlwind etc) that show the rough side to Vekoma.

Rock 'n' Rollercoaster is quite smooth, as is Kumali.

Big Loop at Heide Park is an old style Vekoma that's fairly smooth. Other than that all of the older ones I've ridden have been rough.. I've only ridden one with the new type of track, Booster Bike, and it was really smooth actually :)

The track design is the same so I would loosely bracket it as the same generation. Never been on RnR, but I'm not sure I'd describe Kumali as smooth but needless to say they have improved.

But they still use that track design nowadays, have a look at their website. They've just branched out over the last few years offering different products, but usual Boomerangs and SLC's will still be made with the same track design.

Stunt Fall - Quite smooth and an awesome ride.

Mammut (Gardaland) is also smooth but the seat is quite hard and uncomfortable.

The point is it's smoother than things of comparable design, regardless of what you or I would loosely class as coaster generations.

Its probably down to it having large, drawn out elements, no sharp transitions and nothing too extreme. Its all quite gentle and graceful really.

I suppose it is really but the sidewinder seems super smooth which does seem especially unusually. I think the only bit of roughness it really has is in the helix between the sidwinder and second loop.

Most Vekomas with the new track system are quite smooth. I guess that trackwork has also improved with CAD software.

Muntanya Russa at Tibidabo is the smoothest Vekoma I have ridden. Not just my opinion: when ACE went to the park they actually agreed that this would be the smoothest coaster Vekoma ever and certainly one of the most interesting layout-wise.

I'd forgotten about Muntanya Russa, but agree with you 100% on that one.

Others "big" coasters I'd say are really smooth would be:

Vortex, an SLC at Siam Park City
Black Hole Express at Kumori Land
Space Mountain at Hong Kong Disney
Gravity Max at Discovery World
