What's new

SF Discovery Kingdom | The Joker | Roar RMC Conversion

Yeah, that 'Ha Ha' theming is fab, really like it to create an enveloped cohesive theme and 'plant' the ride into the area, making it have a personality in a way? Very clever, shame the station is still ****.

Clever?

Mark, it's a giant HA HA HA on the side of the ride, let us not pretend thought has gone in to that.

Not the lettering itself, more the format of adding theming to the structure of the ride to create a 'self contained experience', sort of putting branding and advertising for the product all around the edges of the ride. I know the structure itself will create a sort of edge and boundary to the ride itself, but this simple addition of lettering has created a boundary for the attraction - whether that's intentional or not, or they literally just whacked up some letters for a laugh (pardon the pun), it's kinda cool what it does.

Ferrari at PA is literally doing the exact same thing, but that's disgusting though, right?

Just making sure.

But it isn't exactly the same thing, PortAventura's is a logo branding the Ferrari company, as a giant '**** you, look what we can do'. Joker's is a continuation of the story of one attribute to the ride to further it's narrative, which is what I like about it.

So yeah. I don't see them as the same thing - apart from the physical construction of additional theming on a structure, but they both appear to me in different ways.

So, there you go, have it.

Yeah, it's not the same thing, but, c'mon Mark, it's still just giant HA HA HA signs on the side of a Joker ride - that's not a thought out narrative that's 'what does a clown say? Stick it up there'

Lets not wet ourselves over the theme xD

Media day was held on the 25th.

Does seem a bit more brutal than other RMCs

Thank you for the videos :)

I've been on it three times today so far. Wow, what a great ride! The pacing, inversions and airtime are all on point. Highlights for me are the stall (the best of the ones I've experienced) and the very snappy pull out after the outward banked hill. Once again RMC delivers.

One more video filmed by bfree riding with the man himself. Hopefully he'll post about the event.
