Just saw this on that new BPB fansite:

Hey guys some BREAKING NEWS direct from pleasure beach the rollercoaster has reopend this weekend and has had its adips renewed for another year!!!

Thats good news! :D

Don't mean to be an arse or put a damper on things, but did you look at the date that was posted?

If not, it was posted on the 4th July (when CF were there for the Live) and hasn't been open since. (As far as I'm aware)

I just checked RCDB and its listed as 'operating'. Couldn't find anything on the 'other' fan site though.

My Pleasure Beach group on Facebook (which is the biggest I might add) is flooded with people complaining about the Rollercoaster not being open.

It is unlikely it will be open again this year as it was only open as an alternative to the Nash being closed at the start of the year and of course the Big Dipper recently but as now are both open there is no need to use the Rollercoaster.

I hope it opens properly next year if not it looks like it will be SBNO until they take it down.

Congratulations on your massive e-peen.

They either need to stop running this ride for good, or keep it open permenantly.. Either way I wouldn't really mind. Yes it's a classic ride, but from a H&S view its a nightmare, no airgates in the station etc. They could tear it down and put in a Mega-lite and i'd be happy. :)

My apologies for getting some peoples hopes up!

I did see the date, but I haven't been checking things much lately, so it was good enough for me! I was hoping to ride with the 'new' trains for the first time too :(

Rollercoaster was open during the weekend thats just gone.

And I would expect it to make a return for the rest of the season now that the Big Dipper is out of action.

I also rode it for the first time last weekend.

Though when discussing that PB needs a new ride we pretty much agreed out of all the ride RC is the one that should go.

Would it free up THAT much space though? Apart from the turnaround near revolution, most of it runs right against the perimeter fence, doesn't it?

Indeed it does, good sir. The space issue raises a good point actually, in that, it utilises it's space very well.

Removing Rollercoaster wouldnt be worthwhile tbh.

Not alot can replace it.

Plus I wouldnt bet on its removal, as its got its ADIPS certificate to June 2010 and its likely winter work is going to take place on it this year so it can run a full season next year.

I very much doubt it'll be SBNO in 2010.

The whole Big Dipper thing, has given Rollercoaster a life line I think. Its not been open the last few visits I've made, and I love it.

If they tear Rollercoaster down, i doubt, given BPB financial state, that a new coaster would quench this thirst people seem to have. Apparently there are plans, but they have to sit the 'credit crunch' out first. They are struggling to get a loan for a decent coaster to replace anything with. So it would be a range of small rides, which would make people even more miserable.

Hence the £5 wristband thing, plus 2010 is going to see a 'highly restricted operating schedule' according to the BPB forums. They are trying, but I dunno if its too late for the whole park.

Its not too late for the park at all.

The £5 charge hasnt been as bad as people have made out. Numbers have dropped, but its people who werent contributing to the park, there is no point having people walking around the park spending no money, when people are still willing to pay £5 to get in and in some cases buy tickets for rides and buy drinks at the fountain area.

Numbers will have dropped because its no longer free to get in, but I bet profit hasnt dropped.

Yes, if SI2 (as it's SBNO) is removed as well.
