PortAventura | Uncharted | Intamin Multi-Dimension Coaster | 2023

^ Exactly. An Intamin Family Launch Coaster would be a perfect fit! But I would not expect anything as well themed as the NL2 creation actually showing up at the park.
 
Hello! I am reddit user @Elminerofeliz, the one that took the pictures of the beginning of the structure. Managed to talk to a couple of employees who said it was going to be an indoor family coaster, which I think is most likely an Intamin Family Launch Coaster. They also very much specified it was to be opened for the next season, so 2023.
 
What will happen to the building on the inside, is still unknown. But the building is for 75% done now, on the outside.

^ Indeed. However I could believe the major Triotech attraction coming to Europe next year is for Portaventura. Triotech have on their product list “Dark Coaster” - that funky interactive dark ride/coaster hybrid Wonder Mountain's Guardian at Canada Wonderland.

Was there not also talk this attraction would be something that exists only once elsewhere outside of Europe? Would fit the bill.

Apparently the building structure is finished/full sized now.
 
So technically, if this is a Triotech coaster like Wonder Mountain’s Guardian, it would fit the brief of both coaster and dark ride.

I must say, I think that would be a very nice addition! From what I can tell, PortAventura lacks indoor attractions more than it lacks coasters, and this would both give them a new indoor attraction and function as a coaster, so it’s a win-win, really!
 
Sorry to be nitpicky but Triotech didn't make the coaster for WMG, they just provided the dark ride aspect. The actual coaster itself was made by ART Engineering.

Ah right; that would make sense, actually!

But if Triotech is making the main bulk of the dark ride part, surely it would still be counted as a project by Triotech?

Yes, it most likely would. It's Triotech providing the product but they subcontracted the coaster to ART afaik.
 
Wonder Mountain’s Guardian is a ride that I could best describe as extremely wasted potential undercooked. The coaster bit is short and alright, followed up by an insane 30 ft drop track that has been unrivalled in height, or at least until Primordial opens. Triotech however failed to deliver on their end, with incredibly subpar and dysfunctional 3D screen and shooting systems. It was bad enough that they converted it to 2D a couple years ago, and it still regularly breaks down. Triotech has been improving their technology since the last decade, but they’d need to pull up their game several notches if they want a WMG-esque ride to succeed in Europe.
 
Yeah, lol, WMG is turd. Hope to god they don't build something like that. :D
 
The park only built Street Mission in 2019, so even if it did share a ride system with WMG, I wouldn’t think it would be interactive like WMG is.

I must admit, when I think Triotech, I think of those £1 per ride roller coaster simulators in arcades rather than big budget dark rides, as they’re also manufactured by a Triotech… is it the same Triotech who builds these dark rides?

And as it turns out, they are manufactured by the same Triotech that builds dark rides! Small world… I used to have a lot of fun on one of those machines in the arcade at Center Parcs when I was young!

There are a couple of coasters with drop track in Europe. It's not going to be that.

When the walls go up you can kiss goodbye to seeing more visible construction.

However, there are no coasters in Europe with the WMG ride system… and there’s one outside of Europe, in Canada. Which fits the criteria that PA gave perfectly.
 
Triotech is itching to go… September 13 (next Tuesday) at 12:05pm, British time, IAAPA Expo in London.
