What's new

Port Aventura |"Shambhala"| B&M Hyper

You should murder that one family that lives near that one park that is annoying as **** though, might solve something.

Without our ancestors doing that, well we wouldn't have cheap casinos, scholarships for their great great great great grandchildren, shady reservations, and of course Cedar Point.

If the Brits weren't so dumb we wouldn't have Boulder Dash either so....you're welcome.

**** it, I'll call out the shocking generalisation here

I love how this topic is once again another prime example of European enthusiasts reacting to European coaster construction:

Coaster is announced: "Rubbish!"
Coaster goes vertical: "Crap!"
Coaster is topped out: "BLOODY HELL IT'S SO SEXY I'M BLOWING MY LOAD!"
Coaster is completed: "I can't wait to go to the park and ride it this summer!"
Coaster is ridden: "Complete ****!"

Everybody bitched about not only how the ride was probably going to suck, but how nobody wanted to see Khan trumped. Now everybody's creaming themselves over it.

Let alone questioning that maybe, just maybe, the different responses came from different people, so they're not swaying back and forth with their opinion, but I've not even seen that in here.

Put your money where you mouth is, or leave. Find me where in here, anywhere, somebody has slated the ride, then jizzed over it, etc...?

I can't agree more to be totally honest (shocking, I know).

I've not once stated this is going to be ****, along with a lot of people here, yes people have said, "It doesn't do much". That's about it.

Not being funny, but it's excessively hypocritical as actually, ALL enthusiasts do that with a lot of coasters out there, INCLUDING "You North Americans", even though I hate generalising.

Please leave us Canadians out of the "American" category  Hey, I thought it looked great from the beginning its a B&M Hyper whats not to like? Ok maybe I didn't like its location over Khan but I can deal with that.

I find most of the time I don't like new rides right away but as I see them develop more they tend to grow on me. Theres a lot of factors involved and Im a perfectionist what can I say ?

Thought I'd post this, look at the size and scope of that! <3

Looking sexy! Can't wait to go back and ride this beast, gotta do it some time soon! That is all! :p

That's by far the best image I've see. It looks like the road you come along on from the Airport to Salou. It's great to see it that way, it really shows you the length of it too!

^I agree with the comments about that recent picture. I was hoping one from that angle would pop up sooner or later. From there, I can see how it doesnt detract from Khan at all I think. It makes them both stand stronger together.

This afternoon the last lift hill support has been completed and the chain trough has been placed. According to people from PA-C, the same crane that built Hurakan Condor in 2004 has been spoted on site and will presumably be used to top the coaster off tomorrow.

Besides, the first camelback has started to go up too.

Sorry for the quality but this picture has been taken at sunset with a lot of zoom:

^It's in Europe, so it gets more attention by a larger portion of our members. Remember, many of us Europeans are still in a situation where going across the pond to ride other B&M Hypers is very unlikely to happen (one, getting there, two, convincing your parents to go to a park, etc). So this is being seen as a far more "plausible" coaster to ride for most of our UK members.

Europe fanboyism, if you want to put it like that.

^^Plus it'll be the tallest B&M hypercoaster in existence (76m). Yes it's not a big difference, but it'll still be the tallest so that adds to the excitement! And of course, it's being built at one of the best parks in Europe (and the world)!

^^^I've been on other B&M Hypers and I still think this looks great... Don't give me the "aww, poor Europeans with nothing", that's quite... offensive...

You're forgetting UC, some of us LIKE these.

I know, like something that you don't, shocking.

So, to some of us, this is exciting. Sorry, should we all be miserable and down on everything <//3

Just to add my opinion, for what it's worth....

I personally feel, geographical location has everything to do with it. I don't get giddy about the new ride in Dollywood, because, I don't even know in what state Dollywood is. I have no plans of going, and financially speaking, won't be going anytime soon, so while I may glance, and go, woo, looks good, that's all I will do, because I'm not going to be getting excited about something I'm highly unlikely to go ride. It's like booking a holiday to France and then raving over a holiday to Mexico your not going on.....

Simply put, I will be going to Thorpe Park, so I'm excited that a lovely new B&M is coming to a park I'll be visiting multiple times. A lovely new B&M hyper is coming to my favourite park of all time. I'm less excited for riding it, but have a vested interest in seeing how my favourite park of all time looks with it. A B&M winged coaster is coming to a park I won't go to, and have no interest in... ok.

As for elements, I've never ridden any of them before, nor paid enough interest in that many coasters I'm never going to ride, so, it's all exciting, for me, on that front too!

UC, hyper coasters are quite rare in Europe unlike the US (you know what they say in America: "Go big or go home"). That's why the construction of a true hypercoaster is something to look forward since the last one was built in 2002.

Besides, this coaster will have new features such the staggered-seating trains, a water splash (and the fact that it is located mid-ride is also brand new to hypercoasters) and, in my opinion, an original layout (in B&M terms of course).

I'm not sure how many Spanish enthusiasts are on this site, but won't this be the only major, truly airtime based coaster in Spain? Just off the top of my head, none the other coasters in Parque Warner, Parque de Attractions, Terra Mitica and Port Aventura have airtime filled layouts, except maybe Stampida but from what I can gather that's not such a pleasent experience nowadays.
I'm sure i'll have missed something here but I can't think of it just now. Also i'm not slagging off Spanish parks, IMO the English parks are sorely lacking the same thing.

I'm just going to come out and answer it far simpler than most have tried to do.

UC they've said it looks fantastic, or at least I have, because it looks fantastic. Aesthetically. I've never ridden the ride type, but it's just brilliant to look at. Plus when you take into account it's towering over a ride that for most of us is almost the go-to big ride on the continent, it explains the excitement.

UC, I personally am excited for it, solely because it's Europe's tallest coaster at a park I'm very fond of and have been to more times then some local parks. Call me a PA Fanboy if you wish, this is my reasoning.

Also, that Helix is not a "A reverse of Nitro Helix" at all, a reverse of Nitro's helix would be Goliath at SFoG if anything...

I thought that too but I daren't step in the path of UC, i'd have been struck down like the rest of the noobs!
