What's new

Phantasialand | Taron | Intamin launched

Chris Brown said:
I can see something similar to Zierer ESC seats or Blue fire style. Like a slightly raised seating position and in turn a much more open train design. All the Intamin's I have ridden have all felt very cramped once you are in the train and I think Phantasialand would be looking to avoid that feeling with this new 'Phantasia train'

Im going to update this and go with Skyrush style floorless seats but obviously only two across.

Seeing as they're showing us the bottom last and the lap bars attach near the top of the seats this must surely be floorless

Intriguing theory about them being floorless but I can't see that benefitting the ride in any way.

Totes just hiding something that is sitting on the front, those claws on the bottom have got to belong to something.

These restraints are totally the same as those found on the newer Intamin loopers. They feel more open so as long as it doesn't have square wheels it'll be fab.

I disagree John, it could just be the light but i think the headrests look much squarer than the normal loopers, these seats also dont have the moulded headrest thing like other seem to have. I think these seats resemble skyrush seats more than the new multiloopers.

In my opinion the second picture better represents what we can see so far.

Ignore my 4 row comment, upon further zooming I can see at least 1 more row, so no idea how many now.

There is definitely flooring on rows 2, 3 and 4 though, but can't see row 1's floor yet.

Zooming in on row 3's seat, the restraint protrudes quite a lot, there's a lot of Skyrush similarities there, but I think this is a new design, a hybrid of the two below.

Look at the seats, there is a silver metal crossmember that braces behind each respective seat, similar to those found on Intamin T-Bar trains (Hypers, Accelerators, etc.):

So... are the lap bars going to be T-Bars?

If you zoom in on the seat in the background which you can get a look at it looks really similar to Skyrush's seats to me.

Yay!

Upping the brightness also helps better show the width of that pipework, which appears to be more on par with the over-the-shoulder lapbars. If these indeed are actual photos of the Taron train, interesting too that it appears Intamin found how to minimize the size of the gearbox that sits behind the headrest.

Please excuse the translation...

"If Taron rushes powerfully through the rocky landscape Klug home, you will be the great adventure, which previously took place long, can hardly imagine. Because between the first desires and thoughts and the actual origin of the finished coating was a path full of challenges and surprises, which extended over a full 2 years.
A prerequisite for a successful project was doing a combination of experience, expertise, openness and attentive teamwork. Because so the train could combine comfort, style, thematic embedding and of course the very big driving fun into one unit, had to optimally engage in the development of all these factors.

For Taron we had found an innovative partner who exactly could bring these qualities to the project: Intamin. With its specially developed LSM drive that Liechtenstein is the perfect producers were for our multi-launch coaster and were also in the redevelopment of the train an ideal sparring partner. The train, we imagined, there was not yet namely. And so we needed a strong counterpart who supported us with technical knowledge and great openness the adventures of customized train. This willingness to fully engage in the challenges of our vision, then was also a decisive prerequisite in order to select Intamin as our partner for Taron can.
For us was always a guest in the foreground - as could be created a comfortable possible driving experience Pure from the first second of driving pleasure brings. For Intamin, the main task was rather in the technical realization of this driving experience - as could the wishes of the Phantasialand are optimally implemented. Two not always consensual perspectives that could only lead to success go hand in hand. And that's what we did: Together we embarked on the exciting journey to completely redevelop the perfect train for Taron!

WE WANTED A TRAIN WITH ALL THE FEATURES THAT ARE IMPORTANT FOR THE EXPERIENCE TARON. AN ALTERNATIVE WAS NOT AN OPTION

SEBASTIAN JONAS, PROJECT DEVELOPERS AND QUALITY MANAGERS OF PHANTASIALAND
While our aim was a ride so free and carefree as possible. "We wanted a train with all the features that are important for the experience Taron. An alternative was not an option, "says Sebastian Jonas, project developers and quality managers of Phantasialand. "The train had to fit perfectly to the web." For while the track layout with its figures and changes of direction forms the basis for the driving pleasure together with the quality of rail, the train is effectively the bridge to passenger. Its design emphasizes the dramatic scale in the track driving experience - and this may increase at best still noticeable. That is what we wanted to achieve with our train at Taron. Through a very open design a very special free, downright liberated driving feeling to be created in him - the little extra kick on the rapid ride through Klug home!

An enormously important factor was for the right seat height. Only an elevated seating position, in which the feet are not touching the ground, could just allow the feeling of the detached driving, which was important to us.

Just the bow: here were by no means the shoulder strap commonly used, constricting used. For maximum safety and maximum comfort of the exciting adrenaline rush of driving should enhance the experience on Taron yet without rigid fixation.
This free seating experience should be also supported as usual by a more widely spaced positioning of seats. Because the special freedom of movement should be pleasant to feel for the passenger on all sides.
In order for the driving experience for our guests could be as comfortable as possible before and after the journey, as well as a continuous bottom in the car was our explicit request. Because only a quick, effortless ride guest change and an equally smooth clearance time could guarantee the best possible capacity utilization in our sense.
"Because it could happen before, that something downright flunked in the first joint assessment is," Sebastian Jonas describes this fine tuning.

Even the more "perception" of the train - the actual touch to the look - should be an enjoyable experience as possible for the guest. It could, therefore, only materials are used, which could consist in everyday use. Such as stainless steel for the handles: even with persistent usage still beautiful to look at and in his hand is always a good feeling.

Briefly: seat position, seat shape, headrest, cushion, straps, handles, design, paint, colors, materials - everything we defined and threw it to a certain extent in the ring of the development process. As a basis for an eager sparring with the great project Tarons train. Because even in the technical development we accompanied the engineers of Intamin until the last lap - times as enthusiastic ideas, sometimes as thoroughly "passenger". In numerous seating samples we tested the comfort of the seat, the most comfortable position of the handles, the best seat height and appraised the car in every detail. Piece by piece, the train has been prepared by the technicians and designers from Intamin and checked by us. Each element had to correspond to what we wanted to achieve for our guests. Even the last centimeter, we thrashed out passionately with Intamin and even turned to the smallest "cog" until the result for all parties agreed. "Because it could happen before, that something downright flunked in the first joint assessment is," Sebastian Jonas describes this fine tuning. "The design of the front about Cars had to be after the first production completely revised again. We all saw directly that the proportions not simply agreed with the rest of the train. "

WEIGHT SAVINGS
The weight of the landing gear has been reduced by almost a tonne compared to a conventional standard move.
In addition, the technical factors in the development process called the manufacturer out repeatedly. How about the issue of the placement of train technology, so the magnets for drive and braking and the establishment of the friction wheels. Thus, the individual components are not disabled, the compact accommodation in the very limited space underneath the train was a tricky business. Likewise, the weight of the train: In order to meet the promised performance figures for the intensive catapult launch, the total weight had to be reduced significantly. The solution lay new materials, such as aluminum for the newly developed landing gear deployed. This allowed the weight to be reduced by almost a tonne compared to a conventional standard move - a great feat of engineering

any hurdle in the manufacturing process took Intamin with much refinement before and developed innovative solutions, even at his own request. That Tarons train scored first a novel triple strap securing, for example, was a very personal contribution of the manufacturer.

The development of Tarons train was an extremely intensive process for all parties involved, a common adventure full of effort and passion with an all-round successful outcome. For the result to be proud of: All our ideas of design, comfort and the latest technology merge into a train, as we had imagined it to us - and which would otherwise not have arisen. "We have given our needs the impetus to make this something completely new on the legs", says Sebastian Jonas about the enriching cooperation. "One can say that there had not been this train without us."
A customized train whose first use we can hardly wait. Full of anticipation, we are eagerly awaiting the moment when we see that all our wishes for the experience of our guests rise and how it feels, the ride on the "Phantasialand-train"!"

I don't like it. I'm not impressed with the head at all. Looking forward to seeing the restraints in more detail though, as I won't be looking at the head while riding.

Lol, at the first glance this looks more like a worm than whichever mythical creature it is supposed to be.

Those trains are quite something, will be interesting now to see how it tests and interacts with the rock

It sounds like it'll ride similar to the middle seats on Skyrush - aka feet off the ground but still a floor, and similar restraints.

If so fab.

But ugly though but it's not a great pic.

This looks a bit Journey to the Centre of the Earth to me? In that the theme is bashing through rocks as some kind of expedition? Either way, cool as **** and I want it, in and around, thanks.

Expedition Everest?

Like, seriously :)

Taron is the German word for Everest (apparently). Obviously I did a bit of research into this...

The Taron people come from Tibet/Burma. So I researched a little more and they have lots of different beliefs. Obviously there's the Yeti, but they also believe in the nagar, a kind of dragon which may vaguely fit this train design (it's like a snake (a wyrm) rather than a traditional belegged dragon).

So I reckon it will be some kind of journey through the mountains in Tibet and around the Himalayas.

I've not read all 33+ pages yet, so my apologies if this has already been brought up.

OMG that would be fab. The dragon thing fits too because of their mascots. So yes, makes sense.

Not a huge fan of the front piece. I get what they've tried to go for, but I'm just not a big fan of it.. Maybe seeing a clearer picture / it in person will change my mind though.

Trains themselves sound good though!
