A mass of metal has started to go up creating a new part of the structure, I think this area is roughly where the outdoor turnaround an Aztec-temple like building is going.

Some of the waterfalls on the rockwork are also being installed apparently. One of them will be on that vertical slice to the right of the pic...

Where the next batch of pics is in relation to everything or what will be going on here is still a mystery to me...

The flattened land you can see where they are starting to lay concrete is apparently where the camelback will be.

I think that's all for now.

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

I need to go back to this park, purely so I can try and workout the layout to this thing in person.

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

I havent been Phantasialand since Talocan was under construction... I must definitely get over there and ride this when it opens, it looks incredible!

I really liked the log flumes when i was there, hopefully this will be just as good, its really hard to tell whats happening as far as layout from the updates!

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

Haha, you leave it a couple of days and all of a sudden lots of stuff starts happening on site...

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

UK parks take note...thats how you build a ride!!!!

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

So, they seem to be constructing this contraption at a speedy pace now. This view gives a good idea of how amazing this is going to look when finished...

That bell tower is coming along nicely now...

They seem to like zooming into the lower floor of the bridge. I get the feeling there may be part of the ride running through there...

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

I really hope this ride opens in time for my visit in July. I think it's going to rival Ripsaw Falls for best log flume.

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

They got all this and the Uk's log flumes are The flume which has mostly rotted and rundown. Loggers Leap with half a tunnel gone due to rotting and Dragon Falls which a hell of a lot of theming has been removed since it opened and never replaced. Why can't we get this?! </3

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

Dunno why, but I love the look of this:

That head chopper is going to be mad, especially at speed!

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

I have no words, it looks incredible... I cannot believe how extravagant it is.

How does this park have this kind of money to throw at landscape design and structural theming of this caliber? The park, with its slender walkways and impractical operational choices, can't physically cope with ridiculous crowds? Surely?! Granted its open all year, but...? What's their entry price compared to Europa? Do we know the budget of this project? And do we know what companies are involved?

I dont understand how you make sense of the photos, Peep... Jesus.

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

^I think it might have something to do with the fact that they can't often get permission to build something, therefore they go years and years without any massive investment, so they can save up more money to do an amazing job on the things they DO get permission for?

I know that the hotels are pretty expensive, and are almost always booked up, so they're clearly doing something right!

Errm Phantasialand has done SO many investments in the last years, they have like turned the entire park inside out - if you have been to the park before 2001 you know what I mean.

After Black Mamba which was the last obvious investment for roller coaster enthusiasts they have added Talocan with stunning theming, built a new hotel which is a stunner itself, knocked down and rebuilt almost the entire Berlin area including a dark ride, built this massive square with a new dark ride, smoothed their landscape and making it all wheelchair accessible, refurbished the Wuze Town area by adding loads of detailed theming and new little attractions, they have knocked down almost the entire mountainscape on Colorado Adventure and re-themed areas around it. All of this in a span of say 4 - 5 years. To me Phantasialand is one of the most frequent investing park out there in the world.

From 2001 till now the park has made a 360 degree transformation and thats a pretty good achievement in 12 years time.

How they can afford it? I don't know lol

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

Yeah, I didn't say they haven't invested, I said no massive investment (as in millions and millions on one attraction) like other parks do. What year was their last new coaster? A long time ago considering how often other 'big' parks get them, they focus their money elsewhere, ie, in prettifying their park ;)

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

It was Black Mamba in 2006 at 22 million including theming but roller coasters aren't the only attractions on this planet - the transformation of Berlin cost 18 million. Talocan was 7,5 million. The changes at Wuze Town and Colorado Adventure will have cost another 2-3 million. Hotel Matamba 16 million.
The park expansion will cost about 100 million. I estimate Chiapas to be at around 15 million.

Just because Phantasialand does not build big single attractions each year it does not mean that the park does not invest big sums on a regular basis - they simply invest in more than just ride attractions.

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

But you see what I'm saying, these other attractions/changes cost significantly less than an investment in a coaster would, so we see Phantasialand investing 'little and often' as opposed to taking the regular park approach of one massive investment every few years. I'm not saying they're not costly investments, but it's not as if they're investing in a shiny new B&M every year, they never their money into every aspect of the resort instead, resulting in cheaper investments but also meaning they can afford more of them.

And as a result of having more than just one thing you can call new for the year, you have a handful, so customers will just keep coming back and spending their money :)

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

lol no i can't get your point as their investments are as expensive as a shiny new B&M or even more expensive
.
Black Mamba, the roller coaster itself, was 11 million which is 7 million less than the redevelopment of Berlin - so I really can't see your point. I really can't agree with calling 15+ million "small investments" as that's more than the average roller coaster would cost.

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

I'm angry that my questions have been lost under this really menial argument.

I don't know how Phantasialand gets enough people visiting to make any money.

Re: Phantasialand | Chiapas?| "Water Ride"

I still want to see what the actual "track" will be without all the themeing. Still don't get a great sense of what the flume itself will do.
