Ocean Park, Hong Kong |"Hair Raiser"| B&M Floorless

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

It was still in testing when Richard and I went last week  .
OP are building a giant board/sculpture of the coaster's name which still had loads of scaffolding round it close to the track. It looks great though up on the side of the mountain. I'll get some photos up when I can, maybe tonight.

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

This looks like a great coaster, and perfect for the likes of ocean park.

To me it looks pretty exciting, considering it's fairly compact, and doesn't help feeling like it's just a couple of inversions sprung together and it's a B&M!

Sadly though, I can see several Golden Horse rip-offs of this ride...

That looks beautiful! I'd <3 to ride a B&M with that scenery in the background! :)

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

I quite like the look of this. I think it looks like quite a different style of layout to what we normally see. I like the little twists and bunny hills, it looks like it could be fun.

:D

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

^ This.

The ride looks awesome, but the brake run is kinda long and annoying. But that scenery is to die for.

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

The setting is obviously gorgeous, but, jeez, that looks so slow and dull. It might as well stop in the inversions and get it over and done with.

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

^However...you will get loads of "time spent up-side down"

Great coaster though, nice to see some B&M goodness instead of Golden Horse rip-offs! I can see this ride being cloned several times...

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

That actually looks pretty fast compared to the other newer B&M's

Great. If I wanted time spent upside down, I'd do a handstand.

Also, instead of a Golden Horse? You realise the country this is in doesn't have a single Golden Horse in it? I think you're thinking of CHINA. Different place.

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

Is it just me or is the lift hill really quick for a B&M...?

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

It looks great to me.
Its a very good addition for the park and will have a good amount of intensity - but not as crazy as the others (like dominator and superman)

Jake, the lift hill does look quicker than usual. Perhaps because its such a small lift and therefore shorter chain, they were able to make it go faster?
And Ben, isnt Hong Kong in China?
I realise it is its own province or whatever, but its not actually a country.
Technically, the country its located in is China, and even if it wasnt, its extremely close to China.
does Hong Kong count as a country? :S

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

Its classified as a SAR or Special Administrative Region, kind of like a city state, its not the same as being its own country but it defiantly has some different independence over a province. Runs its own political system, has its own constitution and its own currency. So no technically its not its own country but its close enough.

As for the coaster....looks amazing. The layout how ever short or slow as people have been complaining about, I think works very well for how much they packed into the area. Hey and the slow inversions get's the blood flowing to your head which I think is cool on some coasters. And I'm in love with the colours <333

Put it this way, you wouldn't say there was loads of B&Ms in Scotland.

Haha, this!

Haha! Ok, I get what you mean now :)

Re: Hair Raiser: New B&M Floorless - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

In the spirit of analness: China resumed sovereignty over Hong Kong in 1997 and remains a Special Administrative Region of China. They are however, completely different in terms of culture, language, the side of the road on which they drive...

Nice to see this up and running - shame it wasn't when we were there in November. Even if it is slow, it's still in a fantastic location, which I'm in no doubt will add to the ride experience.

Here are photos of the ride in its fab location, while the sign was still being constructed. Apologies for the appalling photos (there was torrential rain that day so they are dark and/or taken through wet cable car windows), but they give you an idea...

The last photo was sneakily taken through a hedge and shows work progressing on another new coaster for next year: Arctic Blast.
