"Now Showing"

Unless a movie brags about filming in 3D, Avatar, and the new Transformers, I won't see a movie in 3D if I can avoid it. It is typically very choppy and poorly done in post production and rushed and turns out like garbage, example A being Clash of the Titans. I will see animated movies in 3D though, it adds the extra layer of depth, and while even in 2D it has gotten much better, it just adds something

Megamind- 2.5/5

I was disappointed, I was expecting something great as it is dreamworks which has my favorite animated films in Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, and How to Train your Dragon, but this one just fell flat. Will Ferrell tried too hard, and Tina Fey was a bad female lead choice, I can't stand her as is so maybe that doesn't help. I think the next Dreamworks is Kung Fu Panda 2, and well, that will be just epic.

The Lion King #175

December the 10th has, for the last 3 years now, been the single worst day of my life. It makes me hate everyone FAR more than usual. But I confided in the awesome majesty that is Disney's best work and the now well-known to me emotional roller coaster ensued.

Beyond perfection as usual. Because: original VHS <3

11/10

Happy Now is a Take That song :)

Noooo.

Blu Ray next year <3

8 months! It's going to be AMAZING.

And I agree with Peep about VHS tapes. Awful picture, awful sound and unwanted white lines of doom < /3. I still have my TLK on VHS but the sound screwed up and always switches between being really quiet to really loud. I also got TLK 2 on VHS when it first came out but have no idea where it's gone. Eh, no big loss, it's not like it had the hyenas in it or anything...

The Blu-Ray will be joyful, but for now my VHS is more than adequate (and it's been abused like a Dutch hooker!).

Whilst I agree the DVD is crisper, the inclusion of The Morning Report makes it dead to me.

I have nothing against the song, in fact, I quite like it. But it RUINS the majesty, tone and pace of the section between 'Circle of Life' and 'I Just Can't Wait To Be King'. That's why I despise it, seemingly beyond all reason.

And you can stop right now with the Simba's Pride slating, MR! That film ADORES life <3

Hunchback of Notre Dame

So weak, jokes are awful, songs are dire (except two), weak in general. Bad casting I feel also.

3/10.

Only because of the shockingly bad Achilles heel joke.

He's probably the best thing in it, apart from his weird appalling over the top expressions of shock. It just dosen't stand up as strong to other films like Aladdin and Hercules which have famous actors in.

^Agreed. The opening song/sequence are quite fab, but it quickly turns to complete s**t after that.

Yesterday saw the start of "since you've worked so hard you can watch a film as a Christmas treat" week at work. Otherwise known as "Mr. Jones can't be **** ed to plan pointless filler lessons which will serve no actual purpose since you've done all the work you need to do" week.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Why did I like this POS so much when I was a kid? It's truely horrible. The kids seemed to like it though.

Four Christmases: It had its moments I suppose. I think I just hate Christmas films in general. I've got the Jehovahs Witness kid in next week though, so I've got the perfect excuse to watch something non-Christmasy.

Inception

That wasn't too bad, need to watch it more to understand some bits. The ending kick was awesome

"A Serbian Film"

Yeah, I had to watch it to see what all the fuss was about. I really regret it now. All the reviews are saying such things like "Do not watch" etc, I should have listened. Not many films make me either cry or feel physically sick like this film did. Just wrong.

What a vile, horrible film, It is just sick, the Director/Creator needs shooting. Horrible person.

As the review say DO NOT WATCH. I am being sincere and saving all of your conscious minds!!

It's that tease that makes you watch it though isn't it? 'DO NOT WATCH!!!' so of course, you're going to. It's a putrid piece of cinema. Apparently it serves some point, making a statement abut exploitation/the war torn history surrounding Serbia but I feel a lot of the things shown in this film were unnecessary to put that message across.

And it's the director's only film, which makes him seem even more suspect. If this had come from someone like Gaspar Noe, who already has a reputation for making exploitation films (albeit, good award-winning ones) then I feel it wouldn't be as bad. But still *shudder*.

Surely more of a reason to show a Xmas film?

I watched the original Wicker Man the other night. I was mildly stoned and it was brilliant! So bizarre!

After Mark told me NOT to go and watch A Serbian Film I obviously had to then go and watch it.
It is pretty graphic but the acting, camera-work and editing are done quite well. There's a couple of scenes that are completely sick and difficult to watch such as the guy raping the newborn baby (Titled 'newborn porn') and also the ending when you find out who's under the sheets was pretty sick.
Like Mark said I'd advise against watching it. But if you feel you have to now then please think twice before pressing play. It's not the sort of film you watch to enjoy. Most people just watch it out of curiosity and to see what all the fuss is about. And it turns out it's worse than they imagined. :p

Here's a short bit from Wikipedia
A Serbian Film is a 2010 Serbian horror film set in Serbia, the first feature film directed by Srđan Spasojević. It tells the story of a down-on-his-luck porn star who agrees to participate in an "art film", only to discover that he has been drafted into a snuff movie with child rape and necrophilic themes. The film stars Serbian actors Srđan Todorović and Sergej Trifunović. Upon its debut on the art film circuit, the film received substantial attention for its graphic depictions of rape, necrophilia, and incest.

The state prosecution of Serbia opened an investigation to find out if the film violates the law. It is being investigated for elements of crime against sexual morals and crime related to the protection of minors. It was banned by a San Sebastián court for "threatening sexual freedom" and thus could not be shown in the XXI Semana de Cine Fantástico y de Terror (21st Horror and Fantasy Film Festival).
