I watched "Children of Men" tonight.

It was a really good film. Very different, and filmed etc in the UK!

It kind of reminded me of 28 days later, but it wasn't a horror film or anything. Basicly, its set in the UK about 30 years in the future. We're kicking out all the immigrants, and the world is in chaos due to every woman being infertile. A girl becomes pregnant, and the film is about a group trying to get her to the "human project".

8/10, would have been a nine if it wasn't for the dodgy scene cuts and abrupt ending. Worth a see though, definatly!
 
I just came back from Dreamgirls.

It was really good, but not as good as people would make you think. I think its all the publicity making it seem worse and all. Worth watching, it deserved the Golden Globe, but its not as magical as the media makes it seem. It felt a little long during the movie, but at the end it makes it feel like it didnt take that long. Some of the singing was a little awkward and not flowing with the movie, but thats alright.

Jennifer Hudson was the actress, not the supporting actress. I guess they just didnt want her to go against Helen Mirren in the award shows.

I just watched The Hills Have Eyes remake.


It was quite good, not the best film ever (it seemed to turn from the horror of the first half to action in the second, which was a little lame) and it wasn't too horrific (none of the deaths are anything interesting... ugh).


Apart from the rape scene. I swear, that scene is the most ****ing disgusting thing I've ever seen in a movie. I almost had to turn the thing off, but, I didn't. It was vulgar
 
I saw Jackass 2 tonight.

It was a good movie and loads of bits in it made me laugh. I have never properly sat down and watched the first film but I've loads of bits from it. I would say it was better than what I've seen of the first movie.

That was seriously harsh. I kind of enjoyed the film, as it didn't pull its punches, but as you say, it just became too "action movie" by the end.

I started to read the book a while back (before the film came out, Madame_Furie has had it knocking around a few years), but it was a bit dull so never bothered. Might read it so I can slate the film ;) :P

I watched Stay last night. I have to say it was one of the most gorgeous films I've watched in a long time. The direction and cinematography was just beautiful. Unfortunately the story was a little blandly intriguing, and ultimately slightly disappointing.

Still, if you enjoy watching a film cinematic reasons, rather than "Hollywood entertainment", I can't recommend it enough. I'd say Peep will love it :D

I watched Happy Feet after Christmas. It's good how they did the scenary (it looks so real). Mumble has great penguin feet, too!
Look out for humans ("aliens"). It's a great family film.
 
I saw Mean Girls for the first time the other day, and thought it was a fantastic movie!

It was funny and interesting, but put across quite an important message. If anyone hasn't seen it (i'm sure most people have...) i'd suggest giving it a try!

The Ewan McGregor one? I wanted to see that but got put off by the reviews, wish I'd gone now. Was the music any good? The same team did Monster's Ball which had an excellent soundtrack.

Saw The Fountain last night, been looking forward to seeing it for ages as the director's last film was stunning (Requiem for a Dream). It's quite unusual, very poetic in its approach, as it covers the links between love and death using three interweaving stories set in different times using the same actors.

It doesn't quite pull off what it's trying to achieve, mainly because the story set in historic Spain isn't given enough attention to link properly with the others. But at least it's trying to be different, it's got some original imagery, and Hugh Jackman does a really good job - it can't be easy convincing us he's in love with a tree, but somehow he manages :D
 
^OMG Slayed you saw the Fountain, darn, I really want to see it now. Unfortunatly its getting some bad reviews after about a year and a half of hype building up to its release, there are way too many films I want to see atm, hopefully will get to see The last King of Scotland and Black book soon.
 
Exorcism of Emily Rose was on Sky last night.


It was a bit, eh, but a nice and different take on horror, helped by the mixture of with a courtroom drama.

Everything "arty" was stunning... Except the writing... And Ewan's accent :)

You'd have thought I'd have learned my lesson, but, no, I watched it again after about three years, and cried the whole way through.


It's just, beautiful in every way.

Its not their fault about it not getting released.. the movie studios have shat all over it!

Seems like the best way to comit commercial suicide is to take the piss out of fox news/cnn in your film!

I'm not quite as bad a that, but still, I get very emotional.


I watched "Saw" for the first time the other night, I don't know why its took me so long, but it was ?2.84 in Tesco, so why not.

It wasn't as gory as I was expecting it to be, in fact it wasn't very gory at all, but it was good, something different.

I hate the thought of that clamp being around my face, thats horrible.

Anyway, I've heard the 2nd and 3rd films aren't as good as the first, but they're much more gory, so they're worth watching.

I know, I know, bloody studios...:x

Saw Notes On A Scandal, very melodramatic and highly-strung (even the score by Philip Glass was in your face, and he's usually fairly chilled!). It feels like a play, which is odd since it's an adaptation of a novel. Without Judi Dench being amazing as usual it really wouldn't be worth watching.

They're quite gory. The third is EVEN worse then the second for gore. But a better film... <3.


Got Sky Movies? Saw II is on, soon...


Oh, and Red Eye is total ****.
